I have been using Vivint's home security system for the past 12 years and I have never been disappointed with the service. I recently added on a new service, in addition to the basic home security service that includes door breaks, window breaks and motion sensors I added the key-less deadbolt. Jason was my tech and he arrived on time. My scheduled time was 8am to 10 am and he was at my door at 8am. Vivint did a good job of confirming the apt. time with me prior and Jason called when he was on his way. Once he got work he realized my system needed a few updates so he took that on as well. The deadbolt installation went smoothly because he the right tools for a job. We have a 100 year old house with 100 year old doors so nothing is ever easy but he handled all the little pop up issues. While he was working he told me all the features of the deadbolt. After the install he was patient with helping me program the new system and actually showing me the features and made sure I understood. This was an act of shear patience on his part because I am not tech savvy. He did not try to sell me any additional products but he did make me aware of some new technology that may be useful to me in the future and at some point I will be adding on to my current system. I would highly recommend Jason with Vivint and all the Vivint services. read more

I'm only given it a one star because there's no zero. Their sales people are cons and their customer service stinks. They tricked my mother-in-law into taking an upgrade by telling her there was no charge and charged her over $1000 after installing the upgrades and then told her there's nothing that you can do you have to pay it even though she canceled it within the three day cancel period. Taking advantage of the seniors in my opinion is one of the most shadiest things you can do Beware of Vivint. read more

DO NOT REFER TO VIVINT! They are refusing to give me the 200 dollars referral because I do not have the referral number. I decided to go to VIVINT and the gentleman who sold me the system told me if I had any referrals to send them his way. I did so and made a sale for him, but he never responded back after the new system was installed. Not cool nor fair for VIVINT not to honor the referral all because I did not have the referral number. My system was less then three weeks old myself. This is the worst system ever. That phone app never works. They tricked me into a 5 year contract! Thank God that's up in August! NEVER USE THIS COMPANY ITS A SCAM! THEIR PRODUCTS DO NOT LAST. I have replaced the doorbell 3 times still at cold temperatures does not work. You can not cancel at anytime they charge you the full 5 years to buy out your contract. Which I would have never signed had I known it was a 5 year contract. I have asked for help with the app multiple times they always say it's down in your area it will be back up shortly. Con artist! 5 year contract you can cancel but you have to pay for the full 5 years upon cancelation. Was NOT told that by the sales person was told I could cancel anytime only have to pay off equipment. Equipment! I have a motion detector I have a cat. I was told no no the cat won't set it off. Yes it does can't turn it on or the cops show up. And it's a 250 charge after 3rd false alarm. They take their payments automatically within a range of 7 days never on the day the told you. The app works 50% of the time the videos people are digitized you can't see them. Doorbell at low Temps doesn't work. Only picks up people during the day. Spoke with the rep that knocked on my door at 8pm and asked to speak with a supervisor. Spoke with the supervisor who told me to "take it easy fella ,a lot of people want what we have". Had neighbors complaining that they knock consistently and even return when no one answers the door. Try leaving a flyer on the door next time instead of earning yourselves bad google reviews. Called into number on website. Got hung up on. I would not give control to anything on my home to this company. read more

Harrasing and Stalkerish sales tactics. They drop these college kids off in neighborhoods to walk around all day. They make note of who's home and who's not. They are in our neighborhood from morning and knocking on our doors at 9:30 p.m. They ignore No Soliciting signs. And there is a pandemic going on and they don't use masks! They walk up to you as you're getting out of your car to trap you into a speech. This company is putting both people and their sellers at risk with this approach. read more

Despite my neighborhood being closed with no trespassing signs, despite having multiple signs of my own that say do not trespass- we are not interested - no solicitation -we are not interested up a rather long driveway with most of those signs done in a funny humorous way to get the point across ....every year... every August, I have a different agent show up knocking at my door insisting on speaking with me - One might think it's very targeted marketing...and one agent today said there was nothing he could do to stop it. . read more

Beware of Vivint sale people. Ours stated numerous time that we were not under contract and could cancel at any time. We found out later that we were on the hook for $3200.00 for the equipment. I tried to negotiate with Vivint but they Would not negotiate. The equipment that was installed was not worth $3200.00. BEWARE! We have had several problems and each time it took multiple phone calls and weeks to get our system fixed. read more

I signed up in May. The tech said our home would be perfect and that they would waive the cost of the equipment fee and only pay the monthly service fee. Apparently that's a lie. I now have a line of credit through Citizens One. I signed the papers and did the video all while the tech was talking to me distracting me from what I was signing. After they signed us up, we had a tech come and install it at 8:30pm. He was struggling and called for help from 2 others. While I was with the one in my house the others were in the garage. I went out of check in on them and person number 4 showed up. He was laying in my hammock. I asked what he was doing and he said he was off the clock. Also, I called him out for being high and he said he was. On top of that, the main service tech left 2 holes in my walls and terribly patched along with a broken dead bolt. I called and complained to cancel. Vivint of course offered a lower price which was $31 a month. Again they did not mention the line of credit during that time. They also said I could cancel at any time. Citizen One or a line of credit was not mentioned at that time. Fast forward a couple months down the road and I see $53 coming out of my bank account along with the $31. When I called Citizens One they stated it was from Vivint. I then called Vivint and they told me I couldn't cancel or less the equipment fee was paid off which was several thousand dollars. I spoke with a manager and he confirmed that I had to pay off the remainder before cancelling. After an hour and a half on the phone and explaining multiple times, it got nowhere. read more

