My Eye Care

He's very nice and never seems rushed. I also really like everyone who works up front, especially Heather. She is always on top of everything and can handle any situation. I needed to get in before the end of the year to get my exam and prescription and she got me in. Found my current eye insurance and had it in the system when I logged in to fill in the paperwork. You can make an appointment online which is extremely convenient since I often have to handle those sort of things outside of regular business hours. You can fill in info online as well so it can be done before you arrive. There's an eyeglass store right next door. I just walk out, go next door, and get my glasses. My Eye Care seems to work very closely with them but you can take your prescription wherever you want of course. The waiting room is a decent size and I think the longest I waited was 20 or so minutes one time. Usually, I get back rather quickly. If they need to do anything for your visit before you see the Dr, they do it and then put you in the exam room. There's no separate waiting area so once you go back, the dr is in soon for your exam. If you are searching for an eye doctor, I'd recommend giving them a try!

Dr. Bui gives detailed information about your eyes and goes through photos taken at the exam with careful precision and shares all information and pictures with the customers. The team is professional, the office is clean, and the eye exams are top notch. Bonus: No high pressure sales with an eyeglass store inside the business! I love this place and will be back yearly.

I originally had gone to my previous optometrists office however based on the price they quoted per pair $600 for lenses only it was clear based on the sales associates indifference they weren't really interested in my business. I removed their Yelp review because I could no longer stand behind the level of customer service. Enter Fairway Eye center. Some years ago I had done business with Fairway and remembered the excellent customer service. In fact the only reason I really switched was they didn't have the frames I wanted. I digress. So after getting a completely outrageous quote I called Fairway and asked for Tina. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out she was still there. I explained my dilemma and all I can say is that Fairway came to the rescue once again. The prices were completely reasonable and Fairway stands 100% behind their product and customer service. I won't be going to anyplace else again. The customer service can't be beat!

I was not advised when or how my contacts would be available to top it all off I had to ask for a paid receipt and was met with "oh you want a receipt?" Seriously, if it's not written down it didn't happen. I called to check the status of my contact and was told "You're in a wait status" and that they should have already been received. I asked if I had to go to the office or will the contacts be delivered to my home, the gentleman said "oh you should have been given the choice at the time of the order if you wanted them mailed to your...and of course I was not given that or any other option. In short, not a happy camper!!!!! I would have given a 2.5, but the Dr. and techs were nice and proficient for the most part, one of the techs seemed new and struggled through the screening.

Many of the frames are hip and trendy, but you can also find a more conservative look there if you want. The young man at the Prairie Village location was knowledgeable and very nice, and I had a generally good experience there. My big beef about these shops is their design. The closest you can get to a big mirror is about six to eight feet because they are all behind the counters. I want to see myself in a big, well-lit mirror from a variety of distances and angles. They also have small mirrors on the counter tops, but that is really not that helpful because we don't view the world through a 9 x 12 inch oval. I am both near and far sighted, so I had a hard time getting a good view of myself in the big mirrors that were so far away. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks about eyeglass shopping this way, but it's something I've noticed recently. I've been obsessively shopping for new frames because I really want to change my look. I've been to dozens of shops in the KC metro and even Lawrence. I'm amazed at how many shops have small, poorly lit and/or inaccessible mirrors. If I'm going to spend $500 to $1200 on new lenses and frames that I will wear on my face every day, I sure as heck want to be able to see myself clearly before making a decision.

From the front desk lady Samantha to The Office Manager Robin to Dr. Kyle Marr they are the best. I actually look forward to my eye appointments. I have wanted to switch to contacts for awhile but because I have a Astigmatism they just don't seem to want to cooperate with me. But Dr Marr went above and beyond trying to get me ones that would would work. He always spends the time with me helping try lenses and seeing if they will work. He is never in a rush to get to the next patient. He is just all together friendly. Which is why the three of them work so well together. They just mesh well together to make your visit a pleasant one. Robin takes care of helping you with your glasses and is uber patient because well, I am THAT patient! "Hmmm, I don't know if I like these ones or these ones or maybe these ones over there! Wait maybe I'll go with sunglasses! What do you mean you got rid of the Marc Jacobs line?!" Yeah that's me. And let's not forget with the virus in effect that every pair you try on has to be taken away and sanitized before going back out. But she never bats an eyelash. Also because I'm joking about most things. Which is what you want out of a doctors office no matter what type of doctor it is. To be able to banter back and forth. So if you are in search of an eye doctor, I am ALL for Insight Vision in Lenexa. Plus they are right off K10! Super convenient. But make sure you tell them Aundrea sent you!

The service at Hunter Family Vision is something I do not see in the marketplace today. I work and am very familiar with group insurance. I work for a consulting house that is HQ in KC and while my practice is focused on absence, I know a fair amount about other group offered products. I received a text today from Brandi at Hunter Family Vision notifying me that my company's eye insurance provider, VSP, was changing their policy provisions and I may not be eligible after 6/1 for "medically necessary" contacts. In the early 90s, I grew up as a kid who had to patch their right eye to make the left eye stronger and for a long time, glasses were my only option. I eventually moved to contacts and saw a competitor. No one ever told me that insurance may cover the cost of my contacts because of the difference in the prescription between my right and left eye. At my first visit, Dr. Swan told me they should be covered 100%. The thousands of dollars she has saved me over the last 5 years goes above and beyond what I would anticipate from any other healthcare provider. This is true patient advocacy. I was overwhelmingly impressed with Brandi and the entire office staff at Hunter Family Vision. I received a proactive text today about the policy changes and recommended that I come in and see Dr. Swan for my annual exam before my policy changed. That text alone also saved me hundreds of dollars. Otherwise, I would have waited until the end of the year to only find out that VSP may not cover my contacts. I live in Lawrence, KS now. But I will happily make the trip to continue to be a patient of Dr. Swan and Hunter Family Vision. Thank you so much for being an advocate for patient healthcare.
