I am absolutely blown away by the unprofessionalism that was exhibited by Dr. Costa.
I am enrolling my son into preschool and they told me he needed his eyes checked, I called around and had two doctors offices recommend her. When I called to schedule an appointment the receptionist was so kind and said they would accommodate my son who is on the spectrum. When I get there a woman (who turned out to be Dr. Costa) said, "do you remember where the play room is?" In a tone that was awful. The receptionist said, "oh he's never been here before." And took us to this playroom that had old dirty toys. We went over to the exam room where they would look behind his eyes and my son is hesitant and needs some coaxing, the tech that was doing it was trying her best but my son is stubborn so I called in his dad to help. No luck either but she said Dr. Costa could possible do it manually. It seemed to me then that this office doesn't get many children on the spectrum but we were just going to tough through it.
Also my son hasn't had his eyes checked before.
Dr. Costa then pulls us into her room with the big chair and my son again is refusing and is in need of coaxing. I felt her getting annoyed at us and that just made him get even more unwilling. My son is 4 years old, has never been to get his eyes checked and is on the spectrum. I would think even with other children you should have some patience and be a kind human being but for some reason this doctor couldn't find it in her to have some patience or explain to my son in a tone that wasn't rooted in superiority that everything will be fine.
It gets worse.
When it was clear to all of us that he wasn't cooperating, she said, "okay he's done. We have to reschedule, he has to listen." Okay fair but your tone? Needs work. When we are leaving, the poor receptionist is trying to fill out paperwork with me and Dr. Costa comes up behind us and says, "there was no eye exam. We need to reschedule." And the receptionist said, "oh okay, I've never done this before." And Dr. Costa said, "it doesn't matter. No." And snatched the clipboard out of her hands and walked away. My sons father and I looked at each other in utter disbelief. I have never EVER seen this level of unprofessionalism in my life.
I am a hairdresser and I will never EVER recommend this place to anyone. I hope the receptionist find another job, I feel awful for her. Run away from this place. Don't even risk it, I read a review on here that said if everything is going her way then it's good, and if it isn't then she is unprofessional. I 100% agree. read more
