Took my daughter to get contacts and they wanted her to charge her $250 for an exam. It was only 97 at another place. They also did something to block our insurance so we couldn't use it at the other place and we had to call our insurance company to unblock it. I have no idea why they would do that but the person at the insurance company said not to go to Visionworks anymore because they do this stuff all the time. went in for my annual eye appointment. the doctor was terrible and not nice. I was called back for my appointment 45 minutes after waiting to see the doctor. she then tells me, I need to do the initial eye check with the assistant again because my contacts were not taken out. no one told me ahead of time to take these out. the Dr. was rude on 3/4/25 when I was there. in the 2 minutes it took for the assistant to re-doy eye check, the Dr. skipped me and went to the next appointment. so my total wait for the Dr was 1 hour and 15 minutes. again, not once did someone apologize for this error or for the delay in appointment. so disappointing. i will NOT be back. read more

I simply needed a detailed receipt for HSA reimbursement. No online tools although I have a VW account. The VW clerk was fast to blame me for losing the paperwork (the undisturbed VW envelope provided 5/29 had exam summaries with no price) but slow to offer an easy solution. She was even faster to tell me not to come back - so I won't. VW can fax or I need to drive and pick up the receipt. They don't use email in 2024! Nor do they care about inconvenicing paid in full customers so I'll take my family's business and insurance benefits anyplace but here going forward. read more

We were at this store several times, there were none of the same employees any time. This store is absolutely disgustingly filthy. Every pair of glasses I picked up to try, I couldn't even see out if the lenses to see if I liked them ! Horrible !! Their employees were lazy, not helpful in the least and one of the employees was choosing frames for herself instead of assisting customers I ordered glasses, when they came in, they were the wrong prescription and frames and there was no way I could see out of them!! Went in to pick up glasses around 1 pm on Monday 5/8. No customers in the store and 3 persons working the front desk. I asked to pick up glasses and were handed them along with a mirror. I purchased no line bifocals in February 2023... they upsold me and I decided to give it a try. I couldn't accept the change from line bifocals and I returned them a few days after I picked them up. They refunded my money, but never notified my insurance company that I returned the glasses. As a result, I couldn't buy glasses elsewhere because my insurance company said I already used my benefits. 7 months later I went in and demanded they notify my insurance company the glasses were returned in March 2023. Visionworks notified my insurance company and printed a copy stating my insurance company should reinstat benefits in 30 days. Unacceptable business practices... they accidentally forget to notify my insurance company of the return and kept payment. read more

Visionworks is busy, and they could benefit from having additional staff on hand. Even though they were swamped with customers, the girl who helped me gave me an accurate wait time. I only visited this location to order contacts (I had a valid prescription from a provider not in my network). About 30 minutes later, I was given a form to fill out. About 5 minutes after that, she took the form back and said she had to call the insurance company for my "eligibility." I'm not sure if this is standard practice, considering I had my insurance card. 10 minutes after THAT, I was told that nobody was answering the 1-800 number from my card. I was informed that they needed to know my "group plan" before proceeding. She took down my info and ensured me that I would receive my contacts by the time I needed them. She handed me a business card and said she'd place my order at 3:00 p.m. when she came in the next day. I found that odd, couldn't someone else just place the order in the morning? I opened my mouth to ask another question, but she had already walked away. I did receive a call the next day, as promised, but I had already decided to take my business elsewhere. I had my glasses from here. The eye doctor and the staff were very good. A few months later, my frame was damaged, their front desk immediately replaced the frame for free with an equivalent new frame and put the lenses in this new frame on the spot. Zero waiting. She said "No." Usually techs will give some instructions like look at the the small house or say something to let me know what I should expect. Treat every new customer like they've never had an eye exam before. That would be the proper way to handle things and deliver superior service. She said NOTHING! That's why I asked. Do you know she puffed me in my eye after she told me No. BLATANT DISRESPECT! All you have to say is yes it is so i can be prepared. As I'm typing this I'm still shocked this even happened. Her body language read...it's late... I'm ready to go home so I don't want to deal with a person who can't handle the glaucoma air pressure test. Man The Lordt was by her side tonight because I kept my cool and decided to report her attitude to corporate. The doctor was great. I had my exam with Dr. Rowan. This facility still gets a 1 star from me though because of the rest of the staff. Even the employee that assists customers with glasses displayed poor service skills. She was a young lady. I also cannot remember her name. A customer left without purchasing anything. Instead of assisting me right away the young lady explains what happened with the sell to her co-workers. My daughter and I went to vision works in Joliet mall a few weeks ago. After my daughter's eye exam, I've had some questions to ask before I make a payment. I probably couldn't have understood with some of her answers and I guess this made her upset or frustrated because she rolled her eyes and very rude. I got glasses and an exam there last year. The only good thing about this place is that they take Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. Other than that, it's horrible. The first time I was there, I couldn't get a salesperson to help me to save my life. Then I get my glasses and they just hand them to me. no case, nothing. Then I come back because I can't see well through them. I see the optometrist again, and the apparently gave me the wrong prescription. This time, they treat me a little better, actually offering to make adjustments on the frame. But, uh-oh!! She just accidentally BROKE the frames trying to bend them!!! Anyway, I eventually got glasses I could see through. Unfortunately, I found out that the thinnest lenses they sell our still really thick. You lost my business today. Just moved in the area. Had an appointment at 120pm. Arrived late because my first time there and unfamiliar with location. When I arrived I checked in. The girl said I was late and had to reschedule after 10 minute grace period. I said it's only 13 minutes can you make an exception? She corrected me and told me it was 14 minutes and told me no. I understand being courteous to others and arriving on time to keep the flow moving but completely rude. I've given Visionworks my business for my kids and me for the past 10 years in different locations. It took just that one person not knowing how to handle any type of costumer service for me to walk away. I left and went to LensCrafters and they fit me in between other appointments within 15 minutes. I bought progressives, readers and sunglasses. Vision works is great. I've always had great glasses and the quality is better than other stores in our area.

