There were no relaxation chairs, and the spa amenities (steam and sauna only) felt more like a gym than a spa. The dressing room was small and could accommodate only one person at a time. Music came from a large TV on a "Zen" streaming channel, but commercials and ads repeatedly disrupted the atmosphere. The experience was further ruined when the manager attempted to shorten our massage time--despite our arriving early--because she spent 20 minutes giving a history lesson and guided tour of the home. The massage itself was great, but the overall experience was absolutely not worth the $450 price tab per person, including tip.

We stayed in the Happiness Loft, which was cute and unique. The pictures do note that it's not ideal for tall guests, and that's true -- the ceilings are quite low, but it worked fine for us. The highlight of our stay was definitely the spa. I had one of the best massages of my life, and the couples massage experience was wonderful. That said, it was on the pricey side, as was the room rate, though the charm of the property sets it apart from many other Sacramento options we looked at. Breakfast was good, but at $30 per person, it didn't feel like the best value compared to other places we've stayed. The biggest downside for us was the location -- while the hotel itself is lovely, the surrounding neighborhood didn't feel like a place where we could walk around and explore, so we found ourselves driving elsewhere for dinner and activities. Parking was also limited. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and are glad we experienced it. The service, cleanliness, and spa treatments are excellent, but for the price point, I'd likely explore other options next time. For us, this felt like a solid three-star experience.

He went inside as I waited in the car to check us in. When he came out to get me my first thought was okay this is different. Sterling Hotel by Wedgewood Events is a charming escape right in the center of Downtown Sacramento's action. The magnificent dome, stained-glass entry, and historically unique hotel is pretty well kept for its age. My favorite part of the room was the tub. The bed was comfortable and quiet, yay!! Huge and although the view from the window wasn't great I could see my car. Downtown Sac is known for its night life which we don't care for but it's not the safest place either. Parking was in the street and it's not free from 8am-10pm. There is a nearby garage but it's cheaper to park on the street. The short time I was there I didn't see any workers. But the note in our room did give us instructions if we needed further assistance. We aren't needy and don't like to be bothered so it was fine, just different. Breakfast were just to go bars and snacks, water bottles, and juices. But all in all clean hotel and quiet which makes me very happy.

I liked that the rooms were all a little different -- some, more modern than others. I personally would NOT stay here again simply for the fact that the hotel operates Airbnb style and you can't get in touch with an actual person after a certain time and there is no one on premises. My key card stopped working altogether so I called the emergency number only to be sent to voicemail three times and sent a text saying, "Hello how may i help you". The text was sent just like that. THANKFULLY, my brother had my spare and we were a large group staying on property for the wedding. Otherwise, I would have been a woman locked outside my room with no assistance after midnight. Beautiful ballroom and event space but certainly needs fine tuning on the "no staff available after 4:30p" CRAP. One of our guests had to call the police because they heard someone trying to force entry onto the premises around 1am Thursday night/Friday morning. The police were given the after hours emergency number so they could attempt to notify someone of the matter and could not get ahold of anyone. That should be self-explanatory.

You go up the steam boat which is very cool to me and the view of the water and the Ziggurat building in the back. If you sit outside on the deck you can see all this and the sunset behind the famous yellow Sacramento bridge. On this day we even saw sea lions lounging and one swimming around. It was January so it's cold and breezy, so make sure you dress accordingly . Our waitress was funny but it took a long time to get service. Inside the little bar area was full and so we had to go outside. We found out no actual meal until 5pm only apps and drinks. The drinks honestly were ok as well as the appetizers so that made us decide to go elsewhere for dinner. Its a touristy spot with its charm just not great food or drinks. Service is slow. Air conditioning was good. Unfortunately, the advertised underground parking garage was full and we were told to park elsewhere (apologetically). We used the info sheet they gave us to locate another garage. We chose one that was open to the public on weekends and happily skipped off to our concert at Golden 1 Center. We only found out the next morning at 8:30am that the garage didn't open until 11am. This was our fault for not noting the hours of the garage, but it soured us on the experience a bit. We ended up walking to breakfast (there is no breakfast at this hotel, despite the description on Yelp) and waiting for our car to be sprung from the garage. The description of this hotel should be updated to include the price of parking, the fact that parking is not guaranteed, and to say that there is no continental breakfast. Another reviewer said you can tell the employees are treated well, and I can see it too. I was impressed by how many staff were helping make the ample breakfast buffet operate so smoothly. Everyone guest got what they needed and more. There are two juice and coffee stations, two egg and bacon stations, omelette station with multiple chefs working SO hard (we tipped!). We got a room with a great view! 802...yes, by the elevator but didn't notice extra noise. I would say 510 looked the most private and would recommend if you're ok with accessible (I thought that we had this room first so went to check it out). We never opted in to housekeeping but got towels and an extra blanket when we needed them. Staff easily directed me to a water filling station under the lobby stairs. The pool was small, but never too crowded...a bit too cold for my baby unfortunately but my older kid loved it. The hot tub was pleasant. Yes, it's more of a kids area on holidays and weekends (not sure about work week). That was great for us. The included happy hour was also great! The night we visited they had a complimentary specialty margarita and a list of complimentary wines and beers and a ton of snacks! Chips and salsa, pretzels, house made pita chips and hummus. Removing one star because our room was a bit stuffy and vaguely smelled like whatever the prior guest heated in the microwave but we got used to it quickly. I'm super sensitive to smells and hardly noticed after a bit. Also the bright lights on the outside of the 8th floor windows are BRIGHT and hard to get the living room area dark due to the hall lights (kids slept there). We survived. The atrium was fun for the kids to see their friends and the breakfast was wonderful! The hardest part for me was waking up to a pretty serious water leak above my bed dripping consistently on the pillow next to me. I immediately called the front desk and the person I spoke with didn't seem concerned at all and said the engineer wasn't in until 7am. My daughter was sleeping soundly, but having a steady flow of water dripping on my bed meant I was up at 4:45am with a third full day of education ahead of me. Literally nothing was done to improve the situation and I just hope and pray the leak was fixed before they put anyone else in the room. It would have been nice to offer SOMETHING to make things right. Don't stay in room 420 or at least ask if the water leak has been fixed!
