    Living Room: Before

I am SO happy to have found Clara. My husband and I recently moved from a small apartment in Brooklyn to a cottage in the Bay Area. We barely had any furniture and the thought of decorating all of this new-found space rendered me catatonic. I came home from work everyday totally frustrated and a bit guilty because I couldn't figure out how to decorate this place on my own. Clara came all the way to the foothills of Mt. Diablo for our consultation, where we talked about my design aesthetic, very small budget, and two cats who like to tear up rugs. She made a lot of great recommendations, created mood boards, and was very responsive throughout the entire design process. In the beginning of the process I couldn't put a finger on what my design aesthetic was. I love vintage items but find too much "stuff" makes me feel uneasy. Clara helped create a warm and inviting space while managing to keep my minimalist preferences in mind. I tend to obsess about details and Clara dealt with this very kindly (which i really appreciate because I know it's frustrating!). I would hire Clara again in a heartbeat. I'm so happy with how our place turned out!

Clara of Banner Day Consulting got my family and me through an incredibly stressful move with such efficiency and grace. I was 9 months pregnant with our first baby, and on bed rest with a series of complications, when my husband learned that he would have to relocate from Southern California to Las Vegas for work. Barely able to get out of bed, I was in no state to coordinate a move, let alone furnish or organize a new home. Enter Clara and her amazing sense of order, style and economy. With nothing but a couple of inspiration photos for direction, Clara took up residence in our brand new, completely empty, 4,000 square foot house and proceeded to fill it top to bottom with EVERYTHING our family needed to make it a home. She artfully decorated every room (3 bedrooms, a nursery, an office, 4 bathrooms, a formal living room, family room, kitchen, dining room, patio), selecting furniture, rugs, art, lighting and other decorative touches that were chic, perfectly functional for our lifestyle and expertly sourced at very budget-friendly prices. Our home is in a new development; several visitors, including our broker, have commented that our décor outshines the model homes. Yes, I live in one of THOSE homes now - the ones that look like they would be in a magazine or on HGTV. As someone who has never had a strong talent for interior decorating, walking around our beautifully styled home still makes me giddy. Though I am over the moon about how elegant our home looks, what really set Banner Day apart from other services out there was not just the decorating, but the incredible attention to detail underlying that décor. I'm talking about the real life practical stuff involved in moving into a new home. While I was still in California, Clara greeted our moving truck and unpacked our boxes, organizing all our household and personal items in our new home - from clothes, to kitchen utensils, to books, to family photos, to baby supplies, to all the other miscellaneous items that clutter up a house. Clara sorted through all of it, purging the old, polishing up the dirty and then making thoughtful purchases to supplement where we were missing basic household items. Two months later, I finally arrived in Las Vegas with a newborn and walked into a completely move-in ready home. All of my belongings perfectly organized throughout the house, a pantry and fridge fully stocked with staples, bathrooms cabinets with extra toilet paper, soap refills and cleaning supplies, detergent in the laundry room and spare light bulbs in the utility closet. These sound like little things, but were so luxurious in a brand new home, especially with a new baby to attend to. It has now been nearly three months since Clara moved us into our home. Even now, I still stumble upon little reminders of the meticulous care she took in assembling our new lives - baby clothes hung on tiny hangers in size and color order, lipsticks sorted by brand and shade, dividers and baskets throughout our cabinets and drawers so that everything has its own perfect little place. In the aftermath of an unexpected move with a newborn, our lives have actually become more orderly (and so much more stylish!!) thanks to Clara's flawless execution.

