Update to my original posting: The Owner reached out to me today and addressed my concerns around pricing on the initial bill and the estimate of the pending job. I'm satisfied with the outcome of that discussion and have no further concerns over pricing. They earned my business through their effort to make things right. Pros: Prompt response & service Knowledgeable & highly professional Technician Reliable/flexible-Rescheduled appointment to an earlier time slot with no issues Cons: May be cost prohibitive for some In my case: 192.43 Diagnosis fee 779.38 for services rendered: Total cost was 971.81 1) Diagnose garage light fixture not working (ballast/lighting was replaced on (2) units) 2) Estimate to replace a fixture on the outside of home (lighting replaced with a flood light fixture) 3) Estimate for an future install of an outlet in the master bath. Estimate was provided and totaled 868.36 for parts/labor/inspection permit admin fee Summary: I've had other companies out and have experienced poor results. In contrast the work that was performed by the Volt Doctors Tech was done pristinely. I don't recall the Tech's name...he was a quality minded individual...& took great care in performing the work yet worked efficiently (job was completed in under a hour or so). read more

Bunch of crooks. They asked what kind of car was under my tarp and the price went up due to a Tesla. The quote was over $1000, but negotiated to less than half while still at my house. These guys are a joke and I won't ever do business. Check out this video I captured on my Ring device. https://ring.com/share/6703601590007543697 read more

They quoted me over $3000 and I was able to order the parts myself for $750 and did the install myself in about 3 hours. All the instructions were included with the parts and it was easy. BUT, I paid $49 to find this out. I feel a little bit ripped off, but I realize they can't run all over for free. They are just totally uncompetitive. I can't really attest to their reliability accept that if their quote was that far off, I have to wonder... read more

I contacted this company to see the cost to replace 3 wall outlets. They want to charge me for an estimate!! They did say the estimate charge could be applied to the repair work but I do not know if they are competitive. I contacted other companies and they replied with no cost to quote on the repair. read more

Everything was great ... just very expensive compared to 3 other companies, but they were booked up ... so I had to pay Volt Drs. Price ... nearly double the competition But they were prompt and professional and quick read more

We had Eric S come out and replace our old Gould panel with a new Square D Homeline panel. Also, we had a new high amp circuit added to our backyard shed. The homeowner (me) did not arrange the inspector to come out in time, but Eric took it in stride and worked on the outdoor circuit. Today the panel was installed and approved by inspector. This time, the electric company was late coming out to turn off power and Eric had a revolving door of inspectors checking his progress. So kudos to Eric and the Volt Doctors being flexible. They were a great value and Eric has always been available by phone or text. Highly recommend. read more

Exorbitant rates!!! We had to pay over $600.00 to have a $55.00 Lowes bathroom ceiling fan replaced. Very nice electrician was at our home less than 90 minutes total. read more

Responded to my need for service. Came out and did the job (install electro for a pool) when they said they would!!! Eric who came to our home to do the work was super friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I would definitely use them again! Thanks :) read more

Volt doctors did call and offer a free inspection which I accepted. they came back and I met them to do the free inspection. *Previously I had waited and wasted several hours and they were not prepared to do this inspection after all. It did get done at no $ cost but my time and inconvenience is worth much more than the free inspection! Thank you volt doctors! read more

The first person that had come out, although was very nice, was not qualified to fix my generator. Once I complained I have to say I was very surprised how the owner Andy Clark handled the situation. Andy personally came out with one of their top service providers Gregg and fixed the generator and refused to take payment from us. It was frustrating at first but extremally pleased how they handled the situation. This is why I like to use family owned businesses. I would use them again. read more

John from volt doctors came to house because an HVAC person said there was an issue with the electric circuit on the unit. John worked at the unit and then figured out the problem was in the wall outlet the air handler was connected too. He replaced the switch and the air was back on and running great. John's professionalism was as awesome as his stories. Lived his authentic NY accent even though he is a Mets fan. Thanks John, job well done. read more

Volt Drs were the ONLY company to even return my call just to get an estimate. They called promptly and we set up a time for a video estimate. The work was done in a matter of days. The tech Ivan and his partner were awesome. read more

I can't tell you how awesome these guys really are. You really need to see it to believe it. I had two dedicated circuits installed and a whole home generator. I can't express enough how professional and courteous these guys are. All at a great price!!! I would not hesitate for a second to hire them again. read more

I needed some help with some lights in my garage. Volt Doctors showed up on time and did a great job. I'm pleased with the work they did. Friendly, too. read more

