Lack of communication. Manager never returns calls, always busy line or the answering service picks up

Laura claims that my husband and I demanded that the caregivers do all the house chores. When we signed up with the company the woman who managed the case initially asked what type of services we needed. I said that my brother needs help with housekeeping and cooking. There are times when caregivers asked if I wanted to have them do all the dishes (my husband and I) to which I responded you don't have to don't worry about it, said you don't have to. Some graciously washed all the dishes. They did send a caregiver once. The first couple days she literally sat in the chair and did pretty much nothing. After the second day, I sat with her to talk about the expectations that were laid out in the caregiving plan with Visiting Angels. According to her and other caregivers after her, she was not given a caregiving plan that described the task of light housekeeping for my brother. She seemed upset by this and never came back. The case manager that set us up initially said to us that Visiting Angels was there to help everyone in the family and all their needs. No, I do not ask someone who's there for my brother to help me or my husband with housekeeping, but this is something that the case manager at the time told us would be available.. There are jobs that are just really hard and really low pay paid one of them being caregiving. I would hope that these caregivers would get at least what workers at McDonald's are getting in California $22 an hour however deserve to get at least $30 an hour. i'm pretty disappointed that the resolution made by the owner of the company was to respond to my yelp review with defensive response, in lieu of learning more about how to make this service better. read more

I have been working with them for a year I love my job I love my client Alicia is great very helpful and understanding when ever I have a question or anything she is ready to help me and I even won dodger tickets with them and was great I have never gone it was on my bucket list very great place to work and Alicia even let me know that always opportunities to grow with the company so I'm really looking forward to that. I spoke with Visiting Angels owner Laura when discussing possible care for a family member. Laura met with me and went through a variety of options for me to consider, a handful of which were not even to use the Visiting Angels service. She was patient and thoughtful explaining pros and cons of each path, clearly prioritizing care for my family member versus "closing the sale." I have happily referred two friends to Visiting Angels as well. It's nice to discover businesses that continue to operate during dangerous Covid times and provide services that are essential and in some instances life-saving. Huge fan of the VA team. read more

Great team, excellent administration, and good staff. We were referred to Visiting Angels by a neighbor, whose mom utilized the service for companionship, running, errands, etc, into her convalescence. When my mom's health waned, we contacted Alicia, who was professional, informative, and concerned. Our meeting went perfectly as she sat and was genuinely learning about my mother, listening to her concerns & worries, and gauging her overall health and condition. She sent a few caregivers over to meet, and was able to figure out a good 'match' between caregiver and the hours we needed for my mom. There are times that the schedules change on both ends, and Visiting Angels works overtime to ensure that there is full coverage - and with competent attendants. There are some that are great and some that are good, but I felt confident with the various people that have been there to support my mother. Furthermore, Laura (owner) is always available and helpful in those rare instances where Alicia is not around. They have done a very good job and I would highly recommend them to anybody. read more

If find yourself needing Home Care for a loved one, look no further than this group of incredible caregivers. I recently needed round the clock home care for my very ill mother. I contacted the number I was given by an in-home nurse (818 206-8121) and spoke to Alicia. From the very first conversation I knew I had picked the right group of caregivers. Alicia was so wonderful and helpful. She had a person over within a few hours. The individual she sent (Flor) was truly and Angel in every way, as were the other two caregivers who watched over my mom. These women were so caring and compassionate. The interaction that Flor had with my mom and my family was amazing. I can't thank her and the other two enough for the love they showed to my mom. Not only were they caring, they were all extremely knowledgable in their field of caregiving. You will not find a better group of in-home caregivers than the Visiting Angels. (Reseda and surrounding area) Especially those who were sent to help us in a very tough situation. I am certain that all of the caregivers who work for the company are the same as the 3 ladies my mom was blessed to have by her side during death. Thank you so much Alicia and the other Angels. This service is great for when you need an emergency caretaker for short as well as long term care. I needed someone for when my mom hurt herself to stay overnight and Alicia, the case manager, was very polite, attentive and accommodating. Kathy & Flor, the caretakers I got, were amazing and nurturing. I felt safe leaving them with my mom over night when I couldn't be there. Definitely gave me peace of mind, at very affordable rates. I was calling around different home care agencies for a neighbor. I called on a Saturday afternoon thinking no one will answer. Mia took my call and informed me of their services and what sets them apart from other agencies. When I told her I don't think my neighbor can afford the services, she gave me several resources to call. She even followed up 2 days later to make sure my neighbor had help. I would definitely call Mia and Visiting Angels if my parents needed help. read more

This review is for Visiting Angels (VA) in Reseda, CA. Unfortunately, we had a very poor experience with VA in Reseda. Our mother has early Alzheimer's and we were looking for help 1x/week. Sandra from VA met with us; she was nice. We explained our mother's situation and Sandra understood everything. Sandra drafted a contract which included our 1x/week schedule (VA understood we needed just 1x/week service) and both parties signed the contract. We were told their franchise was being purchased by a new owner. Soon after that, Sandra left VA. My mother did several month's service with VA's caregiver; service was adequate. Then one time, the caregiver did not show up and we were told later in the day by VA that the caregiver would not come. My mother had appointments prearranged that day so this was not good and she was upset. It's important for Seniors in her condition to keep to a routine. Any rate, mistakes happen. During Thanksgiving, I was going to be with my mother so we directly informed the caregiver her services were not needed that day; the caregiver acknowledged the cancellation. We informed the caregiver more than a week in advance. VA ended up charging us $160 because we did not inform the office of the cancellation. I showed proof of our cancellation communications with their caregiver but VA said NO you have to call the office to cancel. Well, OK, we made a mistake but VA never informed us when they cancelled service. So, it's OK for VA to cancel anytime they want without penalty but when you cancel by informing the caregiver instead of the office you get penalized $160. I understand the cancellation process but given they cancelled on us you would think OK but don't penalize us (you did it yourself too!). Just the other day, we get a call from the new person overseeing our account and she says they have to cancel our contract because we don't have enough hours. Well, Sandra and VA office knew how many hours we needed from the beginning, they signed the contract. For those who are looking for a caregiver for the senior loved one, these types of service issues only adds to the delicate situation and makes it a lot more stressful. Now, we need to find another caregiver and reacclimate our mother to a new situation. I do not recommend Visiting Angels in Reseda. We found them to have very poor customer service. read more

Do NOT use this home care service. They sent an untrained employee who had obviously never worked with a client who has Dementia. When I asked them to replace her they sent someone with more experience but she quit after 3 days. They called me to inform me that they were having difficulties filling my shift. I was without coverage and when they couldn't find anyone else to work the shift we agreed upon they accuse me of canceling service without notice and kept my deposit of $560.00. Now I have to have the bank dispute it and/or take them to court. What an awful inconvenience on top of already having to care for a elderly love one. I wish there was a rating below 1 Star because that's exactly what they deserve. read more

Visiting Angels was a life saver for me. And Alicia is amazing to work with. I had interviewed another agency before hiring Visiting Angels. The other agency was very difficult to work with, and honestly drove me crazy at a time when I especially needed someone who was quick and easy to work with. For all of my needs that presented hurdles and stumbling blocks to the other agency, for Alicia it was "No problem." I joined Visiting Angels earlier this year because I heard that it was a great registry to work for. When I arrived there, I was greeted by Mia, who is extremely nice!!! She showed genuine interest in me and showed compassion towards me and truly wanted me to work for the company. I knew then, that this was the registry for me.