It's hard to express just how happy we are with Banner Day's work in our home! Back-story: we live in a family-owned rental and have been on the fence for years about whether we should stay in our rental or try to buy our own place. When we ultimately decided to stay, we also decided that we wanted to invest in the space with new furniture and accessories, so that it feels like it's truly our home. We also needed to convert a windowless basement family room into our daughter's bedroom as we're expecting another baby next month. My husband and I were on the fence about whether we really "needed" someone to help us with sourcing new items and styling our home, as it felt lavish and a little bit out of our league. However, our good friends had recently hired Banner Day to decorate their new home. We loved what she had done for them, and so did they. My friend convinced me that her services were totally invaluable, and that the happiness she feels going home to her own beautiful sanctuary at the end of each day makes the cost of an interior designer well worth it. I now know exactly what she means and experience the same gratitude. I'm so glad we listened and hired Banner Day. Clara jumped into the project with full-force. even though she's in Oakland and we're in NYC. Through a few FaceTime conversations and photographs, we showed her our home and articulated what looks we like. She patiently sourced items, sometimes going back to the drawing board half a dozen times to find us exactly what we were looking for. She graciously dealt with my HGTV-loving husband who, at times, can be quite . . . opinionated about looks he likes and dislikes. She kept us easily under budget and was especially knowledgeable about where we could cut corners, financially, and where we should go higher-end. When she ultimately flew out to NYC to execute her installation and do the styling and accessorizing of our space, it was like everything magically came together and our house looked like it was in a perfect magazine. Two final points: I think we were both nervous to work with an outsider on our home who might judge our taste (or lack thereof) or our need to stay on budget. Clara is kind and funny and a pleasure to work with, and immediately assuaged those concerns. She was also very responsive to email, so it didn't feel like we were working 3,000 miles away. Lastly, I will note that her fees are incredibly reasonable. I have other friends who have worked with interior designers who charge three times the fees of Banner Day and provide way less in terms of services they deliver. If you're on the fence about hiring someone, we would say go with Banner Day and you won't regret it!

Clara transformed my new bedroom into a cool and open space thats so comfortable waking up to.

I had no idea the potential for my unique space until Banner Day transformed it. My home now is so stylish, cozy and comfortable that I never want to leave. Clara was direct, communicative, and fun to work with! She has a great design eye and worked with me on my budget and vision every step of the way. She was thoughtful in making sure that my personality and style wasn't compromised for design sake but feel she enhanced it. I highly recommend her services. She'll elevate your home game to bounds you never even knew possible!

This bookshelf created much more storage in my condo. Clara did a great job organizing and styling this for me!

We've now been in our finished kitchen and house for a few months and love it more every day. We still can't believe the transformation and beyond the beautiful upgrade across the board, his design and recommendations made it SO much more functional. From the design process to communication and his project manager/workers, everyone was a true professional. No kitchen horror stories and they finished exactly on time. There of course are small things that came up in communication between what we decided with Shawn (keeping our dishwasher) and what the workers on site knew about (tried to give it away 2x), but that is common in any project, and most important to us is every small thing we noticed/flagged was fixed without question. We've already referred Shawn to anyone who asks. He took our space from a very dated 1960s vibe to modern but with character, and a design that matches our ranch style home. Thank you Shawn for making our house feel like us!

After talking to a few different firms, Kanika Design just felt like the right fit. Kanika really listened to what we wanted. I've always been a bit nervous about using bold colors, but she pushed us (in a good way!) for a deeper color palette in the main living areas. It looks incredible. Kanika found us so many unique, high-quality furniture pieces that you just won't find at a big-box store. The biggest thing for us was logistics. Once the design process completed, their team handled everything - architectural, permit headache, and construction. Anyone who has done a remodel knows things never go 100% perfectly, but whenever an issue popped up, they were on top of it immediately. They kept the contractors moving and kept us updated on the budget and what was happening next. It's a relief to finally be done after 2 years and have a home that feels like us but way better. I can't recommend Kanika and her team enough. We're still obsessed with how everything turned out.

But from day one, Jill exceeded our expectations. The project involved tearing down an old, dilapidated screened-in porch that had never really worked for us -- too cold in the winter, too hot in the summer -- and transforming it into a usable interior room. We wanted to keep the light and airy feel of a porch while gaining insulation, comfort, and year-round usability. We also wanted ideas for built-ins: maybe a window seat, maybe bookshelves -- we weren't quite sure. Other contractors over the years had taken one look at the porch and declined to get involved due to its age and condition. Not Jill. She had ideas right away. Jill brings so much energy, creativity, and practical knowledge to the table. Even while juggling big personal commitments (like her son's graduation across the country), she delivered several strong design ideas within a few weeks -- and they were fresh, inspiring, and budget-conscious. She collaborated easily with our civil engineer, adjusting her drawings quickly to meet his needs. She also understands our local codes and regulations really well, and met directly with our contractors to make sure her designs were realistic and executable before we got too far into the process. On top of all that, Jill has a fantastic personality. She made the experience fun and engaging, and she brought a sense of momentum and confidence that really helped us move forward. I can't recommend Jill highly enough -- her creativity, responsiveness, and enthusiasm make her a true gem. If you're considering working with TANGERINEdesign LLC, you're in excellent hands.