He was able to successfully resolve my issues, explained everything that was done & made sure to answer/clarify any questions before he departed. We have painfully been waiting to finish our contract with Vivint and will have a party once that day comes. The equipment is so overpriced and has never been fully operational since installation. It's very glitchy at best. The absolute worst part is having to contact them about ANYTHING.... you can expect to be on hold for a very long time. If you enjoy being endlessly harassed via text, phone call or having random salesmen show up unannounced at your door at 7:30 at night, this is your company. I was looking for a new home security provider and called Vivint. WORST MISTAKE EVER. To this day, I still cannot get off of their mailing list because they have multiple email addresses that bombard your email. I have tried blocking, unsubscribing, creating filters to stop them and nothing works. This Utah based company will stop at nothing to get you to sign up. I have no idea if their service is any good or not, but if their sales approach is similar to their service, I would be inclined to just say absolutely not to this company. During one phone call, a representative said "they are always looking for qualified client such as yourself." This is the first time I have ever felt so strongly about a companies business practice that it prompted me to leave a negative review, which I generally avoid at all measures. A Vivint soliciter has been roaming through our neighborhood for 3 days harassing everyone in our neighborhood. She's banged on doors rudely and has gone to each home at least 3-4 times stating she's not leaving until everyone in the neighborhood has one of their systems. The police have been called every day she's been in the neighborhood and have asked her to leave, but as soon as they leave, she returns. The third time she returned to our neighbor's home, he backed her off the porch swing a baseball bat. Another neighbor had to bring out his snarling dog to get her to leave. We all called the company and after many attempts finally got to speak to someone who provided us bogus phone numbers that weren't even in service. Our neighborhood has no soliciting signs posted everywhere and they are ignored by these crazy solicitors working for VIVINT. Everyone in the neighborhood who fell for their horrible sales tactics have been very dissatisfied in the installation and customer service. These creepy solicitors even roamed our neighborhood on Memorial Day, which is illegal in Kentucky. BEWARE of this scamming company. read more

Awful customer service. Continues to make excuses for faulty devices, talking in circles when you're asking questions and providing evidence about their lack of service, and not providing the security service in our contract agreement. We have had several occasions where stuff was stolen from or unwelcomed people walking straight up to our front door to leave things within the view of our vivint cameras and conveniently nothing was ever recorded. These incidents happened over the course of 2+ years. We have had several service calls we had to pay $50 per visit because their devices are trash and weren't providing the service we were paying for, I don't understand how they justify that we should have to pay for that. Now even though they have failed to provide security service to us they refuse to let us out of the agreement. Worst security system ever, don't bother wasting your money it's a scam. I am both alarmed and disgusted. The sales person for this company is knocking on doors and still on my street at 10:00 pm. This behavior is rude and unacceptable. He will not take no for an answer and has clearly had no real sales training whatsoever. If he is being paid by this company, they may want to rethink their hiring and/or training practices. I can assure you that purely because of this person's behavior in my neighborhood this week, I will specifically avoid this company when looking for a security system and I will share this with friends and family as well. very very disappointing. Our neighborhood has "No Solicitation" signs everywhere but that doesn't stop this guy from knocking on doors. A representative from this company came to our home uninvited and not only that it was about 8pm on a National holiday. I understand some companies are open on certain holidays but for those of us lucky enough to be off being bothered by a door to door salesman is a bit annoying when trying to spend time with loved ones. The representative himself then went on to tell me his life story of how he immigrated here from Russia instead of just telling me his purpose in coming to my home. When I asked him what it was he needed he ignored my question and instead went on to make more insignificant small talk. Honestly the entire thing felt like a scam and he wasted about 15 minutes of my day just to be told I have another security provider and never made it past my front walk. While the technicians that have been coming to my house to fix this 6 month old problem with my door locks have been nice the problem still exists. Beware the system apparently doesn't work in all areas and they will not cancel your contract because they can't service your area. I believe the attitude they have is one of "they have you under contract and you will pay." They have Loyalty Department that keeps you loyal by strong arming you into keep paying or else. read more

Definitely would not recommend. Just as another review discussed, I was also asked to lie about the homeowner being home because I rent my home. I was with the understanding it was to give their permisson to have them install it but it rather made then financially responsible. I was also told that there would be no payment due upon installation and found out a few days later they charged me $100. The sales person was contacted and apologized and said that he messed up and would pay the $100 himself (Which never happened) Several attempts where made to "Make it right" which all attempts were not followed through with it. After a couple of months and overdraft charges later I wanted to cancel the contract and was told I couldn't because too many days had passed. I would have cancelled it earlier but the promises to fix their mistakes was the only reason I didnt. There has not been 1 month that has passed that I haven't had a problem with billing or expected refunds. I feel like it was very deceitful how they run their in home sales and felt I was completely screwed into a contract in which they did not hold up their part of the bargain. They conveniently came in at a time where (as a single mother) I had kids running all around and felt very pressured to just get it all done. Very unethical. The company lured me in with all of the cool features three years ago. All features are not outdated and one can find better surveillance and alarm coverage through local companies and via Amazon. Some of my features (lights) haven't works since day one, yet there's nothing they can seem to do to lower my bill. They say they will send updated equipment and parts, but said items never arrive. I just contacted them about downgrading service (I really don't want to go through all of this with another company) and my security camera no longer works. They will send a new one, but want to charge me $4 for shipping. Yes, I can afford $4, but it's the principle of the matter! Don't send me crap devices and then force me to pay for shipping. I'm an Amazon Prime member; I don't even know what shipping costs are these days :). That said, the monitoring is good, and I like the weather alerts that come through the panel in extreme weather (only happened once--much better than the apps and a weather radio for ME), but with the poor customer service and hard time getting to the bottom of anything, I would say avoid the men in orange and find a local company for your security needs. read more
