Who in their right mind complains about the $3 cover? Its all to a good cause. r5 productions use…read moreamazing spaces, bring fantastic music, and always pay bands well. Suck it up and pay the $$. PS its a donation - so if you are REALLY that cheap, you can just go in. I always wish I had $1000 or more to spend everytime I come - but alas, I usually don't have more than $30. Oh punk rock flea market, I wish you were monthly.

With the pandemic, I don't know if this event runs any more…read more My friend V. loves thrift shops and what she calls 'treasure hunting.' Having grown up poor and being forced to wear way too big, tooth achingly ugly winter coats from Goodwill that I'd 'grow into,' hideous polyester button down shirts that a pimp wouldn't touch, scratchy, pill-y wool sweaters reeking of camphor, high water generic blue jeans and summer shorts I would not put on a dog in a clown show, I assiduously avoid things like this. V. was insistent that I would 'go wild' over this flea market because 'it won't be like anything else you've ever been to!!!' I had my doubts about that but you make concessions for friends. We paid our $3 entrance fee and strolled around. Most of the vendor tables had things that were of no interest to me; old playing cards, glassware that was (presumably) collectible, vintage tattoo flash, old silver plate and older, tarnished sterling silver tableware, racks of *shudder* vintage clothing and shoes, most of which had seen better days. There were some well curated tables of antique jewelry and antique beaded bags at very non-bargain prices and a few tables of what I can only call culled pieces from cabinets of curiosities-moth eaten taxidermied items and non-p.c. tourist trash. For the most part, the vendors we encountered were bored seeming or down right rude. The people watching was far better than anything for sale. After 2 hours here, V. bought a very large, ornate dusty rose colored tassel. I asked what she planned to do with it. Her response? 'Do you want it, Warren?' Uhh-that would be NO. I bought nothing. V. wanted to take another spin around the place so I opted to go out to her car to sit and read, telling her to take her time. Another 2 hours passed. She returned empty handed, other than the tassel, to the car. Would I go back? Nope. Should you go if the flea market opens again? It's $3 and maybe an hour or 2 out of your life. You could spend that time and money in worse ways.

It was fine. I won't say customer service was exceptional, but the worker I encountered when it…read morewas time to pay for my items was helpful when necessary. When I arrived, no one really greeted me or asked me for assistance, so I just took note of that and moved on. What I actually really liked what the men's selection here. I thrift quite a bit and it's honestly rare to find a decent breadth of Men's thrifted clothing. This store had probably the most vast men's section I've seen at a thrift. It took up one side of the store. What I've found is every thrift store has somewhat of an identity. This one is hard to pinpoint, but I have to say, it is not the hipster domain that some secondhand stores have become. This store felt more like a place people just looking for some deals turn up to. It was actually really refreshing. That in mind, I found the selection of vintage pieces here to be slightly above average. I even found a very rare band tee (that I plan on flipping). I was shocked at how great this place was for the unique vintage I love, but I think that largely has to do with it being more of a place frequented by community and not a hotbed for those millenials and Gen Z-ers just now on the thrift wave.

I stepped into the store at 5:16 PM today. Instead of being greeted, I was told The store is…read moreclosing in 20 minutes. Which surprise me since the closing time is 6:00 PM but lucky for me. I was only coming in to look to see if there were any tools for sale. Within five minutes of being told, the store is closing in 20 minutes, the same woman came up to me, and I had nothing in my hands, and says to me you need to go get in line now... I paused, pointed at my chest and said "are you talking to me?" She said no I'm just talking to everybody. You need to go get in line so you could check out. The rest of the people in the store were herded toward the cash register. My total time inside of the store? Less than nine minutes, and pushed out the door, and I'm writing this review at 5:37 PM. Just thought that upper management should know what it looks like going into the store.

Honestly cannot believe it was my first time here! What an amazing establishment in Philadelphia…read more The Resource Exchange is located inside of a large warehouse with maker spaces and other establishments. You can't miss the HUGE colorful mural on the outside in the parking lot, but the RE itself is on the right side. Conveniently located by a 3 bus stop as well. I was in the market for some postcards and other papercraft supplies and brought some scrapbook paper I knew I wouldn't use with me to donate as well. The staff was very nice and organized. After seeing the true breadth of all of the various materials sold at the RE, I will definitely bring more miscellaneous craft stuff with me to donate next time. Have to make room for new stuff! I was able to purchase some postcards (they were 50 cents each or 3 for $1), a container to hold some of my other materials, and a set of Dublin stickers, all for $15 flat. Cannot stress enough how AFFORDABLE stuff is. In general I would say go in to look around and not want anything too specific, especially on a busy day like a Saturday, because it was a bit crowded. But they had materials truly for all typees of crafts: fabric, knitting, sewing, painting, papercrafts, jewelry, woodworking... as well as larger materials. Really affordable and hope to get the word out about this place! There are two gender-neutral restrooms located in the lobby of the building as well as part of the shared space.
