Jan, two weeks before monthly payment was due, I informed Rhodes in writing that I was forfeiting my membership and would never be there again and told her never to contact me again; I stopped reading email. I was realized and happy to get away from her and happily joined 5 Star. June 05, 2025, I broke both of my arm & a toe. This morning 6/10 an over zealous "Rambo" young sheriff banged on my door around 7am. The sheriff's exact shouting words were, ".....I have a report that you are bothering people at Viva Fit.....uh the owners says you are bothering people at Viva Fit...." Translation, "....she had the audacity to cancel her membership and leave a bad review, so I am weaponizing the sheriff department as revenge" I have dealt with San Bernardino Sheriff many times and none have ever conducted themselves in this inappropriate manner. I demanded he leave and never enter my property again. I have not been to Viva Fit gym since canceling my membership in January. I have driven by it to shop at Grocery Outlet - guilty. I regularly go to the far superior senior center- guilty. I joined 5 Star- guilty. I like 5 star better- guilty. 5 star is fully compliant with service dog laws & adores my dog- guilty. I wrote a negative review- guilty. What is even more disturbing is that it is not possible for me to enter this gym. A membership code is required to enter; I am not a member. Additionally, owner claims she has 24 hours surveillance. If I had made this attempt there would be surveillance to prove claim. Rhodes mental stability is concerning since she knows I don't have a member code and she did not provide sheriff dept with surveillance she claims to have. Harassment did not end with sheriff incident. Two days later an APS worker came by with a written list of false claims that are not possible per laws of physics. Furthermore, APS protects the elderly & disabled; I am an APS recipient- guilty. APS has been to my house many times & has procured services to HELP ME; Ms Rhodes seems to believe they are a tool of revenge. Furthermore, gym owner's false report diverted attention away from elders & disabled people that need help & may be in legitimate danger. I hate writing a negative review of a small woman owned business, but the owner has pulled some pretty sketchy stuff and I think it's only fair to warn others looking to improve themselves and find a community. First off, the late fees seem to have pretty sketchy things going on. I recognize a business needs to protect itself, but I have seen and heard from others that card declines seem to be a regular issue for this business even if you have a valid card and the money in your account. When I cancelled my membership in June of 2023 I paid the fees amounting to nearly $200 dollars I received a receipt and a charge on my account and went on my way. Today February 9th 2025 (almost two years later) the owner texted me in a group chat with a "collection" agent stating that I still owed $132.50. Not only was the "collection agents" number not attached to a valid agency, but I am also pretty sure thats not how collection agencies work. If my debt had been sold to a collection agency I should be dealing with this through them and not the owner herself. NOW HERES THE GOOD STUFF. This text comes after my brother left a negative review on her page. Him and his girlfriend had a membership and cancelled around the same time as me. Our names are incredibly similar and have been mixed up from time to time, but because he wrote a review she came after me thinking I had left the review. FUNNY how her immediate response to someone writing a review was to bring up owed charge from two years ago. Mind you, not once did she reach out before this situation to get a payment. This whole situation is a testament to the owners disorganization and tendency to be vindictive. I am happy to pay anything I owe, but I did demand proof that my transaction never went through on their end. I really loved going to this gym. I appreciated the quiet atmosphere and simple machines. I actually hoped to return because the hours had been extended and fit better with my inconsistent schedule. I just want to start off by saying I drive 45 minutes to be a member at Viva. I wanted to share my experience so far with the 7 months I've been around, after seeing a nasty post from people I've never even seen around the gym. I signed up with the owner Elisha, She explained to me all the packages she offered and how the cancellation works all while having a paper for me to sign and read myself. The gym is pricy but I can't complain, the upper vibe clientele makes me feel comfortable as I am a business owner myself and like to get a workout in fast without a bunch of kids on equipment and people who aren't there to make a life change. I've taken classes a few times and all the members are encouraging and I enjoy the coaches. I noticed the bad things that are said about the gym is about the cancellations fess or peps who never been clients and like to jump in and be bully's. read your contract peps. I am happy to have found a clean gym that has everything I need to continue my fitness journey and stay healthy. Elisha you are doing amazing, ignore the people who have never step a foot into your gym to see what it's about, only going off of what they "heard". You will always have haters when it comes to owning a business but remember you are successful and that's why you are where you are!! they are behind a screen going off what someone said thats not necessarily the full truth. I had an absolutely terrible experience with this gym, and I strongly advise anyone considering joining to think twice. The owner's business practices are predatory and unethical. When I initially signed up, the contract was filled with fine print, including an exorbitant cancellation fee that was not clearly explained. When I needed to cancel my membership due to a relocation, I was hit with a ridiculous fee that felt like a blatant cash grab. To make matters worse, years after I thought the matter was resolved, I received a threatening letter from a collection agency claiming I owed additional fees. This was completely unexpected and unprofessional. The owner clearly has no regard for their patrons and is more interested in squeezing every last penny out of people than providing a positive experience. The gym itself is mediocre at best, but the owner's shady tactics and lack of transparency make it impossible to recommend. Save yourself the headache and avoid this place at all costs. Love this gym! It's clean, well thought out , organized, and never packed--just perfect for staying consistent without the usual gym chaos. The 24/7 access is a total game changer, and the equipment selection is exceptional: everything is high-quality, well-maintained, and clearly chosen with intention. What really makes this place stand out is the owner. He genuinely cares about his members, communicates quickly, and goes above and beyond to keep everything running smoothly. He was even responsive over Thanksgiving, making sure members felt supported and informed. That level of dedication is rare. Business lacks amenities for the price in my opinion. Would also consider the business to be disorganized, they attempted to charge me again after canceling, and then accused me years later of owing money, when it was someone else. They did not apologize for the mistake despite posting it publicly. The business is also known to use scare tactics to bully patrons, including submitting cease and desist and submitting incorrect debt collections. Due to my personal experience, if I could give a rating of 0 stars I would. Everything listed within this review is a valid and verifiable claim, with photo proof, if Yelp would like to attempt to remove it again I will just post another review. Hello everyone. I am Debra Savitt. Dr of Chiropractic and Hospice Chaplain. I love Elisha the owner of VivaFit. She is a person of heart, she is always fair and runs a very personable gym. She is a great communicator, teacher, owner and has high spiritual values. I have taught belly dancing at the gym. I love this gym and all of the people there. I hope you will join. Shawn teaches classes 4 days a week, circuit training and kick boxing. I am buff at age 73 because of Shawn and Elisha. Also, Michele teaches Zumba and the Saturday Yoga classes are fabulous.