I took my 8 yr old to Visionworks at Joliet Mall. I called ahead for an appointment. When we got there there was no wait time and the staff was courteous and pleasant. (For that alone I'd give them 5 stars.) They could not take my insurance as neither I or them could contact them (not Visionwork's fault). They did give me a coupon however, so the exam was very affordable. The glasses they offer right there at the store are very expensive though. Service offered (to receive a new pair of glasses) is faster than other places I've been to, but I don't feel it's worth all the extra money. I felt they wanted to "push me" a bit to buy from them. However, I didn't have to. They printed out the prescription, so I could order the glasses from any place my choice. Overall I had a positive experience! Even my 8 yr old said he can't wait to go back for his check up a year from now :). read more

2 NEW PATIENTS WILL NOT RETURN TO THIS COMPANY DUE TO THIS EXPERIENCE. Female employee with black hair and glasses and her supervisor (no introductions so I have no names to provide) were working Monday 11/21 at approx 5pm.... I am astonished how rude I was treated by not one, but BOTH of them. I had an appointment and traffic from work was running me late. I called to let the staff know (as my husband had already arrived for his appointment) and to ask if it was ok to still be seen. I was told by (according to supervisor) that a "new" employee had taken my call. (blame it on a new employee when said employee was nowhere around). The traffic had me running 1/2 hour late and I told her that my GPS said I would arrive at 5:00pm. The "new" employee said that it was ok. I arrived at 5:04, not kidding (walked through the mall) and I was talked down to and was told since I was 4 minutes past 5:00pm that I couldnt be seen due to the 4 minutes and I then had to wait for 3 other appointments first and I got bumped. I was told over the phone that it was ok that I was still to be seen when I arrived at 5:00, hence the reason I called. Both employee and supervisor nit picked and talked with such rudeness to me, I felt like they had absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ABSOLUTELY NO COMPASSION, BEING A MEDICAL FACILITY. YOUR EMPLOYEES SHOULD TAKE A CLASS ON CUSTOMER SERVICE. When I explained to the supervisor that employee was very rude to me, the employee just denied her behavior and placed fault completely onto me. I was very angered by the lack of communication and understanding. No apologies were offered. Not 1. With their behaviors, it did make me upset and therefore my behavior started to change as well. I said my apologies for my behavior. My husband and I will not be back. As we were walking out of the store, almost back into the mall, NOT AT THE DESK WHERE WE WERE STANDING, employee with black hair and glasses snarkly said "have a nice day" and I turned around because we heard her I did give her my middle finger. She shouldn't have done that because that was completely out of spite and very distasteful, and therefore the only response I gave was distasteful as well. Employees and supervisors should never treat a patient like that no matter what. Afterwards, I had sat down in the mall to calm down before I drove home and the supervisor was walking around the mall shopping. Not 1 word was spoken to me as she passed by me twice. I am appalled by this. I will never recommend this place to anyone I know and I will provide a horrible review on any social platform I can get to. Over 2 weeks ago I made an appointment for 11:25am. Then got a text that they rescheduled me for 11:00 and they would see me then. I go in at 11 and the lady tells me they canceled my appointment and I was told to come back later in the day at 3. Annoying but whatever I came back at 3 walked around looking at glasses for 15 minutes until someone helped me. I then sat in the waiting area for 20 minutes until I was helped by the people in the back. They managed to get me mixed up with someone else in the store and had to redo paperwork. Another 15 and after my actual exam they sent me to look at more glasses after already making me take my contacts out. I'm walking around blind looking at glasses for another 5. They take my glasses and a girl finally takes me to a table to get my billing figured out. I sat there for 25 almost 30 minutes while she tried to figure out the ipad she was using. Fast forward 2 weeks to today. I was supposed to already get a call about my order being ready and I haven't so I called them. The robot made me hang up and try to get my last name and order number right 4 times. Then I get transferred to a lady she asks me my last name and put me on hold. I think finally I'll get to know if they're all least ready to be picked up.no. She put me on hold and 5 minutes later hangs up the phone, I call back and it tells me it's after hours and then hangs up. When I get my glasses and contacts I will NEVER go back here again. I've never been to a more unpleasant and unprofessional store in my life. Absolutely terrible customer service. read more

