I saw Dr. Polyakov for my wisdom teeth and the process could not have been any smoother. The counseltation wasn't a counseltation that went over EVERY different scenarios with wisdom teeth and overwhelmed you, but rather only scenarios that catered to MY teeth/smile. He made sure twice that I had no remaining questions after the counselation, which I appreciated and he was very insightful. He wanted to make sure I understood the procedure entirely. The day of the surgery was super fast! I was greeted wtih a friendly staff who made sure I was comfortable. Then, I went under and was surprised when they said it was all over. They provided me with a little care package (guaze, toothbrush, etc) and detailed instructions on how to care for my teeth. Dr Polyakov, himself, even took the time to follow up with me after the surgery by calling to make sure everything was ok and I didn't have any questions. I didn't actually get any work done at Dr Polyakov's office, but I did go in for a consultation to get my wisdom teeth out. I chose not to go with this office for several reasons: 1. I felt like I was being given a sales pitch instead of an actual explanation of the process, and the doctor talked WAY too fast with a thick accent. Even when I asked him to speak slower, he ignored me and it almost felt like he was rushing to get me out of his office. That made me visualize him rushing through my surgery, no thanks! 2. He then told me one of his assistants does the cutting during the actual procedure. Call me a snob, but if you don't have an M.D. or a D.D.S. (Doc of Dental Surgery vs Doc of Dental Science) you're not coming anywhere near my body with a knife. 3. I told him I needed to get my wisdom teeth out because I was getting invisalign and he completely bashed invisalign saying it doesn't work and not to waste my time. It would have been less annoying if he actually provided an alternative solution, but he just kept saying it wouldn't work. **As a sidenote I got invisalign and it's working beautifully so far =) 4. When I asked about the cost, the girl I talked to was really awkward about telling me, and I kind of got the vibe she felt they'd be overcharging me. I had all four wisdom teeth and one of them finally started to hurt. My dentist recommended Dr. Polyakov. Making the appointment for the consultation was easy. I found a 2-hr free parking structure a couple of blocks away. Lana was the one who basically explained the procedure to me and answered any questions I had, which wasn't much as I didn't know what to ask. But she was very sweet, reassuring, and helpful. During the consultation, I spent maybe about 10 mins. with Dr. Polyakov himself. He showed me the panoramic x-ray of my teeth, explained the risks, went into a little more detail of what the procedure entailed, and showed me a short animation of the procedure. I then received an estimate on the costs. Due to my work schedule I was only able to make my appointment for a month later so they weren't able to prescribe me the pain medication or antibiotics yet, but was told I could drop by the office the week before my procedure. I basically got contradicting information regarding the prescription from the various front desk ladies I spoke with over the phone. One person told me one thing and the other told me something different. It was getting quite annoying. I wasn't about to pick up my antibiotics and pain medication after my procedure when I was loopy with gauze stuffed in my mouth. When I went to the office a few days before the procedure, the lady at the front desk was clearly confused. She didn't know whether I was to receive antibiotics or not and had to wait for someone to come look at my charts. Like, the front desk staff are not well trained or informed of the protocol when it comes to procedures like wisdom tooth/teeth extraction. Aside from that, the staff was friendly. Nika, who is the office manager, was also very pleasant. I asked for my panoramic x-ray to be emailed to me and she did so right away. On the day of, Dr. Polyakov got caught up in some terrible traffic and she came to apologize to me numerous times. The surgical assistant that day was Priscilla and she was so fantastic! She went over everything with me, i.e., when to take certain medications, side effects, cleaning instructions, things to do to reduce swelling or make me more comfortable, etc. It was over before I knew it and they sent me home with a goodie bag filled with a bottled water, written instructions for the after care, extra gauze, and a packet of instant oatmeal. I also got a head wrap with reusable ice packs. Overall, I was happy with my experience. Priscilla took me downstais in a wheelchair and made sure I got into the car just fine. They will expect your ride to drive up to the building although there is no street parking out front. FYI, even though this place is posh and right smack in the middle of BH there was absolutely no pretentiousness and they don't try to charge you an arm or a leg. I have insurance, but it didn't cover the whole thing so I wanted to shop around as price was a bit of a factor for me too. I got a second opinion from a very modest looking place in W LA and they wanted to charge me over 2x what Dr. Polyakov was going to charge. read more

