However, everything billing-related has made this experience the absolute worst experience. This may come off harsh, but the fact is Milan Eye Center is incompetent when it comes to billing, and they refuse to take any responsibility. They hire a 3rd party billing company overseas, so every time you call their office to discuss anything "billing-related," you are automatically transferred to their overseas contracted billing partner. We have spoken to the billing company over and over again, month after month, and we get the same run-around. Nothing ever gets resolved. They'll get back to us, they will call us back, but they never do. So we call them, then back and forth, we start all over again. It is exhausting. Milan Eye Center then sends another bill. We have been dealing with this for almost a year... Why in the world would you hire such an incompetent company to handle all your billing? This is a multimillion-dollar eyecare practice. We knew this surgery would happen, and switched insurance plans as the new plan had a specific flat in-network $1,000 copay for each eye for Cataract Surgery. The total surgery should have cost $2,000, plus the additional co-payments for other doctor visits/eval pre- and post-surgery. Guess what? Milan Eye Center never billed UHC. At the last moment, we were forced into taking out a $5,000 loan from CareCredit to pay for the Cataract Surgery. To make matters worse, after the surgery, Milan Eye Center billing third party started sending bills for $3,900 for the same surgery. First of all. Milan Eye Center will NOT perform any surgery until the costs are all paid off in full, meaning you cannot enter the surgery room, hence why we had to take out the $5,000 loan. So a surgery that should have cost $2,000 with insurance ended up costing $5,000 + now they want another $3,900. Cataract Surgery is not $8,900, including insurance; the total to them should be $10,900? After the surgery, we spoke with the insurance. Milan Eye Center never filed it through them, even though they are in-network. After a year, we finally paid off the $5,000 loan we should have never had to taken out... and now they still want $3,900...     The pre-screening was a nightmare. There were two technicians and I assume one was in training…read more(though this was not stated). Clearly the one in training didn't know what she was doing, but the other one was giving NO direction. Then she gaslit me when I said the machine should not be touching my eyelid (never did before), and she said that was correct. They have a new eye scanning machine and they did not say it was new and different ahead of time. First they didn't bother adjusting it to my height so I was scrunched down. I was the one to tell them (twice) to lift it up so that it aligned properly. Then I was told to smoosh my right cheek up against the machine (so my was head is turned left), but still somehow look ahead. When they finally did the scan, it did some extra stuff (red lines, flashing) that she didn't bother to tell me about ahead of time. Then because they had no clue how to align someone properly with the new machine, my scan wasn't correct and they wanted to redo it (and this was just one eye so far)! I was done at that point and walked out. I have never walked out of an eye appt. Usually easy and pretty quick. My husband and son were also given the wrong prescriptions!
