Jill did the staging for our Berkeley house a couple of months ago just before it went on the market, and I gasped when I walked in and saw her fantastic work! Such a transformation! From the beautiful lighting to the vibrant paint colors to the gorgeous artwork, Jill did impeccable work throughout, down to the smallest detail--even the books on the shelves were perfect choices! She transformed our house into an incredibly warm and welcoming environment, and I have no doubt that her staging was key in helping us make a quick sale at a price that far exceeded our expectations. From consultation to installation to removal, she was extremely prompt and professional--making this part of the real estate process easy and fun! read more

Lauren at Visual Jill did a fantastic job for us with a difficult task: taking a small bedroom with awkward dimensions and turning it into a space that a six-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl would actually want to share. Three months later, our kids are still happily co-habitating, and their room is a wonderful place to be (for kids and grown-ups alike). Lauren managed to maximize every square inch of the room, and make it all look great in the process. She made us a great Pinterest board with furniture ideas, plus a really amazing Photoshop mock-up of the room that showed exactly what the furniture would look like in the room, with new paint colors and all. Once we settled on final choices, she did all the ordering and connected us with a room painter. After we'd assembled all the furniture (this is time-consuming, so it's worth bearing in mind that it falls outside the scope of Visual Jill's services), Lauren and Jill came over to re-shelve the kids' books, hang pictures, affix a very cool wall decal, and generally spiff the place up. Altogether a great experience working with Visual Jill, and we would definitely hire them for future projects. read more

Visual Jill - Our kids' fantastic new room, by Lauren - Interior Design Near Me - Berkeley, California

Jill and her team are simply THE BEST! We got Jill's name from a friend who raved about her. If you are reading this I probably don't need to tell you that when it comes to selling your home staging is the most important decision you can make. Jill staged not one but two homes for us --one modern and one craftsman. First we had Jill stage my families mid-century modern home and she did an incredible job. I am a big design fan and Jills use of modern furnishings plus vintage touches and original artwork are truly magic. We also used her photographer Peter Lyons who did an outstanding job. We could not have been happier with their work. Our listing ended up in the NYT real estate section of "What You Get" because it caught the editors eye. At around the same time, my mother in law was trying to sell her home and had it staged by another stager who my realtor claimed was "the best" but everyone we knew agreed her work was underwhelming to say the least and we got exactly zero offers. We decided to start over and we hired Jill. We also took the opportunity to ask Jill get some paint consultation to help brighten up the living room while also maintaining the homes craftsman character. She went out of her way to help us. The changes we made with Jills guidance were an absolute game changer. Jill's team then re-staged the house and the result was that we got 8 offers and sold the home for more than what we hoped to get. Everyone including other realtors were amazed at the transformation. Jill's results literally speak for themselves. The icing on the cake was that Jill and her whole team were such a delight to work with. Selling a home can be a very stressful process and Jill was more than a stager to us, she became a cheerleader and friend guiding us along the way and we are forever grateful to her and her fabulous crew. read more

This is a long overdue review for Jill and her team. When I decided to list my Oakland house for sale, I asked the realtors I was interviewing who I should use for staging. Jill's name kept coming up. After viewing their website, I was impressed with their use of color, art and materials. The team did an amazing job for my house. The look was bright, airy, stylish and quite appealing to a broad range of prospective buyers. My house sold with multiple offers for almost 20% over asking. I believe the staging greatly contributed to the sale price. When we moved into our new home in San Francisco, Jill and Lauren did an incredible job with both our interior and outdoor space. They even have a great app that creates a mockup of what the furniture will look like for you to compare prior to making any buy decisions. So I've had the pleasure to work with them on home staging for sale as well as interior design for our personal residence. I highly recommend Visual Jill with no reservations! read more

I first worked with Jill to help me transform a condo in preparation for a sale. In its original state, it was obvious that college students lived there. She helped pick out wall colors, light fixture, sofa cover, and bedding, as well as, thin out existing furniture and pictures. With her help, condo was transformed to a sophisticated understated modern home. It was literally like night and day! I've since used her for various homes ranging Downtown Oakland contemporary condos to beautiful traditional homes in Elmwood/Claremont. Lastly, she's helped put together finishing touches for my prior and current home. It's amazing what pillows, paint colors, rugs, and paintings can do to tie in a place. She, Lauran, and their team have an amazing sense of color, aesthetics and ability to make a house pop. read more

