I've worked with Melissa 2 times in the last 3 years to decorate 2 apartments. The moment I stepped into what she can do, the moment I decided I wanted to work with her. Melissa's eye for nuance, color and good taste are evident when you look at her work. She pays attention, has experience and great communication skills. She is also personable and professional. I have been pleased with how much better everything looked after Melissa's touch. read more

Wow, just WOW! Melissa helped me chose the most amazing, sophisticated paint colors and rug for my condo. It's the first time I've been a homeowner, and she really helped me feel confident in bringing a more updated palate to my place. It's so so gorgeous, and I can't recommend her highly enough! read more

Melissa was recommended to me as I was nearing the end of my renovation and needed help with paint colors.  Paint is impossibly hard and if you think you can do it yourself, you can't. Melissa worked with me to do full interior and exterior paint colors. She chose a beautiful combination of colors that make my little house really amazing (warm and cool, neutral and bold). I absolutely LOVE each of the colors and admire the paint colors daily - though wish my kids would keep their hands off of the walls.  Bringing Melissa in towards the end of the project ended up being perfect.  Hiring her was one of my best decisions with the whole project. As we discussed paint, Melissa also gave me guidance on many of the last minute decisions that you have with a project - things I didn't even know I needed to decide (so many little decisions to make). I was thankful that she knew what she was doing and would just make some of these decisions. She really tied the everything together. And my house is so beautiful because of her.  Melissa really made my house really beautiful. Not only is she extremely talented, she is patient, responsive and really lovely to work with. She was a great partner and I miss not hanging out (and learning) from her.  Also, she is ridiculously cool. :) read more

Melissa did such a great job with our lighting request for the living room in our loft. We could have never found our way to these beautiful chandeliers without her guidance. They are perfect and go so well with the other fixtures in the warehouse. She knows what she's talking about! read more

Melissa Guerrero Design - Chandeliers in the living room of our warehouse loft - Interior Design Near Me

We worked with Melissa on a 50's house that needed a number of things done. Melissa gave us options for remodeling the kitchen, changing the flow, helping us pick the cabinets, floors, lighting, where to put windows, etc. She also helped us pick furniture, tiles, floors that fit within a room. No matter how big or how small our issue was, she was there with options, and she was very easy to communicate with. She also helped us with the overall process with contractors, sequencing the work, getting answers from them. Basically, she was at the center of our entire project, and we wouldn't have succeeded without her help. read more

When it came to repainting the exterior of our house, Melissa Guerrero helped us in picking out the perfect color-scheme. We presented a bit of a challenge, since we wanted to strike the right balance between a somewhat modern and colorful approach, while still being true to the style of our 1922 Dutch Colonial. We live in a house abundant with original Arts and Crafts style details, but also have a great love for Vintage Modern. Also, my husband and I both had different color-schemes in mind...so after presenting Melissa with the challenge of: "We like that our house looks like a Barn", "Even though it seems like a classic choice for a Dutch Colonial, the current, blah off-white base-paint has to go", "we'd like it to be modern, yet it needs to mesh with the architectural style and details", "he thinks "green", she thinks "blue", "I have this idea of a very dark blue trim color stuck in my head", Melissa quickly came back to us with a variety of great suggestions. The final paint scheme we picked is something we would have never thought of ourselves - it's a very rich, dark, earthy pumpkin color for the stucco walls, with a lighter hue to highlight the achitectural details, the windows and door are painted in a beautiful midnight blue, with a vanilla colored trim, and a darker grey for the wood shingles around the bottom. When we saw this color-combination, we both liked it immediately (we NEVER immediately agree on Design-related decisions), and it looks great on the house. We frequently have strangers stop by our house just to tell us how much they love the new colors - one of them has lived in the neighborhood for a long time, and stated the house had not looked this nice in 20 years. And we love it so much that coming home to it puts a big, happy smile on our faces every time we drive up the street. Our home is surrounded by lush greenery on all sides, and the new colors hightlight our front- and side-yard in the best possible way. Since we are located on a corner-lot, Melissa also took the colors of the surrounding houses into consideration, and now our little "barn" really stands out. We loved working with Melissa, and I can not recommend her highly enough: she is a great listener, and was able to translate our rather vague and fuzzy ideas into a great solution. She is fast, fun to work with, a pleasure to be around, and has a great imagination and vast Design background to draw from. read more

Melissa is a pleasure to work with. She has a keen eye for design and creates an positive environment for creative collaboration.I met her while working at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts where she was doing exhibition design. I hired her as a consultant when I remodeled my kitchen. Because she has spent many years designing interiors, her knowledge guided my wife and I through many decisions. She led us through processes I was unfamiliar with, and together we made choices such as color, eco-friendly kitchen materials, and lighting. We were thrilled with the advice she gave us and the way she made the process fun. She knows how to listen. read more

Melissa is a design rock star. If you need someone to help you with colors or interior, hire her. She helped me with interior design for my home renovation in Noe Valley - including interior and exterior colors, furniture and fixtures. She did an amazing job helping me create spaces that are modern and unique. Her eye for color is just awesome. She's super easy to work with, very professional and responsive, and efficient (a bonus when you're paying someone by the hour). Plus, she's a lot of fun. Highly recommended! read more

Melissa helped us choose the color scheme for our craftsman bungalow. She came up with scheme we would have never come up with on our own, cleverly linking two separate rooms with different but related colors. She is very easy to work with and is a good listener. We love the final result. Highly recommended. read more

