Dr. Seibel is absolutely the best in the business. As an individual with extreme nearsightedness, an astigmatism in each eye, degenerative myopia, and medically necessary contacts, there is absolutely NO ONE else I would trust with the health of my eyes. I am also self-employed. This makes it difficult to get eye insurance. The team at VisionCare Consultants worked with me through the entire process to make sure I could acquire and maintain the appropriate insurance for my needs. Drs and staff are nice. However I didn't receive a bill until almost 8 months later after I thought my dues were paid and wanted to charge a $15 finance charge and $20 for my apt that I thought was paid in full. I don't mind paying the $20 but the $15 on the first bill I received is ridiculous. read more

I have been coming here for quite some time. There was an accident on 270 that caused me to be 15 minutes late. They said they can't see me and I had to reschedule, after I drove over 30 minutes to get there. If you are so overbooked you can't handle this, you should stop overbooking. I'm sad to say that after many years of being a patient, my entire family and myself, my 17 yr old son who was on time for his appointmen, was told to leave and they canceled his appointment because I was stuck in traffic and was going to be 10 min late. The place is welcoming and everyone is friendly, but they will take you to the cleaners financially if you let them. I don't have vision problems (yet) and was just getting comfortable with getting routine eye exams and trying to stay ahead of any future problems. I had my first exam about 2.5 years ago (also the first eye exam in my life), and everything they did and charged seemed reasonable, so I decided to go back there for the next visit. For my second exam recently (a routine eye exam for a 44-year old patient with 20/20 vision), they billed both my vision and medical insurance, and I also ended up paying $150 out of pocket on top of what insurance paid out. I don't understand why they only billed my vision insurance for the first visit and then billed my vision and medical insurance for the second visit. They need to be more upfront about what services they are doing and what the estimated out of pocket costs will be instead of just doing whatever they want and then surprising you with a bill. I don't mind paying extra for more in-depth testing, but I want to know what I'm getting in advance and make sure that it's necessary. I don't think I can afford to go to this place once I start having eye and vision problems, so I will be going to a different place and doctor for my next exam. read more

My 84 year old mother has been going to this office for several years. She has always had great care, but just beware of extra charges. When she checked out for her annual exam, they charged her $95 for tests that were not covered under Medicare. She was not informed that they would be extra (and some were probably not needed). When I called to question it, they told me that she signed a form 6 months ago stating that they may do tests that charge extra. I asked why it wasn't standard practice to inform patients before tests were given that it would be an extra charge. The office supervisor seemed annoyed by my questions and said that is just how they do it. read more

Dr. Friederich provides excellent eye care and is a genuinely pleasant person to interact with. I've dealt with plenty of gruff doctors who try to get rid of patients as quickly as possible, but Dr. Friederich is nothing like that. He takes the time to talk with you and makes sure he answers all of your questions, which is always appreciated. Everyone on staff whom I've interacted with is kind and courteous as well. Vision Care Consultant is absolutely the worst. Horrible customer service. When I ordered my glasses I was told it would be 2 -3 weeks. I called after 3 1/2 weeks to follow up and the response was still in the lab and we will call you when your glasses arrive. I proceed to ask how much longer and the response was depends on the lab and higher prescription glasses take longer. No offer to check with the lab. Vision Care Consultants required payment in full when ordering my glasses which wasn't a problem but trying to get what the actual glasses has proven to be a nightmare. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Friederich for the past 10+ years and I cant recommend him enough! I was having continued issues with soft lenses when I was recommended to go to vision care consultants. This is a top notch facility. They use the latest technology and are up to date on the newest optometry therapies. I've been going here for three years now and I'm continuously impressed by the time they take with me to make sure my prescription is correct. I switched to them after going to an in-store eye doctor at a chain store who I felt like rushed the exam and I ended up with a prescription that wasn't right for me. That doesn't seem to be a possibility at VisionCare Consultants. Dr. Wehner and the entire team are friendly, helpful and thorough. The office itself is nice and inviting too. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place! I was blown away from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. Everyone was beyond helpful and kind. I was in a pinch and was totally out of contacts, and my glasses give me headaches if I wear them too long. I had called another popular Optometrist in the area and the receptionist was rude, short and just seemed annoyed with me, contrary to all the good things I had heard about them. Oh well, I decided to make an appointment anyways for the their very next availability. TWO WEEKS AWAY. Ugh. Fast forward to today, I read some good google reviews about this place (there were none on Yelp yet) and I give them a call and ask them if they could possibly get me in on Thursday since I knew I'd be off then, they unfortunately did not, but the extremely helpful receptionist asked me if I was free in about half an hour, they had an opening. YES PLEASE!! I was on my way. As soon as I walked in, I was taken back by how nice it was inside, they even had a fancy new-fangled coffee/espresso machine, score! The wonderful ladies reception were so nice. Dr. Brawley was phenomenal! So caring and thorough with me since I told him I hadn't had an eye exam in almost 2 years and his aid/helper, Alicia was so nice as well. She was so excited to go over my "goody bag" with me, YAY FREEBIES! Overall, I will absolutely be recommending this place to anyone who will listen and as long as I have crappy vision, they will have a loyal patient/customer. read more

Don't go here. This place will rip you off. They charged me for lens enhancements I didn't authorize. Their prices are ridiculous compared to other doctors in the area, and my husband had to complain to get his free eye exam thru his insurance. You shouldn't have to fight with staff to get the benefits you deserve from your insurance.i won't go back here ever! During a routine, annual vision exam with Vision Care Consultants, they add in "medical" exams so that they can bill not only your vision insurance company but also your medical insurance company. If you have a deductible that you have not yet met on your medical plan, you will get hit with a hefty bill for your vision exam. This is exactly what happened to me. This will happen during a standard annual exam, even if you have no eye health issues and do not wear glasses. They know what vision insurance you have and they know that these "medical" tests will not be covered by it, but they will not tell you. You will find out later when you get the bill in the mail. read more

While the doctors are top notch, its a shame that they run test after test that charges you out of pocket, even if you have 2 insurances. This has happened on several past yearly visits I've had. Just be careful and read all the paperwork and the bills. read more

I have been a patient of this practice for the nine years I have been in St Louis. When our family moved to the area, it was extremely important for me to find a very competent eye doctor since I was less than one year out from my corrective eye surgery back in New Jersey. My former eye doctor recommended Vision Care Consultants and I couldn't be happier. It is well worth the 25 minute drive from my home in Clayton. They have state of the art equipment to test the various aspects of eye health and function - more than my previous office which up until that point was the most thorough I had seen. They have a team of professionals who are courteous and clearly happy in their work environment. They see both pediatric and adult patients and even my children (who both wear glasses) are happy to go. Just today, one of the men in the optical department spent nearly 30 minutes adjusting my daughter's new frames with utmost patience and understanding so that they would fit just right.