Jill and her assistant Lauren were a pleasure to work with. I like to consider myself a design-minded person, but when it comes to colors and styling... well I needed a little help. I stumbled across Jill's blog one day and reached out to her for some help. I recently purchased a loft near downtown San Jose. The space is really amazing (wood floors, views of downtown, exposed brick, etc.), but furnishing it was stressing me out. With an open floor plan it can be tricky to figure out what things to get and where everything should go. Jill and Lauren were up to the challenge. Communication between phone and email were great. Anytime I had a question or concern they were on it. I never once felt like there was any pushback. The final layout looks absolutely awesome! The furniture, colors, accessories... PERFECT! They really took the time to get to know me so that they could translate that to my space. I'm still in the process of getting a few items on their list, but it's already looking better than I could have imagined! Don't hesitate to contact these two lovely gals. Make your home a space you love and cherish. Sometimes we could all use a little design help... give them a buzz! THANK YOU! read more

The absolute best! I got so much help from Lauren and Jill. They are truly dedicated to their craft and saved me endless hours and $ with their design proposals. I had an entry way that needed optimizing and a small room of a bedroom that I just needed to figure out. The team works to incorporate your existing art work and style and they work with your budget. You won't go wrong with this team! read more

Lauren and Jill were great to work with. They came out to my small 1200 sq. ft. condo and really helped me transform it. Lauren was fantastic sourcing various items for me and gave me opportunities to view the furniture at local stores before ordering. The consulting did not stop with furniture. Lauren worked on accessories, rugs, pillow etc. The absolute best part was that Lauren and Jill came out to my condo and hung all my art work. We talked over which pieces would fit in various spaces and they did the measuring and hanging. They arranged things artfully on my bookshelves too. I highly recommend this team. read more

I was initially happy with my first discussions with Lauren, and her proposed design. However, in the end I don't think I got good value for the fee that was charged. Mistakes were made in terms of design planning (measuring needed space), mistakes that created problems that cost money down the line. There was little or no attempt to stay within my original budget, and if I had followed all of the suggestions and purchase options I would have spent at least $5000 over my proposed budget. The "savings" due to using the company's designer discounts were conflated with actual store sales, giving an inaccurate and inflated figure. Ultimately, though, there was a complete lack of communication in the last few months and I had to finish the job on my own. A disappointing experience. read more

Visual Jill and her team were a delight to work with. My husband and I had never worked with an Interior Decorator before and didn't know what to expect. Jill is really experienced after a long eclectic career in the business, but she's down to earth and easy to work with. After living in small apartments in SF for 13 years, I wanted to dress up the house we're renting without the "cramped college look". She brightened our place and walked us through colors, key furniture to replace and having our two main rooms flow and look "finished". I couldn't believe how much time and energy she put into us for the small price. Visual Jill is a real treasure. Give it a try and you'll be happy with the results. Friends and family think our place is so cute and totally our style. Little do they know our killer secret- Visual Jill's expertise. We're even thinking of putting my sweet tangerine-colored vintage vespa in the living room at Jill's suggestion. I won't be driving it for a while since I'm pregnant so why not show off my favorite look. So cool, yet modern look! Feel free to contact me for a honest reference: savolarachele@yahoo.com read more

There's nothing that sets a worse tone for a prospective client than not getting a return phone call or email. The communication resoundingly says, I don't want or need your business. After five days of no acknowledgement of either, so be it. read more

Lauren did an excellent job helping us update several rooms in our very dated townhome. She very thoughtfully created designs with a particular attention to the fact that we have two small children and the result was a beautiful but also smart and functional space with which we are so thrilled. Additionally, she and Jill were both professional and a real pleasure to work with. I would definitely recommend Visual Jill to anyone who wants their home to look amazing. We love our "new" home! read more

As a real estate agent that's been in the business for over 12 years I've worked with many, many stagers and NO ONE comes close to Visual Jill when it comes to instant buyer attraction. My listings staged by Visual Jill have consistently sold over asking (27% percent on average, often higher). The feedback I get from buyers and agents is that her staging is light, bright, joyful and contemporary. They mix classic vintage pieces and original art with clean contemporary pieces that work with every house- craftsman, tudor, victorian, mid century- it all works beautifully and feels like a HOME. Beyond that, they are a joy to work with. They are great with clients- they have an eye for keeping costs down and impact high. They consult with every facet of a project: lighting, paint, finishes, creating a consistent and compelling finished product that buyers love. I wish I could give them 10 stars- they are that good! read more

