My husband and I fell in love with her "anything is possible, as long as you are willing to work for it" attitude. I began treatment with almost no movement in any part of my body due to the severity of my spinal cord injury. Ashley (PT) came in the room and lit it up. Not only was every single session fun, she made me want to work to impress her, simply because she believed in me, I wanted to show her that belief wasn't for nothing. Jessica (OT) came in willing to help with anything to make my transition easier, whether that be holding my daughter so I could sit up, or telling me it was okay if I hadn't reached a goal. I was switched to Deanna (OT) and Ruthann (PT) after about a month. These lovely ladies wiggled their way not only into my heart, but our family. Deanna immediately came in, with a smile not only on her face, but in her heart. Even if I couldn't do something, she would remind me of all the things that I had already accomplished, and helped me remember that everyone put the odds against me, and I was lucky to even be alive. Every single Tuesday and Thursday, there was excitement all over the house. My mom was excited to see her daughter proud of herself for being able to complete a new goal. My husband was excited to see his wife becoming herself again. My dad was excited to see his little girl move a new extremity. My daughter was excited to see the people that always acknowledged her and made her feel included. Most of all, me, excited to have these lovely women teach me how to find strength in such a horrible situation. Ruthann's place was taken back over by Ashley, but I will always cherish the time, and patience she had. Her honesty, and respect for me will not soon be forgotten. I'm so thankful she felt I was worthy enough to spend her time on. That's the thing about Cornerstone VNA PT and OT, they make you forget that they are there to do a job. They make you feel like not a thing is more important than every single session. They become family, and help you feel normal in such an abnormal state. I will hold these women in my heart forever, not just because of the incredible progress they helped me achieve, but because in my time of wanting to give up, they were there at any hour to tell me how impressed they were that a quadriplegic could become someone with paraparesis. I started not being able to move my fingers, arms, legs, and toes. I fully believe that without these incredible ladies, I may have never recovered. What she were told when she went in to The Wood at Canco and what she received over the time she was there was a great big LIE. Lie number 1. She was told she would have a ride to doctor appointments in the company van. Shortly after she got there they lost they driver and never got another one. And from what we seen and heard there never tried to get another driver. Lie number 2. She needed her ears taken care of she couldn't hear, this never got done they told her they had an onsite nurse. Not much help if any from any nurse the whole time she was there. Lie number 3. After time goes by she would be checked on to see if she would have to move to another part of the building for when she would need full care. That meant her would go into hospice care when the time came and she would be allowed to pass there, that never happened. Lie number 4. When she was getting so she could not manage alone anymore they said she need to go some were else for hospice care. She was told she could live out the rest of her life there. That was one of the biggest lies, a very CRUEL thing to do to a person close to the end of there life. The big thing for going there was to live out her life there and not have to have to much change that late in life. Pretty crappy for $7000.00 a month. After some time there the cleaning was lacking, the food started to slip and a big lack of help. When they moved her out they told her they would send the things not needed anymore to Goodwill then they informed her she needed to pay more than $400.00 to have her things removed that was LIE number 5. and Now she is in the City Hospital costing her even more. No person at 100 years old should have to go threw things like these. These places suck your money dry then throw you out like a bag of trash. Lies on top of Lies I hope people read this and will pass the word and never to put your loved ones in this retirement home.

We hired home care workers to provide meal preparation and driving services and generally assure that my relative was safe. His condition was deteriorating but he wanted to maintain as much independence as possible and be in places he loved. But we received far more than that. Workers responded to his desire to 'explore' the area and look for new places to sit each day. She helped him move residences. We received comprehensive reports of the visits on the family home site; listening to a description of his day and changes in his condition was helpful in deciding how to proceed with care. We received phone calls when there was a concern that the workers thought needed to be addressed quickly. Phone calls often lasted for 30 minutes. Heather was willing to deal with several different members of our family. She responded quickly to emails from the family.With great skill, she communicated when she thought additional assistance was needed, when John's condition was changing, when she thought he needed a different level of care. Heather cared about and respected John And I am confident he knew that and benefitted from the sense of being treated like a person, not a patient. She was our eyes -- and we got 20/20 help. I cannot find words to thank her or to recommend her. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Heather and team.
