I have employed Karma Raines for massage therapy, cranial-sacral therapy (CST) and voice/singing lessons. I have been her client off and on for much of the past three-and-a-half years (i.e. 2010-2013). I wholeheartedly recommend Karma for anyone who wishes to work with her in any of the three areas, and especially for those who wish to combine body-oriented therapy with voice coaching.
I am very grateful that Karma has a presence as both a bodyworker and voice coach that is highly adaptable to my needs. She is receptive to feedback and yet consistently demonstrates intuition about where to take the session. This is true across her repertoire: for massage she is open to talking the whole session or not at all--she is a great conversationalist when I want her to be. Through singing lessons, she has guided me to expanding my vocal range and capacity for emotional expression and emotional embodiment. I am continually amazed how her intuition about physiology informs her voice coaching AND how her experience as an opera singer and actor brings her a presence other bodyworkers wish they had.
(Also, I should mention that Karma also was employed by my wife for massage therapy, both during pregnancy and shortly after. Karma was my wife's favorite massage therapist, of several she had hired.)
They only area for growth that comes to mind with respect to Karma's services is with respect to the marketing/branding/outreach of her unique skillset. For those used to flashy websites or newly remodeled clinics or spas, I emphasize that Karma's "brand" is more about her professional substance than an ostentatious branding. This branding is less important to me, which is why I give her all 5 stars. read more
