The good - Dr. Schroeder is a great ophthalmologist. The bad - in the many times I've called to make an appointment, I have never had anyone actually answer the phone. A year ago we made an appt at Twin Creeks location. The appt was made with the Dr who delivered a baby 2 days later. Had to change appt. We arrived for appt only to be told they don't accept our insurance. Went ahead anyway. I made the appt so I would have contacts for my son's wedding 2 months in advance. Had to return multiple times because they couldn't get the script correct, had to wait 2 weeks each time for trial contacts, multiple times I called and had to leave msgs and nobody returned the call. I stopped in and got a trial pair of contacts they said they had had for weeks. I went to Cunningham and got the correct script and walked out with a trial pair of contacts....NP! Now I have a collection notice.....never received a bill....and have an EOB that shows patient responsibility $0. Now I am learning they coded the claim wrong and now they are looking for payment w/interest! If there was a way to put a negative million stars on this review I would read more

SCAMMERS. FRAUDULENTLY charge EYE EXAMS as medical to make you pay more. Will claim you COULD have a medical issue in the future so that justifies them charging you medical. For an eye exam. A scheduled yearly eye exam appt where ONLY an eye exam was done. Do not recommend. Do not go unless you want to be scammed. read more

I had one visit and then tried to follow up regarding changes needed for contacts. It is very hard to get through to a person and if you do, you have to leave a message. I spent 3 weeks trying to get an answer and never did. I eventually gave up and moved to another office. I am paying out of pocket for an additional exam as this office is impossible to communicate with. The care itself and provider were fine. They need major changes to their answering services and in office communication. read more

Have always had great experiences here. Service and care have been good. I now see Dr Roth at the Twin Creek location instead of Lake Ave and the staff there is great there as well My only disappointment is the excessive wait time in the lobby before I am finally seen. read more

I was greeted right when I walked in the door, with a friendly smile and very happy to assist me, he wasn't pushy. He wnor did he push a brand on me he gave me as much time as I needed, and that I made me feel good because you can't just pick one pair of eyeglasses, I had seven to pick out of one which I ended up picking two. My experience was amazing. SERVICE was amazing and the prices are amazing. Never thought I would get two pairs of glasses for what I paid for. I'd highly recommend going to. Why is okay for a normal appointment to take over an hour and a half? Wasting peoples time is disrespectful.

Beware. This group lied about insurance participation. We have full coverage for eye exams. They said they were in the plan. After the visit we received a bill for $230 for the exam and one box of contact lenses. The exam, which was most of the cost, should have been fully covered. They sent us to collections, we had to pay before they hit our credit. Their website and their rep indicated they were on the plan. Seems like fraud to me. If you plan to go here, don't take their word for insurance coverage, they will happily lie to your face then send you to Total Recovery Services. Beware. We called the office, and spoke the the front desk girl, we gave her our insurance information, she confirmed coverage and verified out of pocket expenses, all of this prior to the appointment. We did our due diligence and trusted your staff to be thorough. This is about incompetence on the part of VCO, and we were stuck paying the price. Your reply to this review demonstrates that you spent no time investigating the claim. You should take this to your team and find out why you are verifying insurance, prior to the service, that you do not accept. Your service, your position and your response are misguided and unfortunate. I don't expect that we are the only people who have been or will be, in the future, affected by this. read more

Buyer beware. If you are going for your yearly exam- make sure it is just that and DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MEDICAL INSURANCE. They will find a way to go beyond your annual exam and bill you and your medical insurance and not respect your vision insurance and the reason for the appointment. read more

I have been diagnosed with Diplopia before, from another eye doctor. But I decided to come over here for a change, bc they accepted medicaid. They did a better job of taking care of my vision needs than the other place iv'e been too. That and the doctor and everyone were VERY friendly. And the selection is to die for! I have medicaid, and to see the selection she pulled out when I said I wanted plastic frames, I was all like woah! The selection of glasses they had are just amazing. I really like Dr Roth and my appointment was great - I would rate that part as a 5. My low rating is due to my eyeglass purchase. The southwest location has a low inventory of choices, so they sent me to their Lake Avenue location where they have a larger selection. I went and chose new frames, and picked them up 2 weeks later. The glasses have never fit correctly and are painful to wear - so they sit in the case and I wear the old ones. I tried several adjustments at the southwest location to no avail. They told me for any further resolution I would have to go back to their Lake Avenue location. This is a problem since I work full time and care for my elderly mother and her appointments, and getting that kind of time is very difficult. But, since I can't wear the glasses, I finally took my lunch time and went back for options. They insisted on adjusting my glasses again, and if that doesn't work I can come back and to a refit (basically pick out another pair) - "we get new frames in all the time....". I don't have time to drive 30 minutes one way. Had I known up front that would be the case, I would have taken my prescription elsewhere. They will not give me a refund, so I have to learn to wear the painful glasses, take a chance on a new pair (which will be 2 more visits IF they fit well and don't hurt), or be out $900. I've been wearing glasses for over 20 years, and get a new pair about every 2 years, and I have NEVER had the problems like I've had here. read more

They are not equipped to work with a 14 month old. We were referred to them by our pediatrician and they had no idea who our pediatrician was or the group, and they are a well known pediatric group in Fort Wayne. When we were called back they had no idea who the patient was and that she was a 1 year old. We were shuffled around to 5 different assistants. They tried 3 different times to get her prescription and were not successful, but we were told that she has a severe vision problem (with no concrete evidence to prove it). They also dilated her eyes in order to "get her prescription" after which we were told that she may not see until the following morning. They have no tools to accommodate younger children. They used a miniature rubber duck and a popsicle stick with 4 stickers to get her to focus on that when the lights are turned off no person can see no matter the age. Extremely disappointed that we spent 2 hours with them and were told nothing. They asked that I come back a week later to try again. Well if you are using the same methods you used at our initial visit you will have no luck with her. No one year old likes being held down with different objects coming at her face, sorry. We have cancelled her next appointment and are looking for a practice better equipped to handle a child. read more