My phone service was impacted by Hurricane Matthew and I was forced to call for assistance after failing to isolate the trouble myself. James F. from Volt Doctors thoroughly investigated this issue and even contacted his supervisor to glean from his vast experience with a phone line setup in this fashion. James was on time, very knowledgeable and professional. Thanks for your assistance we look forward to working with you and your company in the future. read more

We had an issue with a light bulb exploding, flickering lights and the AC unit stopped working close to midnight on a Friday night. Duke electric came out, pulled the meter and told us we had to vacate the house and could not come back until an electrician came to inspect and diagnose. I contacted Volt Doctors through Yelp. They responded quickly on Saturday morning and arranged to have an electrician come by that morning. John from Volt Doctors contacted Duke Energy and tracked down the technician who pulled the meter before he got to the house. He was able to work with the Duke energy technician to figure out the issue was under the street in Duke Energy's lines. He inspected the house electric circuits, equipment and verified the house electrical was good. Duke provided temporary electric service to allow the house to be occupied again on Saturday, less than 24 hours after the issue began. John from Volt Doctors wrote up a detailed description of the issue that allowed me to file a claim with Duke Energy who is reimbursing me for all of the Volt Doctor charges and the hotel bill that was incurred due to the issue. Thank you John and Volt Doctors for doing an amazing job and helping us through a very tough time! read more

We've used them multiple times. Super professional and do great work! Every technician has been personable and tried to deliver on exactly what we needed done. read more

Very responsive and helpful! We scheduled over Yelp and within the week Volts Doctors came over and helped us out.

I brought them in for an estimate based on some good reviews here and I was not disappointed. They actually encouraged me not to do some electrical work that was unnecessary even though they could have made money on it. Also, where another electrician I used blamed old wiring for a ceiling fan issue I had, wanting to charge $500-$600 for re-wiring, Volt was able to diagnose it as a bad remote receiver which can be fixed for $25. Thumbs up. read more

I was in a real difficult situation. My house was under agreement, the home inspector mentioned something that needed to be addressed in the Circuit panel. I was also not living in NC any longer! I contacted a (ahem) different electrician that I had previous used from Yelp and he was actually rude to me. I decided to search for another local, well rated Yelp Electrician and Volt Doctors did not let me down. They were super fast in responding. Made a quick appointment to have someone out to diagnose and address the situation and dispelled what I was told by that other electrician. So glad that I worked with them! read more

I hired Volt Dr to update some electrical components to accommodate a new induction cooktop/oven I was purchasing. Their response time was FAST- they called me literally minutes after requesting a free quote and agreed to show up at a convenient time for me. Giles came out and took at look at my needs, suggested a best way forward, and after picking up a part, completed the job all in the same day. Great customer service and very courteous and competent. As you may have guessed, I highly recommend! read more

We needed a lighting fixture replaced in a vaulted ceiling location. We had already purchased the replacement, which was a match to the existing fixture, so the job was simple and straight-forward. They had good customer service when I called to set-up the appointment. I spoke to Brandy, who was pleasant and helpful. I called on a Wednesday and was able to set-up a time that Friday. Brandy explained that the electrician would give me a free estimate after the scope of the job was assessed during the appointment on Friday, and that if the repair could be made right away, and I accepted the estimate price, it would be done during that appointment time. I was a little concerned that I wasn't able to any idea of pricing over the phone - I asked if they had a standard hourly labor rate. Brandy said the rate is based on the what the job entails. That seemed reasonable considering some work involves spending hours in a crawl space and other work is done inside the home, but I was still a little anxious about what the estimate would be. It ended up being very reasonable - $115 - which seemed fair for the time and labor of an electrician. We had the replacement put in that day. The electrician was also professional and easy to work with, and called to let us know when he was on his way. read more

The electrician who came to our house was very professional. He came on an emergency visit during a weekend and fixed the problem with the main breaker. He gave us several options and recommendations for the future. I would definitely call the Volt Doctors again. read more

I am so happy! Volt Doctors was super easy to schedule and actually solved the mystery of my flickering lights (another electrician was totally stumped and said "no one really understands electricity, it could be anything"). Steven figured it out super fast and the quote to fix everything seems reasonable. Can't wait for him to come back. Save yourself time, hassle and money, go with these guys :) read more

The electrical panel in my older home was starting to become unreliable often resulting in the electricity in half of my house going out. I worked with Kenny. He patiently explained what my problem was and how it needed to be fixed. The problem was resolved promptly. Kenny was professional, neat, couteous and kind. I will definitely work with Volt Doctor's again and will request to work with Kenny. read more