I recently bought a home in Berkeley and needed a designer with whom I could communicate my ideas and interests and who would translate that input into a fully furnished home. I was living on the East Coast during most of the planning and decision making but this never posed a problem for JIll and her team. I moved into my new home last April. Jill McCoy and her team of professionals surpassed my highest expectations. I have worked with designers in the past so this experience was not my first in home decorating. It is truly an art to do design work well but to work with someone 3000 miles away and to translate that into a space that feels like home is exceptional. read more

I am finally submitting this review that has pathetically taken me six months to write. It's the best way that I figure I can brag about the absolutely spectacular job that Jill and her team did in staging a small condo that my mother was in need of selling and that I was renovating. Jill was recommended to me by a personal friend and outstanding realtor that handled our eventual sell. Upon our first meeting and consequent business presentation, I not only met Jill, but also her amazing director of operations Honorah. Immediately, I was impressed with their enthusiasm, confidence and assurances. Assurances that they (Visual Jill), could handle a job that had the hurdles that a condo (for sale) in an old and dated complex presented. From the minute we met to the final sale of my mothers condo unit, Jill was involved and always available. I say the same of Honorah. This was honestly not something I was expecting being that staging a 680sq ft condo was not a big or lucrative undertaking for Visual Jill. I also had to blindly trust that Jill would stage the unit just right, as I had zero experience in that arena but had plenty of opinions. Not a great mix. Yet on her own time, Jill several times met with me at home decor shops and design centers. She patiently walked me through design ideas of all types and costs. From the complete kitchen remodel, to the type of wooden flooring, to picking light fixtures...you name it...if I had a question or needed help, Jill was available. In the end Jill and her team at Visual Jill did an amazing job. What we started with and what we finished with was truly spectacular. Jill's direction, vision and staging set us up for the best possible result. The condo had multiple offers and went well over asking. To date, no condo of equal size in the same unit has sold for as much or close. I could not have been more pleased with the service, cost or result and feel a deep sense gratitude to the attention and care she and her team afforded me. Truly grateful, J. Jill and her team worked wonders in my remodeled-but-never-decorated home. She was attentive to my needs and tastes, and created living spaces (living, dining, music room) that are complete, colorful, textured, and inviting. She finished my project within both a fraction of the time I expected and my modest budget. Her work has left me lingering in the doorways, admiring the views! She's a true professional and a joy to work with. read more

I hired Visual Jill to help with a small interior decorating job for my new condo. I worked primarily with Lauren, and she is fantastic. First, she is really easy to work with and very accommodating. She is warm, sweet and pleasant to be around. She was also willing to work within my budget and do as little or as much as I wanted, which I really appreciated. Second, she was very responsive to my likes and dislikes, even when they differed from hers. She listened to what I wanted, and then was very helpful in locating the items I wanted. It was just the right mix of her giving me ideas and steering me toward what would look good and letting me guide the process so that I would get a result I really liked and that felt like "me." One big plus is that the company passes on their full designer discount to the customer, so I felt like that practically paid for her services. The only downside with that is that most of the shopping was done at major retailers that offer the discounts as opposed to "off the beaten path," but with my budget and time limitations, that made the most sense - if you have more time to spend and don't care as much about the discount, they are definitely open to sourcing at different retailers, etc. Overall, this was a great experience, and - most importantly - I'm very happy with the results. My place looks great, and the process was relatively painless (which is saying a lot from someone like me). Thanks Lauren and Jill! read more

I was getting quite tired of my very neutral living space (living room, dining room, kitchen area) and hired Visual Jill to add some color. Jill and Lauran came to my house for a consultation where they asked great questions about what I liked (and didn't), what I was trying to accomplish, my budget, etc. They returned two weeks later and what they delivered far exceeded my expectations - a beautiful, fresh look including new pillows and accessories in a gorgeous palette of blues and greens, all at an affordable price. They really understood what I was aiming for. I highly recommend Visual Jill! read more
