Instead, I was given guidance by staff while dealing with significant pain. I ultimately had to seek emergency care elsewhere, where the problem was properly resolved. In addition, I was told I needed 6-8 fillings and a crown. When I sought a second opinion, I was told that none of that work was necessary and that only one small area needed to be monitored. The difference between those two evaluations was alarming. Recommending large amounts of unnecessary dental work goes beyond poor judgment -- it's unethical. What makes this even more concerning is that the dentist at this office has been suspended by the Ohio State Dental Board and is currently practicing under probation for documented violations involving patient care. This is public information anyone can verify on the Ohio State Dental Board website. Please research carefully before choosing this office. Patients deserve to know this information when choosing a healthcare provider. I feel conned by this place even to this day, several years later so decided to write a review when I saw the name come up in a search I was doing. To this day, many years later, I still have no cavities. I feel this place is just about grabbing as much money for you as possible and seems to want to do unnecessary dental work. I called Dr. Scott Gelder and he got me in immediately. When I originally came here in 2020, we paid out of pocket for my root canal/fake tooth. He took care of me today at no cost to myself. I found it extremely kind and selfless of him. He could have easily charged me because I didn't follow the Instructions on aftercare of my tooth and yet he still took care of me. I was a little nervous finding a new dentist since moving to the area two years ago and I am so thankful I ended up here. From the first phone call with the receptionist, to seeing the hygienist and the doctor, to the final checkout the whole experience was AMAZING. I have dreaded/hated the dentist ever since I was a small girl. It got so bad that eventually I…read morewas avoiding dentists as much as possible, putting of cleanings till the last possible minute, and only filling cavities when they got bad. When I was younger my dentist was not very gentle and the pain from anesthetic shots and the grinding form numerous fillings were engraved in my brain instilling the afore mentioned fear. This fear continued as an adult until about two months ago when I went in to see Dr. McIntosh for a consult on straightening my smile. You see my pediatric dentist was an apparent idiot as he never recommended me for braces despite my overbite saying it was too small to make a difference. As the years went on this problem caused teeth to grow in differently and crowd etc etc and in the last year my smile started to appear crooked...... Dr. McIntosh is in the process of fixing my smile without making me undergo the two years of braces that the general orthodontist recommended. She too told me that in order to fix my bite perfectly that the braces were the best way to go but since my bite itself doesn't bother me I opted to get them cosmetically fixed and to use a retainer. So far I am so happy with the results!!!! More importantly I want to note that Dr. McIntosh and her staff have re instilled my faith in dentistry. After just two appointments with her I quickly decided to make her my general dentist for the following reasons! 1) Her staff is so friendly, patient, and don't speak to the patients in a demeaning or condescending fashion. Unlike so many other doctor and dentists offices I have experienced I never feel like I will walk out of Dr. McIntosh's only to have the staff whisper about how I was late or how I was loud etc etc etc...... 2) The environment is so friendly!!!!!!!!!!! a)Dr. McIntosh equips her rooms with a television for long procedures and has a list of movies from which patients can pick to watch or they are welcome to bring their own. There is also the option to listen to any radio station you may want to. b) The staff makes sure you are completely comfortable during your visit by offering you such things as: blankets to stay warm while being checked out; coffee and waters while you wait along with the traditional extensive array of magazines; the not so traditional alcove with a video game system for kids to play on while they wait; fresh gourmet cookies paired with cookie sleeves imprinted with her offices information in case you need to grab that cookie as you leave. 3) The technology at her office is up to date allowing the staff to take digital pictures and project them almost instantaneously onto the television screen above the dentist chair so you can see exactly what the doctor sees as she goes over your teeth. 4) Dr. McIntosh herself is personable, caring, and a perfectionist. You can tell that she cares about each of her patients and takes pride in her work. She rather take up more of her time at her expense then make a person leave her office with teeth she is not proud to call her own. She is warm and understanding and goes the extra mile to make sure her patients feel no pain or discomfort and are happy with their results!!!!!!!!! PS...........I love the dentist now:)