As my wife and I approached the project of painting the interior and exterior of our home for the 1st time since buying the home 12 years ago, we were filled with... pure anxiety! It was a sizable investment of time and money, and we wanted to make sure we did it right. We're also modest folks - a couple with young kids - and we'd not only never secured the services of a Designer before, we barely knew where to begin. Melissa started off by collecting input: What was our style? Where do we shop for furniture? How do we entertain? Every answer seemed unimpressive, and something that reflected what our style was (heavily influenced by our kids) and not necessarily what we wanted it to be, again. Melissa heard our plight and advised not only on color schemes, but style, furniture, art and aura. She offered us help, advice, and blunt feedback. Melissa threw ideas against the wall, listened to our input and iterated. She was entirely willing to admit an idea or a color choice wasn't a winner, but she took us down a path - over the course of several months - that has led to our now living in a transformed home. She put forth ideas that didn't initially resonate with us, but that saw a vision before we did. Even up to the final stages of our interior painting project - I expressed doubt at certain parts of the direction. "Trust me" said Melissa, and I did. And, you know what - it all worked and looks beautiful. And, it was a fun journey along the way. Can't recommend Melissa more enthusiastically - for those who work with Designers all the time, or even rookies like us. Thank you, Melissa! read more

I had met with a couple of interior designers and was clear I did NOT have budget to do a full kitchen remodel but rather a "face lift." Two other designers told me it was not worth it and I should wait 'til i could tear down walls. Not Melissa. She was sensitive to my needs and budget and more creative than anyone I know. Melissa came up with ideas for my kitchen I would never have thought about and truly has transformed the space. I continued to work with Melissa on colors for many of the other rooms in my house. And she also found some amazing pieces to make over my living room. Melissa works with what you have and even rearranges your existing pieces in a way that makes so much sense. Truth be told, I now contact Melissa every time I want to purchase something for my home. She has such a good eye and helps ground me and guide me in my decorating. I wish she could move in! read more

Melissa helped me de-70s my beach house in Bolinas. I asked her to help bring it to a more modern style while at the same time preserving its funkiness, but to ensure it wasn't a significant redo given that we intend to renovate more significantly in the next 5 years. Melissa helped me select more modern colours to soften the interior and complement the view. She very quickly identified a modern palette of greens, greys, blue and brick red. Each colour turned out perfect, and I really like that she tries for interesting colour combinations. She also helped me select pillows and prints to bring the beach feel into the house. She found great pieces at the Alameda Flea Market including handmade pillows and French nautical illustrations. It's relaxed without seeming kitchy. I also engaged Melissa in recommending different light fixtures for the living room, kitchen and bedroom. I love every single one, and they all create the right atmosphere. She was able to find and recommend different pieces of furniture, including a Danish modern coffee table that she found on Craigslist. In addition to her great sense of colour and style, I appreciated her eclectic sources of design elements. My house does not look like it was pulled together from a catalogue, rather it looks curated with a variety of different design features. Melissa is responsive and always even natured and calm about every decision. She understood well my need to make the place interesting but not spend significantly. I am now hooked on her advice... read more

Melissa helped us remodel our kitchen and bathroom last summer. In addition to having an amazing creative eye, she is reliable, friendly, and fun to work with. Our goal was to update both rooms while salvaging as many existing elements as possible. And of course, stay within a reasonable budget. Melissa helped us do the latter by advising us on what was worth spending money on and what we could go lower-end on. She was able to integrate the old with the new and blend the high with the low. She suggested unique combinations of finishes and colors that we never could have come up with ourselves. The result is functional, beautiful, and we expect to love it just as much as we do today for years to come. read more

I run a custom furniture and cabinetry business, and I've been working with Melissa for years. She has an amazing eye and keeps herself super current on design trends. I love her personal style - but more importantly, Melissa knows how to tailor the design of a space to suit her client, the existing architecture, etc. - instead of just imposing herself on a space. Her color sense is second to none - a rare gift. I've never heard anything but rave reviews from our mutual clients, and Melissa is great to work with - very professional, great communicator, all the right industry connections, etc. Highly recommend! read more

After moving into our new place in the Mission, I wanted help to make our space look more like "us." She helped big time with: - Picking paint colors for all rooms - Custom window treatments with particular patterns - new furniture for our living and dining room - a custom built table and bench that fits perfectly in our space - new fun light fixtures - decision making when we were on the fence She made it really easy with her look books and in-person meetings and also helped find the right people to do installation. I highly recommend her if you're looking for similar work! read more

We loved working with Melissa - she helped us with color and furniture for our super small living room/kitchen and did an amazing job! We were very happy with both the process and the result: the space looked bigger, more edgy and super fun. I had never worked with a designer before and she made it so easy: super efficient, really intuitive- got to know what kind of style we liked very quickly and just great to work with. I would highly recommend Melissa. read more

Moving into a new home with no furniture is not ideal. And worse if you don't have design sense like me. So working with Melissa was awesome from the very first day. From rugs and lighting to paint and furniture, she has a great design sense and works within your budget and adapts to your tastes...though she will tell you straight up (politely and professionally) if your ideas may not work. And with her help, I've saved a lot a of time!! Well worth it. read more

Melissa is the best! Easy to work with, full of fun ideas, quickly gets a sense of her clients needs. We used her to help us pick out exterior paint colors for our house. Decisions are not easy for me and Melissa made the process a breeze. Loved all her ideas, but when I wasn't quite sure about the first set of colors, she quickly came up with more options. I highly recommend her, and wish I could get her council on everything. read more
