My father has been a resident of Mt. Carmel for over five years. I am continually amazed at the…read morehomelike environment the owner and staff are able to create for the residents. It has truly allowed my father to regain some of the normalcy that he had prior to developing Alzheimers. I am also eternally great full for the experienced care he has recieved. My father was a resident of several other assisted living facilities in the area which supposedly specialized in Alzheimers care. However, that basically meant most of the residents took prescriptions to calm them down. Once my father came to Mt. Carmel, his medication was drastically reduced and he was able to participate in group activities and socialize with other residents and staff. I always recommend Mt. Carmel to anyone with an aging loved one suffering from Alzheimers. They are simply the best!

I just saw the review from William R. and I could not disagree more strongly. I am very sorry that…read morehe and his family member are in the situation they are as am I with my Dad, however this is the second home my dad has been in and even though the first place was more modern and had very nice staff and was only minutes from my home, it doesn't come close to the quality of care and understanding the staff and management at Mt. Carmel have for their extended family. The first thing that attracted me was the comfy homey feel and the way the residents were able to walk around without restriction, but also had resting places as needed, nice outdoor areas which all means alot to Alzheimers/Dementia suffers and most of all many of the staff members have been there for more than 15 years witch means alot to me and my family. I visit often and bring my grandchildren and have never been disappointed except for some missing eye glasses or socks but this to should be expected at this point in our loved ones life. We are the ones who now have to adjust, understand and just love them as they have loved us in the past......May GOD BLESS all who walk through this time in our lives with us and for us and those who don't understand yet.!

My mom spent 5 years at the glen memory care at the glen. My family and I witnessed their quality…read moreof care for my mom decline year by year. During the pandemic it was awful. We had to have meetings about how my mom was being neglected ( food all over her, her room a mess, smelled, my moms hygiene was poor ) this is a private very expensive facility and we were promised a high level of care. My mom passed last weekend and we came within hours of her death to clean out her room. We were assured by two employees ( two separate times that day) that we could bag up my moms clothes, and furniture we did not want, leave them on the floor of her room and they would arrange for a charity to pick her things up donation. We cleaned the room of all Her personal belongings and told the employees we left what we wanted donated in her room. No one from the glen was waiting for us when we arrived to tell us protocol, or how we need to leave the room. Just the daily care takers were there to answer questions. Days later my dad called to make sure all was good and was informed that we would be charged $175 a day until her room was clear. I called and explained how several of their employees had assured us the donations would be picked up and taken care of. This was on THEM ( the glen ) they should be training their employees to know proper protocol during end of life for these precious patients and their families. And not charge them hundreds of dollars after they have spent hundreds of thousands over the years for their loved ones. They should have done the right thing in this situation and honored what we had been told by THEIR employees! We had to come back up there and clear out her room- while we are grieving and planning my moms memorial. The glen should have honored what they told us they would do and take care of this. The supervisors, directors, and everyone in management at the glen lack a personal and empathetic ear when issues come up. It's all about money there- that's all they care about. Do not put your loved one at the glen- they will sell you a beautiful picture of how they will take care of your loved one when in fact you are only dollar signs for them. End of life care should always be handled with extra care, sensitivity and love. The glen falls short.