Did an excellent job removing my 4 wisdom teeth! I was terrified after hearing a million horror stories but the experience was actually pretty... EASY! First - I waited too long to get them out so they had really started bugging me... I called and begged for an appointment and they did the procedure the next day after my consultation. The whole office is friendly and attentive and they send you home feeling prepared and informed on how to take care of yourself properly post visit. I needed very little pain medication and was barely swollen - zero bruising. They call and check on you after which is nice :) And I actually thought the cost was really affordable - I had a small dental insurance plan that helped for sure but even if it hadn't the price seemed right! read more

My experience with Dr. Polyakov was not the best one. I even posted pictures of the outcome which the office called me to remove because it was "hurting their business". I didn't remove them and they went to Yelp to remove my pictures, and Yelp did. I needed to get my wisdom teeth extracted and after hearing about how painful of a procedure it is, I wanted to make sure I went to a great doctor. After doing some research, I found Dr. Polyakov. I saw on yelp what great reviews he had, and how many of his patients were amazed with how painless their procedure was, so I decided to give him a try. My greatest fear was experiencing the pain since all four of my wisdom teeth were impacted, so he would have to perform surgery on all of them. Also, I was worried about how long it would take for the swelling after the surgery to go down since I had to go back to work after a week. Dr. Polyakov was very nice, he explained the procedure fully and answered all my questions. On the day of the procedure I was put to sleep, and once I woke up the procedure was over, it seemed like it happened so fast. I didn't feel any pain, and once the anesthesia had worn off I was still fine. I was swollen and had a bruised eye, I also had a cut on my cheek, which he explained was an accident that occurred during the procedure. The swelling took two weeks to go down, but the bruised eye lasted OVER A MONTH !! The procedure caused a blood vessel to rupture inside my eye that made me look horrible. I was under so much stress since I had to go to work and I had a horrible bruised eye and no way of hiding it. I was very disappointed in the outcome of the procedure, because I did not expect to have a bruised eye out of it after all the wonderful reviews he received. To top it off I went to my doctor to see if there was something I can do to get rid of the black eye and when asked what had caused it, my doctor said that wasn't a normal outcome. Dr Polyakov is amazing! I came in to have my 4 wisdom teeth removed, the 2 lower were impacted and needed to be surgically removed. I came in for a consultation and after authorization from my insurance company, I scheduled my appt. I have to be honest, I was very scared. I came in for my 10am appt and they ran the whole thing like a well-oiled machine. They asked some questions, I signed some forms and next thing I know I'm in a chair with all kinds of techie stuff clipped to my hands and finger. What seems like 10 minutes later I'm waking up and drowsily headed home with my friend behind the wheel. I took a pain med, woke up around 3p and I wasn't feeling so bad. My tummy wasn't a fan of the anaesthesia but it settled down with some bread and bananas. Dr. Polyakov called me twice to check on me, talk about excellent bedside manner. I never at any point felt major pain, only some soreness and discomfort. I stopped taking the pain meds after the first 12 hours and I've had almost no swelling. I'm writing this review a day and 1/2 after my procedure and with the exception of eating soft food, it's business as usual. Oh and they sent me a get well card in the mail today. Really nice staff and Dr. Polyakov didn't make me feel dumb or treat me like I was just a patient he was going to cut open. He had me watch what the surgery would consist of and what it would look like if I chose the other options. He showed me on patients what happened when they did it other ways. He gave me all of my options, worked with me on every aspect of the surgery. I decided to stay awake during the surgery because I was only extracting 1 tooth. The whole time, his crew explained what was happening and if I was in any discomfort, they made sure I was taken care of. They also triple checked every part of the surgery to make sure everything was done correctly. Not only that, but after the surgery, they called me twice. They eased all my fears of getting my teeth extracted..