I have stage 4 RCC and dealing with pain management and my oncologist had become ridiculous…read more Instead of me telling them what I needed and what my concerns were they told me basically how I felt, how I thought and provided no relief at all it just felt like a money grab as most healthcare facilities are. Vitas come on once I decided to end chemo as it was not working and cost me 12000 in dental work. From day one they listened they let me talk they let me tell them how I felt. They put together a plan and have been nothing short of exceptional so far. I now receive equipment that I need and the correct medications so that I can possibly enjoy the rest of the time I have with my family. Maybe I just got lucky but I pray that anyone else using Vitas has the same experience that I have. Honestly I actually have hope which is something I haven't had in 2 plus years. God Bless.

DO NOT ALLOW YOUR LOVED ONES TO BE CARED FOR BY THIS COMPANY…read more I used this company personally after leaving the hospital. Lack of organization is an understatement. The very first night I had a person who was subbing in for my team come to the house. After a FaceTime with a Dr. I was prescribed medication for the pain only to find out a week later from another Dr. that this should never have been prescribed to me because it is bad for my liver (THE WHOLE REASON I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL AND UNDERWENT SURGERY). My wound opened up and I was bleeding through bandages and needed help. I called and 3 hours later and multiple phone calls still no one showed up so a family friend had to take me to the hospital which completely defeats the purpose of having 24/7 service. They have a deep need to visit you on their timeline and schedule and no real care for when YOU need it. I had someone try to set up an appointment day of because they 'were in the area and just wanted to stop by'. I needed medical services and that takes a back seat to repetitive questions and multiple individuals asking questions as if they have no filing system so best of luck they will remember what meds you are on without a new person asking for yet another complete rundown of what you are taking. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. I am not on here rating this because I am upset. I am rating this so that a loved one is not lost in their stupid system and suffers needlessly in pain. I would never nor will ever recommend this company. Their industry is pain mediation and you will spend more time telling them what you already told 5 other people then them actually caring for you. Still waiting on the medical equipment I requested VITAS. I hope someone has the time and patience to sue the hell out of you guys but until then all I can do is warn people how truly useless you have been when all I needed was some bandages and minor medical equipment but sure I guess I'll go fetch those things which makes you obsolete and grossly unneccessary and overpaid.

Unfortunately, who you invite into your home can be disastrous. In all honesty, our first experience with Vitas for my Father-in-Law (not necessarily this office--Vitas has many facilities around Central Florida) was not that great because WE were inexperienced, and the first health care attendant they provided was brand new. Also, it was all over in 48 hours--it takes time to figure out what services are available, and how to get services and equipment when you need them. Still, the net impact of our first experience was positive so when my Mother-in-Law began declining quickly we again called Vitas. This time we had the benefit of our previous experience, and Grandma was in hospice almost two weeks. Most importantly, we had Sunshine. Sunshine (her real name) arrived, and let me say that she is the embodiment of her name in every sense. She's an experienced RN and a bundle of energy, all smiles, hugs and good advice. We were spellbound! Shortly, we began meeting our care providers, and we also began asking for several of them by name. Yaira arrived early on the scene and helped bathe and dress Grandma. We met Candy B. who is wonderful (very sweet and patient). At our request, she worked several extra shifts for us. Cindy is wonderful as well, and she advised us that Suzette, who was the brightest part of this company our first time around was still working for the company on weekends while she completes the last semester of her studies, when she too will earn her RN diploma. We asked for her, and she was here for us again as well. Candy and Suzette each worked at least three 12-hour shifts. It's important to note that Dr Pham, the physician who attended, came to our home at least three times. Twice she was here well in excess of a half hour. With a wonderful bedside manner, she spent as much time with us as with Grandma. The young men who delivered the bed, oxygen concentrator and supplies were also very considerate. They also returned immediately after my Mother-in-Law passed to remove that equipment, which is more important than it sounds as I write this. The days following a death are difficult and moving from hospice to planning a funeral in another state is a nightmare. Both of our loved ones passed in our home with all of their family at their side. That was our goal. This is an event each of us must face, but knowing that we were there for them every step of the way provided peace and comfort to all of us--not just our departed parents. Thank you Vitas for making this possible.

Do not believe the five star ratings that you have seen here they are a complete utter and outright lie. They aren't keeping track of her prescriptions. We see them once a week. We haven't seen an aid for two weeks and we cannot even get medicine filled. It's like they really just want the people to die. My father was only in their hospice care for about 45 days before I kept him home up to five days before he died in Cornerstone the grief counselor would not give me counseling because she didn't like the way that I looked wrap your mind around that didn't like the way that I looked. They never found us grief counseling. I'm coming up on losing both of my parents within one year. They don't care they don't offer any services except a volunteer to sit and speak with my mother and she doesn't even want that. They've never given us any community resources to help me out in doing errands or small things around the house and I am burnt out they know it. They know that my actual life was in jeopardy. I had a stroke. My mental health is failing and I'm not able to be there for my mother the way I was with my dad. This is a direct result of the care that we are not receiving from this organization. We don't even know her new team the nurse or the aid or the social worker. Let me just tell you, Leslie the first Social Worker was horrible. It's hard to believe that she even has a license. I'm a social worker so I know I worked in family court for 20 years. The quality of people that they provide is just not good. We tipped them all $50 at Christmas the team separately never heard of thank you and this is the kind of car you get. I just spoke with Jamie today and she literally would not let me get a word in edgewise so I just hung up please if you have a loved one and you want compassion do not under any circumstances use Cornerstone trust me when I say they honestly do not care about a dying person or a patient that needs help and they definitely don't care about the caregiver. After speaking with Our Medicare, we are not receiving the services. We are entitled to, and they've never sent us supplies for personal use no pull-ups no nothing but yet they've build Medicare proving once again. Anything in this area is fraudulent charging to Medicare stay tuned.

There was NO organization, no compassion, no care. Knowing on Friday my father would be discharged Saturday, no emergency medications sent to home, wrong address for supplies to be delivered & for my father to be transported... No hospice nurse to meet us in the home to help set us up and assess my father. No appropriate supplies available in an emergency situation. Hospital bed and supplies remain in home 3 days and given a TWELVE hour window on 3rd day as to when they will be picked up. I do not recommend Cornerstone Hospice, as I told Therese on the phone this afternoon; as a healthcare provider I will not recommend Cornerstone to any of my colleagues. There were many other issues that occurred that are to painful to write at this time- please look else where for another hospice for your families care.

Our family's experience with this hospice during my mother's final days was deeply disappointing…read moreand distressing. During a time when we were told she was deemed "imminent," there were significant gaps in support and communication. A scheduled comfort team visit did not occur, and a nurse declined to go upstairs, leaving us without in-person medical support when we needed it most. After my mother's passing, I received condolence calls from leadership, but I did not receive timely written acknowledgment of my grievance or contact from the grievance team, despite repeated attempts to follow up. Communication was inconsistent, and I was left feeling unheard and unsupported during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. Hospice care is meant to provide comfort, guidance, and presence--not confusion or fear. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. I hope the company reflects on how their processes impact families in crisis and makes improvements so others do not go through what we did.
