If you have to see a nurse Denise, Beth, Irene and others are top notch. The office staff Mandee, Tammy, Jon along with others are great and will not hesitate to help on the donor floor when needed. And the staff on the donor floor is exceptional and knowledgeable about what needs to be done. Jordann, Ray, Stacy, Cheyenne, Carrie, PK Brydii and others make you feel like one of the family. Always smiling while doing their work. There is some joking and laughter amongst all, but above all they are professionals I recommend giving this location a shot if your planning on starting to donate, you will not be disappointed. Allow yourself some time for your first donation, it takes a little longer than the donations that will follow. I enjoy the chance to see everyone and maybe share in a laugh which is needed sometimes after a long day at work, or first thing in the morning. Make sure you hydrate the day before and the day of your donation, this will make your donation faster. Avoid fried food and dairy the day before and the day of because this will slow down your donation time. Steve L.

MORTIFIED! That's what many people would be when publicly disclosing that they donated plasma for…read moremoney. I'm not those people. The process was pretty easy. Show up with a social security card, I.D., and proof of residence, answer some questions, watch a few videos, get your weight & blood pressure checked & you're in. The paperwork & videos are for first timers only & take about an hour. The plasma collection itself takes roughly another hour. Here's the process. You're seated in an upholstered reclining thing and a friendly phlebotomist inserts a port into your arm. The machine separates the plasma from the rest of your blood and gives you the balance back. The port isn't really painful, but it is a little uncomfortable. I was paid $100 for my time & plasma, which is well more than I make per hour at my job. This is an introductory rate, however, and the typical donation probably earns far less. How much less you ask? I don't know because the CSL website makes no mention of the typical rate. Closely guarded secret? Annoying. Afterwards: I didn't feel great. I was tired and hungry with a slight headache. Hangover isn't the right word for the symptoms, but it is def in the hangover family. No matter, a two hour nap took care of 90% of the feeling and I was 100% myself the next day. This is NOT something I'd recommend doing before work or on a day where you have important things to accomplish. Also, get there early and beat the rush. Unsurprisingly, regular plasma donors are NOT generally early risers. I'm going to do this again, as my next donation will also net me 100 clams for an hour sitting in a chair. After that, we'll see how far the compensation is reduced before I decide to return.

The second donation I mistakenly answered the question wrong, therefore I had to wait 3 hours to see the nurse. The last two times I went to donate and once again, I was waiting a little over 3 hours to see the nurse to check a bruise that they did. I managed to speak with the manager and she could not override nothing. I work in a hospital so I totally understand the shortage of staff. but there is no reason for the phlebotomist to get trained to identify what is problematic for the nurse to oversee. It is very frustrating wasting time for the nurse to see you for 2 minutes while you could been done donating 2 hours ago! Something needs to change!

Nobody makes eye contact because the donors are not respected at all. They scraped the bottom of the barrel when they hired incompetent "NURSES" who let people sit and wait because they can't figure out something on the computer! 2 nurses walked past me 4 times purposely looking at the floor so as not to have to acknowledge a person waiting. I'm not even sure why this is legal. It could down to selling your plasma. Not sure what I was thinking!

Location for blood and platelets donation…read more Staff cordial and I am appreciative of them being there but for a 2 hour visit required to donate platelets could check on client a wee bit more often to see if we are comfortable, need anything, and give us a status of how much longer. By measures of ARC in Manchester, NH as a somewhat regular for a bit, Vitalant staff could focus a bit more on customer service. 2 hours is a long commitment. And afterwards there were no refreshments, no cookies, no drinks. That is a novel experience over any I ever had with any of my American Red Cross experiences giving blood or platelets. ARC bent over backwards to acknowledge donors and make sure they sat for a spell and took in some food and drink so they didn't pass out. Oookkkk... I am gonna assume no cookies or drink is because of the current Coronacrisis which makes total sense and lack of said cookies musta deprived me of oxygen to think of that!