(I was extremely nervous) the procedure went so smooth and I was under so I didn't feel a thing! I honestly never thought I would be writing a review for a dentist...but Dr. Polyakov's office truly deserves it. I just relocated to CA from Boston and had a pleasantly shocking experience taking care of not so pleasant dental issue. First of all, the office is extremely modern from the interior design to latest equipment etc... Secondly, the stuff is EXTREMELY polite and a pleasure to deal with. Marsha at the front was great fitting me in within 24 hrs I called the office for an appointment, dental assistant Priscilla explained every little detail to make sure I am comfortable after the surgery..Dr. Polyakov is knowledgeable and very attentive. I have a huge fear of dentists from a bad experience as a child and he sensed it right away and throughout the procedure was constantly checking with me on how I was doing and also let me know when he was almost done- that is always a huge relief to hear and helps me last through the last moments of torture in the dental chair!! For something I had feared for years, it ended up not being nearly as bad as I was anticipating. Pros: - Helpful, warm staff that explained the procedure before and after, including what to eat, how to keep swelling down, etc... - Really clean office, doesn't feel old or had any outdated technology - Super fast process. I think I was in and out in less than an hour, although I was still kind of loopy, so I don't know what time it was exactly. - Since I was well informed, I wasn't nervous about my healing at all or felt I needed to call to see if anything abnormal was happening - All the video simulations he showed me demonstrated exactly what was happening Cons: - Parking, but it's LA. Um, wow. I got my wisdom teeth pulled by this man yesterday (I am 31 years old so it was no small feat) and it couldn't have gone smoother. I first met Dr. Polyakov amid a terrible dental phobia when I was 18 for emergency removal of my top wisdom teeth. He was still at his old office. I remember him being very brusque and curt, but in my experience a lot of older Russian men are like that (and at that point I couldn't care less if he were Hitler, I just needed to get this ish done!). While I was asleep, he had pulled my teeth and cleaned out my sinuses and resulting infection. The whole ordeal plus sedation cost $1000 cash. In and out. Great, right? Fast forward to 2015. My phobia has only gotten worse with age, and for that reason and several others, I had allowed my neglected teeth to basically fall apart. After my front tooth broke, I had no choice but to face the music. I needed 12 teeth extracted and two front implants placed immediately by Dr. Polyakov, and restorative therapy in a few others teeth, to be done by Dr. Aaron Schwartzmann, a protodontist. Becuase of the huge scope of work and my phobia, it was decided that I would go under and both doctors would work concomitantly to do everything in one sitting. Day of the pre-op consultation, my mother and I entered the white, cold, sterile marble palace that is Dr. Polyakov's new office, Synergy. The two models at the front desk saw how panic stricken I was and basically made their amusement obvious when I ran outside to puke after watching the fucking big screen TV for 30 minutes playing a video of dental implants while waiting for the ever important and pompous Dr. Dr. Polyakov was still the same. Gruff, self important, curt and only addressed my mother despite the fact that I was the patient. He basically dismissed my phobia as me being a pussy and hurried through the consultation by ignoring my concerns. I really didn't appreciate his obvious disapproval of what I had allowed to happen to my teeth, and the last thing I needed was the judgment of him and his bimbos. Day of the surgery, my parents drove me to Dr. Polyakov's office. I have suffered with trichotillomania which, for those of you who aren't naturally fucked up, is stress related skin picking and other similar self destruction, my whole life. My arms and legs are covered with little scars and marks, some very deep and below the skin, this invisible to the naked eye. Also, I'm not what you'd call skinny, so my veins do not pop out on the surface, especially when dehydrated pre-surgery. The anesthesiologist took one stab, then two, right into a fucking scar and then threw up her hands in defeat. While I was right there, she referred to me in the third person and audibly told the doctor that I had no veins. Dr. Polyakov took my arms and made that "tsk tsk tsk" noise while shaking his head, looking at me with disgust and pity. Frustrated and feeling judged and helpless, I suggested that they try the veins in my feet, since there is no fucking fat or scar tissue there, and guess what... Got it on the first try! Minor miracle, doctors! Surgery was succesfully over some 5 1/2 hours later and I am wheeled out to my parents, who are white as a sheet. It looks as if my mother has been crying for hours. Later that night, she explains that when Dr. Polyakov and the anesthesiologist came out mid surgery, they informed my already worried parents, with no prompting, that I WAS A FUCKING LONG TERM IV DRUG USER and had no veins. I was appalled and outraged. First of all, I am almost 30 years old, and I am the patient. My parents were just there to drive me home. They are not my guardians or next of kin. What fucking right did these two supposed professionals have to go and scare the shit out of my parents by divulging false, unverified and PRIVATE health information? It is absolutely illegal, and they violated my right to doctor patient confidentiality based on their quick judgments of the state of my mouth and my other scars and such. They baaically told my parents I was sick despite knowing nothing and asking nothing of me, the patient. Now imagine my parents surprise that I was fully functional and denied pain meds the day following surgery. My