I couldn't take photos inside for privacy reasons but I will try to describe to invoke your own…read morevision. My very first visit and first donating plasma anywhere. It is huge, efficient, clean, organized, and filled with happy-seeming employees who are eager to let me, the first timer, know each step of the way how it works. I came in, no appointment, but prepared because of their website to have ready my social security card, my gov issued ID, and a utility bill proving my address. I got my veins checked, watched a video of the ins and outs, answered 65 questions at a private kiosk to vette my donating status, got weighed, blood pressure taken, finger pricked. Even an annual physical done (all clothes on). Whew! Then I was deemed donor worthy and got to donate. If you are already a platelets donor you will be one-up on the process for the most part with some differences. Apheresis (they say smaller needle) bit takes less time. That part took me about 30 minutes. Unlike platelet giving where they give you a warm blanket, you can bring your own jacket or blanket here. Every single staff member, and there were many I interacted with, were cordial, professional, and just plain nice. Oh. And you get paid not for your plasma but for your time. Yeah. I'm onboard.

I would recommend the CSL plasma located along Williamson Penn highway in wilkens township to…read moreeveryone. The center is extremely clean and the staff is top notch. From the screaning staff, Sarah, Morgan and others. To the nurses Denise, Beth and others, to the office staff, Mandee, Jon, Tammy to name a few. Then to the staff on the donor floor, Jordann, Ray, Cheyenne, Carrie, Stacy, PK and others that are great at their job. Above all they are professional with a little bit of joking and laughter amongst all. And that alone helps keep it lively and not feeling like your in a doctor's office. I enjoy a little laughter after a hard day of work or in the morning before you go to work. The only thing is some times I wish there were a few more people to help when it gets busy. So if you are thinking about starting to donate I highly recommend that you give this location a shot, believe me you will not regret it. New doners give yourself some time it usually takes a little longer for the first donation so I would recommend going between 8am and 3pm. After that you can go anytime on your two donation days. Stay away from fried foods and dairy the day before and the day of the donation and drink plenty of water the day before and day of. The more hydrated you are the quicker your donation will be.

I've been donating blood here to years and truly think it's your duty to donate as such (unless…read moreyou're like my wife, deathly afraid of needles). The staff here is always pleasant, the facility is clean and I can't say anything but good things about the experience.

Vitalant is a blood bank that has locations across the country. Yesterday was my first time…read moredonating whole blood at this specific location on McKnight Road. Days before, I logged into their website to select a convenient time slot for my appointment. On the day of my appointment, I again logged in to complete my health questionnaire. When I entered the blood bank, a phlebotomist immediately greeted me. She soon started to type my information in her computer, and she took my vital signs and pricked my finger to test my iron levels. Several minutes later, she inserted a needle into my vein. She had a very good aim and found my vein on the first attempt. My blood drained into the bag quickly, and another phlebotomist removed the needle and bandaged my arm. Both phlebotomists had friendly personalities and provided good customer service. For the next 15 minutes, I sat at a table, where I rested and I ate snacks and drank juice. In total, I was at my appointment for about 35 minutes. Sufficient parking spaces were available outside. The blood bank looked clean, and the staff enforced social distancing and the wearing of face masks. Vitalant is testing all blood and platelet donations for COVID-19 antibodies, and I feel eager to find out my results.

I have been donating for over 10 years ? at this location…read moresince this place was open. Every one who works here is so nice, so caring and so friendly. You can get parking validated so PLEASE go there and donate. They said it is a big blood shortage this sumner. Thank you for your help!

I made my appointment with the Central Blood Bank online several days in advance. On the day of…read moredonation, I filled out a health history questionnaire online while I was home. I first did the questionnaire in my Firefox browser, but then I could not get my donation pass to print. As a result, I filled out the questionnaire a second time in my Explorer browser. This time the donation pass was able to print. I headed on over to the Central Blood Bank's downtown location. When I showed up, I was greeted by a phlebotomist. She took me back into a small office. She asked me some questions and then started up a health history questionnaire for me on her computer. I told her that I already did the questionnaire at home, and I showed her my donation pass. She said that I had to fill it out again, because she had already started it up. I was annoyed that I was filling out the questionnaire for the third time that day. Given my blood type, platelets are supposed to be most beneficial for me to donate, but the phlebotomist looked at me and said that my body was "too tiny" to donate platelets. With all of her questions and comments about my weight, I sort of felt like she thought that I was lying about my weight. I do weigh enough, based on my weighings at home before and after the donation. Maybe the center should have a scale so they can weigh people. So anyway... I donated whole blood instead. The phlebotomist continued to talk to me, maybe just to be friendly, but I was uncomfortable telling my life story in an open room for other people to hear. After donation of the blood, I was not dizzy at all, but I sat for several minutes to rest and to eat food and drink before I walked back home. I do have another appointment a few months from now. After six donations, you are supposed to get a $15 Visa gift card, which is not much money but is a bit of a thank you.

Made me feel important. Or in their words a "Hero". I felt safe in their hands while giving blood. That's the key in this business. Afterwards I was well taken care of in the rest/snack area. Highly recommended. Looking forward to the next donation. Stay safe!

Location for blood and platelets donation…read more Staff cordial and I am appreciative of them being there but for a 2 hour visit required to donate platelets could check on client a wee bit more often to see if we are comfortable, need anything, and give us a status of how much longer. By measures of ARC in Manchester, NH as a somewhat regular for a bit, Vitalant staff could focus a bit more on customer service. 2 hours is a long commitment. And afterwards there were no refreshments, no cookies, no drinks. That is a novel experience over any I ever had with any of my American Red Cross experiences giving blood or platelets. ARC bent over backwards to acknowledge donors and make sure they sat for a spell and took in some food and drink so they didn't pass out. Oookkkk... I am gonna assume no cookies or drink is because of the current Coronacrisis which makes total sense and lack of said cookies musta deprived me of oxygen to think of that!
