This is not an exaggeration...This is the most exceptional dental practice I have ever been to in my life. I was a little nervous finding a new dentist since moving to the area two years ago and I am so thankful I ended up here. From the first phone call with the receptionist, to seeing the hygienist and the doctor, to the final checkout the whole experience was AMAZING. The staff has an uncanny way of developing rapport that I have not encountered at any medical/dental office in the past. They made me feel like the most important patient being seen that day and this was only my first visit! I know I had a little catch-up work to be done in my mouth however the staff and doctor presented the treatment in a thorough, constructive, and reassuring way. The dentist showed me my xrays and photos to better help me understand what needed to be done and how to prevent other issues from reoccurring. It was refreshing to have a doctor sit with me and take time to explain in layman's terms what they were seeing and the reasoning behind the recommendations. Hands-down the best dental visit I have had in my life. The whole office was awesome helping me figure out what I needed to do to get my smile back to where I would be loving it again. My first appointment was centered around looking at my dental problems and a cleaning. The hygienist was very thorough with the X-rays, photos, and cleaning. I had never had photos before at a dentist's office and I saw my teeth in a way only dentists get to see them. She showed me the X-rays and photos and she made me feel like I was involved in recognizing the problems and solutions. The dentist I met was engaging and spent time reviewing the information the hygienist had gathered and again discussed what needed to be done and outcomes. He answered all my questions without me even having to ask. The whole appointment took about an hour and half but itcertainly did not feel that long. I felt very comfortable with the plan and I have scheduled my follow-up appointments. I would recommend this establishment to my closest friends and family. read more

Today I received a card from their office regarding my wife, with words of affirmation from events going on with our family. And that's the thing about this office... they listen, genuinely care, put in effort to go beyond in treatment, and the treatment is perfection time and time again. From reception, to hygienists, dentists, and staff... they are incredible top to bottom. My insurance was ending so they reworked scheduling to fit me in, rushed my crown to get it (and me) in early, and accommodated my schedule due to life events with family. They have been redoing work from my previous dentists that have fallen apart, and after many years, everything they have done is still perfectly spot on. I leave every visit thinking why did I not bring them a pie, or treats, or something, because they make me feel valued. Ever go into a business and you leave thinking one worker provided mindblowing service and it's too bad not everyone was like that? Vita is like that, except every person you deal with provides that. I'm just sad it took 5+ years to get my wife and kids transferred over. I don't know what they do for kids... but my kids came home hollering and excited from their cleaning, which seemed fishy haha, because their other dentist didn't get them this excited. If I could stand on top of the VOA Tower and profess my appreciation of the exemplary care I have received at Vita Dental I would. I have seen numerous dentists in my life and Dr. Shaftel and his staff are bar none the best. A year ago I came in with an infected tooth and that was the only issue I wanted taken care because I always associated dental work with a painful recovery. No only did he treat the bad tooth I had NO discomfort after. This experience got me to thinking that there may be painless ways to prevent the toothaches that I have been experiencing in my mouth every few years. At the urging of my wife and kids I finally made the decision to see what could be done for my mouth. Dr. Shaftel was thorough, compassionate, and explained in detail my options. I wanted to proceed slowly but after the first three I was so pleased with the care I decided to move as quick as possible to get everything else done that I had been neglecting for years. My faith in what can be accomplished in dentistry was restored by Vita Dental. Beware - find another dentist! While the dentists themselves are nice the front office staff are RUDE and CONFRONTATIONAL...I've never experienced such terrible customer service in my life. I truly hope the dentists read this and realize what's going on up front! About a year ago my husband had a filling for which he received an estimate before hand and paid the balance that the insurance didn't cover. After the service and payment, we received another bill for an additional $36. My husband called the office multiple times to inquire about the bill, but never received a response to his voicemails. He decided that he would talk to the office about the bill at his next appointment in June....that appointment was cancelled due to the dentists summer vacation schedule. Today we were scheduled to go in for our normal cleanings (we again planned to talk to the office about the account balance since the billing person never returned our calls). The office had no record of the appointments even though they were scheduled a month in advance. Instead of the receptionist and another woman, who I'm assuming is the office manager, being apologetic about not having our appointments on the schedule, they tried to tell us (in a very demeaning and confrontational way) that they didn't schedule our appointments because our account was sent to collections a week ago. We never received calls to cancel our appointments and they never mentioned a month ago, when we scheduled, that they couldn't schedule our appointments due to an account balance. In addition to all this, the office used to have Saturday appointments which they no longer offer and it's next to impossible to get weeknight appointment. We'll definetly be finding another dentist office. Nobody should be treated with such disrespect. read more