mother saw my progress and relaxed a bit, but it has taken me months of swearing up and down, offering to take drug tests and explaining what happened in there to get my parents to stop worrying. I am a responsible adult, and Dr. Polyakov's judgmental slander almost demolished the trust I had spent years building. Do yourself a favor and and don't give this sadist and his bimbos your money. We paid cash up front, and the surgery still cost 40% more than other places. Don't pay for his marble floors and his blondes... God knows if you do, he may show you his gratitude by violating HIPAA law, breaking confidentiality, and passing judgment... and reward you by telling your loved ones, with great certainty, that you are HIV positive because you're looking a little pale, in his professional opinion. read more

It's like selling cars except they pull teeth. I get in here and its like "so when can we take out those wisdom teeth?" but i was asked like 5 times in a row by the dr. The whole time they kept preassuring me to make an appointment. As it turned out i went to another oral surgeoun with a little more experience and more medical education, and discovered that the teeth they were going to pull would have done more damage than good. If he ever wanted a career change he should go into selling cars, since they were so great on trying to sell me something i didnt need. I've gotten two procedures done by Dr. Polyakov and he will be the only one I will return to for any other procedures I may need. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed last November and just yesterday I removed 3 extra baby teeth hiding and growing from underneath my gums (yes, that's a thing). Both surgeries went very smoothly. Dr. Polyakov even paid attention to the fact that I am very sensitive to general anesthesia and gave me a smaller dose so that I can wake up faster. Both procedures had very minimal pain, more discomfort than anything. This is coming from someone who was absolutely terrified and anxiety-stricken about the thought of going under. Wow. I don't think Dr. Polyakov's office needs another great review - he has so many...which is why I chose to go to him. But I'm going to give him one anyway because they so deserve it. I am thirty and needed four wisdom teeth removed - they were growing out of my jawbone. It was a complicated procedure, so I was a little nervous. First of all, Dr. Polyakov's staff is incredible. They are ALL so helpful and kind - and there is a definite "family" atmosphere there. Gina was especially awesome and explained everything to me so patiently. Dr. Polyakov himself has excellent bedside manner. The procedure itself went great - I was out the whole time. Considering what was done, I have had very little pain. I had my remaining three wisdom teeth taken out earlier today, and it was a good and painless procedure. Only needle pinch I felt while I was awake was for the IV drip at my arm. Other than that I did not feel any surgical instruments in my mouth throughout the whole thing. The procedure took maybe about 30 minutes, but in my mind, it might as well been only a few minutes. I got knocked out by the anesthesia in less than a minute, and woke up in no time without those wisdom teeth, kinda like magic! I only wish the office take HMO patients. I scouted my insurance website for HMO oral surgeons and then looked on yelp, and only one or two yelp stars oral surgeons are available under my HMO plan. I will not pick an HMO plan again next year when it comes time for re-enrollment. Plus I had previous bad experience when taking out one wisdom tooth while I was awake, so I decided to pay out of pocket to ensure a peace of mind. At least the pricing is comparable to the last time I had that one tooth taken out 4 years ago, and this office offers monthly repayment plan (pending good credit history). I would definitely recommend this doctor to anyone in LA for the efficiency of the procedure, the friendly staff, and the doctor's thorough explanation of the procedure. I recently had dental implant surgery performed by Dr. Polyakov on one of my upper teeth (thankfully not one of the front teeth). I was somewhat nervous about the procedure because it sounds pretty intense but I have to say, the surgery, which lasted less than an hour, was absolutely painless. I felt some slight pressure when my broken tooth was being extracted but before I knew it, it was over, just like that. Dr. Polyakov made dental implant surgery look like a walk in the park. I felt very comfortable. If anyone needs this procedure, trust me, you're in good hands. The day of the surgery I was totally fine. I iced my cheek a bit and even went out do dinner and a movie that very night! Other than taking some ibuprofen to help with the swelling and the odd Tylenol here and there, I needed virtually NO pain meds and only experienced some soreness and minimal swelling. Three weeks later and I am healing just fine. I would definitely recommend Dr. Polyakov! He's the best! And his staff is incredibly attentive, professional, and very knowledgeable. read more