I called Visionworks and not only was the staff friendly but they also informed me of the special they have running currently for a $19 eye exam, and scheduled my appointment. Came in this past Thursday for my appointment and got quick and courteous service. Nicole was very friendly and knowledgeable, and helped me pick my frames out (and was also very thorough with explaining pricing). Love my new frames--and being able to see is also a plus! read more

Just left this location to buy a some new frames and lenses...the young lady asked if I was buying and I said yes. However someone was there ahead of me and I let that person go. After the young lady finish, I sat back down to be assisted and no luck. She goes behind the desk and starts to play with her hair. I set there for a good fifteen minutes before getting up to leave. I'm sitting in vision works as I type this. From the moment out exams were finished by the nice doctor things are going to shit. Let's start with our Saturday appt. my daughter & I picked out our frames & then were ignored for ten minutes. Finally some lady came over. She stopped assisting us several times to walk away & help other people. Soooo after all if this she tells us we have to wait two days to get our glasses! What?! She said the lab was closing & not reopening until Monday~ this was at 1:30 on a Saturday!!!! So that brings us to right now~ we walked in & were told to have a seat~ an employee was at the table behind us playing on the computer. Couldn't stop for two min to help us!!! Ughhhh ohhh wait someone just came to assist us!!! But again she's also disappeared! This is getting annoying!!! They aren't even busy!! Yup next time Lens Crafters gets our business!! I came to this location about 5 years ago and was completely dissatisfied with the customer service. I returned here in Oct 2015 because I didn't have vision insurance. The manager who placed my contact order was VERY pushy and rude. She insisted on ordering contacts although I was told to wait to test out other trials. Thankfully the contacts worked out. When it was time to order more contacts, I called them in. When I went to pick them up, they were the wrong ones. I didn't realize they were different until I got home. Took them back after trying one pair and got the biggest head ache. The customer service at this location is horrible. Always was and always will be! Went in to buy 2 pair. Found a frame on clearance, clearly marked with a clearance tag. They took the frame to the back to make sure my prescription will work in it. (First time I've ever had someone do this. Been wearing glasses since I was 13, which is decades ago.) Anyway, when they came back, they said "no problem." However, when they rang me up, I noticed that they were ringing me up for $159.95 for the frames, and not the $69.95 clearance price. When I pointed it out, they played stupid. Upon my pushing the issue, they then said the guy in the back must have cut off the clearance price to check out the frames. When I pointed out that the clearance tag appeared to be peeled off the full-price tag, not cut off, they then told me that they need to tell the guy in the back not to do that. I went in for an eye exam which went fine, I am dissatisfied because after ordering my glasses, I was told they would be in, in about 10 days after they were ordered.. ok, fine.. 10 days went by, no call that my glasses were in. I called them to check on the status and was told it would be another 3 weeks! that is absolutely ridiculous! a month for glasses to come in?!?!?! I also had an exam for contacts which again was fine.. HOWEVER, they pushed me to order contacts through them, which I politely declined.