Vita has surpassed every expectation of what a doctor's office can be. The design of the office is modern and exceptionally clean. I love the fact that they always seem to be updating to the latest technology to provide me the best cutting edge dentistry. They are also the only dentist I have been to that reviews your teeth photos and X-rays with you on a big tv monitor in the treatment room. I do not know why more dentists don't do this as it is very informative and helps me understand what is going on. I'll give them credit they are great at patiently explaining even complex treatment in terms I can understand. The treatment rooms are private with tvs and headphones to distract us dentalphobes and make the appointments seem like they go faster. Even though the accoutrements are wonderful, what sets this office apart is Dr Schaftel and Dr Jordan. Not once have I ever been in where I felt rushed or just some patient. It may sound cliche but I honestly I feel like I am being treated like a friend of the doctors. A perfect example is that I have always gotten a phone call from the doctors the day after treatment to check on me. What doctor does that these days!?!!?!? I would like to say this is because I am a longtime patient however my friend who just started with them raved to me about the care she has received. I was a patient at Vita Dental until December 2015. I really liked it there at first - I felt like I was going to the spa! The technology seemed good, the office was comfortable, and the 'bedside manners' of the dentists and staff was great. This is how I felt for cleanings, check-ups, etc. However, I'm not happy with the actual work that was done. I had bonding on a front tooth that didn't last a year (previous bonding lasted 18 years). I felt like a filling they did came off or chipped, but since my insurance had changed in January (only a few months later) I couldn't be seen without spending $50 for an evaluation. I recently moved to Los Angeles and had my first dentist appointment here yesterday. The technology was superior to Vita Dental's - the X-rays were so incredibly clear, and well-defined, and I got to see tons of Hi-Res color pictures of my teeth. I mention this because Vita said they had to go in and fix the one filling I had from a previous dentist, and I don't recall seeing anything that made it obvious. With the x-rays I had yesterday, I saw how all of Vita's fillings have rough edges, un-natural shapes, and spaces where bacteria can collect and cause more problems. So now I have to go and fix all of the work Vita did about 24 months ago. I feel bad writing a negative review because everyone seemed so nice - especially the dentists. The fillings were not done by the dentists, so maybe that's the issue? They also did 5 fillings/repairs in 1 sitting - it was way too long for someone to have to endure for a non-emergency, and I think it's too long for anyone to sustain the attention that's needed to do a first-rate job. I have been a patient at Vita Dental since they opened. ALL BUT ONE OF THE FRONT OFFICE STAFF ARE EXTREMELY RUDE!!! I have been trying to make an appointment to re-cement a crown for weeks and they want to change the course of treatment to a new crown which will cost $1,200 more. This was changed after they had me have a root canal RE-DONE which used the rest of my annual dental benefits. Another note: If they show you a quote, look closely, any charges that insurance does not cover will be reverted to regular rates. The differences are substantial and should be reviewed and discussed prior to any treatment. read more

I love Vita dental, here are a few reasons why. The staff is extremely friendly and easy to talk to. I'm really comfortable. I also love that they aren't just trying to find things wrong to make more money off the patient. My husband use to have a lot of cavities, they recommended a specific toothpaste for him to use and he hasn't had a cavity since! Some places might not tell you there is something to prevent the issue so they can keep drilling. They are honest and sincere and the dentists are all amazing. The doctors and hands on team are always great. Cant complain about the quality of the work, resources and space. I love this office. Being with them for several years. For my surprise today when I was checking out after some xray and cleaning and a great experience the lady at front desk told me I had An open balance from a crown service from last year. About 38 dollars. She said they have sent by mail the bills and I told I haven't received it. After checking the address she found out the address was a 4 years old address. After updating my info I said no problem... please send me the document or print me a copy and I will do the payment after I check it with my insurance and my wife the reason why it was open since we have to pay things at the time of service. The lady in very impersonal way said she had to collect NOW with the risk of this being escalated, credit issues, interest and etc... i told her I would like to check the bill with insurance and wife prior paying but seems like all the years as "good" customer didn't mean anything... I paid because I don't want my name in any black list but I expressed my frustration and disappointment. It is not my fault my 4 years old address was not updated... they force us to always respond questions and sign terms but never asked me to confirm an address, they have my phone, email etc and just this week have called me several times to confirm my appointment... in a nutshell, for someone proud of always paying my bills on time and being diligent with checking my bills I felt uncomfortable and disagree the way it was handled... i paid and now after discussing with insurance if amount was incorrect than becomes my problem to request reimbursement or some sort of credit when all that could have been resolved with an email or phone call telling me ahead time the open payment and I would diligently address it... Have been going to Vita Dental for a few years now. They have always been professional courteous and on time with appointments, but I felt compelled to write because of my exceptional experience today. I had a time constraint due to a last minute very important work meeting (the kind you can't miss or be late). I let the staff know when I walked in and everyone went out of their way to get me out quickly while still being thorough in the cleaning and examination. Special thanks to Britney! She was amazing this morning. I could tell she took my time crunch seriously- she was super focused on being efficient in her work while not cutting any corners. Visit them only if you have deep pockets ... we were given an estimate before starting the treatment, but i am now being asked to pay 5X of that amount. At first , I loved Vital Dental. Everyone was very nice and I was sucked right in. I even referred family members because everyone was so nice there and Dr Jordan seemed very honest and friendly. Not long after, I suddenly needed a ton of dentist work done and it was VERY costly. I talked to my family members and all had similar stories of needing root canals etc when their teeth didn't bother them. I finally went and got 2nd and 3rd opinions at other Dental places and everyone said my teeth were fine. They are friendly and smile a lot, but NOT honest and all they care about is making money... For the unpleasant necessity of dental work, this place is awesome. All the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I went there to have a wisdom tooth removed and found the professionalism very comforting and relaxing. They gave me several options to have either just one removed or all with no pressure or lecture on my choice. I was so nervous about the needle for the Novocain, but they numbed the gums before using the needle and I felt nothing. I have been waiting over 6 months for refund due to me. I paid up front for my treatment. When I went to the office(previously Afinia dental) I was told me dentist was away on leave and another dentist would continue my care. I THINK NOT. Eventually I found Dr Kilgore alive and well practicing on Fields Ertel Rd. This was a real wake up call to check everything you are being billed for.I was charged for a pediatric exam($3029)and that is what is owed back to me.