I went to Dr.Polyakov about a year ago and I've been meaning to right a review but just never got around to it. I woke up on a Sunday morning with extreme pain right where my wisdom teeth were. Dr.Polyakov came highly recommended to me so I decided to give him a shot. I went in on that monday where he took his time and examined my teeth. He took x-rays. He sat down with me and clearly explained what was happening with my wisdom teeth while showing me on the x-rays. Because my gums were inflamed, he gave me some medication to reduce the swelling. I was scheduled to go in a couple days later, where he then put me to sleep and pulled all four of my wisdom teeth. Dr.Polyakov was very gentle with me. Trust me, I fear dentists and oral surgeons the most. The procedure took roughly 30 minutes. And the recovery was very easy too. I mean, don't get me wrong, I did get my teeth pulled so don't expect the recovery to be completely painless. But compared to what I thought, it was a very easy recovery. I went back in about a week later for a check up. Everything was fine. It's now a little over a year ago, and I've never had a problem with where my wisdom teeth were. My bottom wisdom teeth had just broke through the gum, while the top teeth were still covered by my gums. I was nervous prior to the procedure, since I normally have issues with anesthesia and also had never had oral surgery done before. The procedure went very well. Dr. Polyakov attached the IV with ease. The general anesthesia lasted for 45 minutes, but Dr. Polyakov only took 15 minutes to extract my wisdom teeth. I woke up with minimal soreness. Dr. Polyakov and his nurse provided a thorough explanation of how to medicate (alternating hydrocodon and ibuprofen every 3 hours, along with antibiotics). They gave me a very handy jaw sling with pouches that held hot/cold packs. These could be frozen or heated to minimize pain and swelling. In the days following the operation, I experienced no pain and very little swelling. My jaw muscles were slightly sore from the local anesthesia. I waited almost a full year before posting my review because I wanted to ensure that everything healed correctly, and guess what, everything did! I woke up one morning last year and felt excruciating pain in my back tooth area, I left a message for my primary dentist, who had referred me to Dr. Polyakov for extraction. When primary dentist didn't call me back, I called Dr. P's office right away. His office was friendly and accomodating, he actually saw me within the hour of my call and told me that he doesn't pack his schedule because of emergencies such as mine. Turns out one of my emerging wisdom teeth was infected (gross!), should have made the appt with him a lot sooner, but like most- I was terrified. He told me that I needed all four wisdom teeth removed. I am very afraid of surgery and I cannot tolerate pain pills- I was so nervous but I thought he was really nice and explained everything fully. They actually called to check on me after the surgery and urged me to call if I needed anything. My post procedure appointment was very quick but he said it was because things were healing nicely. I've since moved and have a new dentist who agrees that things did heal nicely and that he did a good job! I fully recommend! read more

After putting it off for way too long, I finally had to get my wisdom teeth removed because they were causing me consistent discomfort. I found Dr. Polyakov through Yelp and went for it based on the great reviews. I'm so happy I did. I'm one of those people who gets really nervous about going to the dentist, but his office was welcoming and the process wasn't stressful at all. All the staff and his assistants were really helpful, and they were even really accommodating when I had to change the surgery time last minute (literally the morning of). I was really nervous prior to even having my consultation for wisdom teeth extraction but during the consutlation with Dr. Polyakov and his very knowledgeable assistant, the worries melted away. I had to have my wisdom teeth out and was terrified...My friends had bad experiences with Oral Surgeons, long periods of pain and swelling. I had consults with multiple oral surgeons but on the advice of my co worker went Dr Polyakov and i'm so thankful that I did. The office is amazing! Carissa and Nicole , up front are super helpful. Dr.Polyakov is so friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. I had to take all four of my wisdom teeth out and I was worried that I may get charged a ridiculous amount but I was so surprised that I got the best deal out of everyone that I've talked to around me (I have a friend who paid more to get one tooth out compared to what I paid for all four teeth). What a great deal considering he's located in a very nice office in Beverly Hills? I tend to have a hard time recovering from any minor cuts so I expected the worst with my healing process. I was so surprised at how little pain I felt after the surgery and I had a no problem going back to work after the weekend! (My procedure was on a Friday). Super friendly staff, clean and upbeat environment. Dr. Polyakov and his staff were super informative and very knowledgeable. He gave me all of my options and explained each one very throughly, and didn't pressure me into making any decisions, but instead offered kind advice. Dr. Polyakov even gave me a check up call later that evening to see how I was doing, and to went a step further to send out a get well soon card the next day.
