The biggest downside for us was the location -- while the hotel itself is lovely, the surrounding neighborhood didn't feel like a place where we could walk around and explore, so we found ourselves driving elsewhere for dinner and activities. Parking was also limited. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and are glad we experienced it. The actual menu in-person had a couple items that aren't on the sample menu including a couple more dessert options like fig ice cream. We really liked everything we tried! The portions were pretty good. If coming here for food I'd recommend getting here early since food trucks have limited capacity. You're welcome to stroll around the property both the flower farm and the inn side before or after your meal. The parking situation is a gravel lot. So it may not be the most handicap accessible place. We had a lot of fun stopping by Park Winters. They were setting up for a wedding so the inn side would have been closed for the event starting at 1pm. The check also came with a small map of the property for you to keep. This was very helpful in exploring the property. The only caveat is this is the countryside. Wear long pants or be prepared with insect repellent! Even at 10am in the summer my legs were bitten by mosquitoes. (Type O blood. Mosquito magnet here.) I'd like if they burned some citronella candles to help with mosquitoes. The rest of the dining venue was so thoughtfully designed including timed misters (like at theme parks) to help keep the area cool. Definitely check it out if you're curious or in the area.

My key card stopped working altogether so I called the emergency number only to be sent to voicemail three times and sent a text saying, "Hello how may i help you". The text was sent just like that. THANKFULLY, my brother had my spare and we were a large group staying on property for the wedding. Otherwise, I would have been a woman locked outside my room with no assistance after midnight. Beautiful ballroom and event space but certainly needs fine tuning on the "no staff available after 4:30p" CRAP. One of our guests had to call the police because they heard someone trying to force entry onto the premises around 1am Thursday night/Friday morning. The police were given the after hours emergency number so they could attempt to notify someone of the matter and could not get ahold of anyone. That should be self-explanatory.

During my recent visit I arrived on a very hot summer day (101° F) and was very happy there was valet parking so that I didn't have to walk a long distance with my luggage in the heat. The hotel check in was fast and efficient. When I got to my room I was pleased to find that it was air conditioned and there was an additional fan to keep the air moving around. My room was on the dockside and was small, but I was staying by myself and it worked out just fine. Also, as a reminder this is a boat and the staterooms are traditionally small. There were no chairs in the room, only the bed, two small nightstands and an armoire. There is a TV and small coffeemaker in the armoire. When I stayed with my daughters we had a room with two beds, so the room was larger. The bathroom has an old fashioned flush toilet and when my four year old grandson visited, he loved that he got to flush the toilet and reminds me how much he enjoyed doing that. I love soft bedding with a high thread count, but I was unfortunately not treated to that here. I did sleep okay without it. Again as a reminder that I was on a boat, the room was at a slant so the bathroom door and the armoire doors would sway open unless they were tightly closed. Also for people with vertigo or who get dizzy easily, the slant might be problematic. In the morning I had a delicious omelette with country potatoes in the Pilothouse Restaurant. While eating breakfast there was a seal swimming alongside the riverboat, which was fun to watch. Besides the Pilothouse and the Delta Bar and Grill onboard, there are many restaurants, shops, riverboat rides, and a train museum within a short walking distance. Also, if you want to Uber somewhere else in Sacramento, there is a roundabout in front where you can get picked up and dropped off. I will definitely stay here again in the future.

It's probably one of the better places to live in California away from the coast. N Street, where the hotel is located, has to be one of Sacramento's most charming streets. I took long walks in the early morning. West of the hotel on N Street, there are some fantastic Streamline Moderne government buildings, as well as some snazzy old apartment buildings. The capitol looks typical from the outside, but the inside is worthy of a wander. It's about a thirty-minute jaunt to the river from the hotel. East of the hotel is a mostly residential neighborhood with stately Victorians and a neat home cinema. On a Saturday morning, a few blocks from the hotel, I encountered the giant Midtown Farmer's Market, which covered a number of blocks. I can't think of anything to say about the hotel, but I would gladly stay there again.

No in room microwave but there is one in the lobby which I used. Being a person with food malabsorption issues I was so happy to see hard boiled eggs available with continental breakfast. An incredible bonus! Our room faced east giving us a sunrise view to start the day. We will definitely keeping this hotel in our list of travel hotels we like.

As a woman traveling by myself, my safety and comfort are extremely important to me, so I made the decision to cancel the reservation and look for another hotel. What was most disappointing was how this situation was handled. I reached out hoping the hotel might be willing to work with me in some way--whether that meant accommodating my concerns, allowing me to stay under different circumstances, or simply trying to find a reasonable solution so I wouldn't lose the money I had already paid. Instead, I felt completely dismissed. My experience with Vee the General Manager, was especially upsetting. I found the interaction to be rude, insulting, and completely lacking in professionalism or basic customer service. A General Manager should be someone who understands that situations like this require empathy, patience, and an effort to find a solution--not someone who makes a customer feel worse for raising legitimate concerns. Unfortunately, this experience has affected not only my opinion of Governor's Inn, but also my trust in Expedia. I still have a couple of other reservations booked through Expedia that I will honor, but after those are completed, I will no longer be giving Expedia my business. I will also never book or recommend Governor's Inn again. Sometimes the smallest effort to accommodate a customer can make a huge difference. Unfortunately, I did not receive that effort here. Instead, I left feeling disrespected and disappointed. I am sharing this review because I believe other travelers--especially anyone traveling alone--deserve to know about my experience before making a reservation. Governor's Inn and Expedia have permanently lost my business. They don't deserve my time or business at all.

The person checking us in explained that they were sold out the night before which was the reason rooms weren't ready. I call BS as checkout is 11:00. Rooms should be ready by 3:30 period. Our room didn't end up being ready until 4:15. Besides that ridiculousness we had a great stay. I'm a big fan of The Embassy Suites product overall. Being a family of five it works out great. You can't beat the bigger room, free breakfast, free happy hour, and indoor pool/hot tub. Location is great right by the river. Very convenient to Old Town Sacramento, Downtown Sacramento, and right acroos the bridge from Sutter Health Park. Room was typical Embassy Suites Room with separate living room with pull out couch and bedroom. Room was very clean and appeared to be recently renovated. Enjoyed a dip in the hot tub as well. It was indoor along with the pool. Due to timing didn't get to take advantage of the free happy hour. Enjoyed the free breakfast in the morning. Many hot and cold items as well as made to ordet omelets which is amazing. I enjoyed my omelet. Will continue to stay at Embassy Suites Properties. They definitely need to make sure rooms are ready in a timely fashion.

One of my favorite features was the separate living area with a ceiling fan, making the room feel much more comfortable and spacious than a standard hotel room. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and valet parking made coming and going easy. We'd definitely stay here again.
