    Game-Ending Double Play
    Will A.

So, now they are called the Rawhide and our part of the Diamondbacks system. They recently made some renovations to the ballpark, and it is an amazing looking place for A ball team. My good friend from high school lives there and go us the famed dugout seats. It is a great time for both kids and adults. The kids get lots of swag from the game (bats, ball, etc) and the adults get served like they were at a bar/restaurant. You are right down on the field, of course, and it is a great view of the ball game. Parking is a bit of an issue for this place, but you just have to remind yourself that it's not like San Francisco where they will ticket your car. The team was off to a 9-0 start, and so they look like a strong team. Crowd was decent, and the sound system wasn't that bad for a single A team.

Very thankful to have received free tickets for taco throwdown entrance!…read more This was my 3rd time attending to this event. Check-in was quick but for some reason the wand was beeping on me and had nothing on me, in which the staff kept waving the wand up and down. There was about 24 taco trucks I believe. Plus the micheladas and salsa contest. I was only able to try 2 trucks which the first one taco macho was 10/10 worth the wait. You have to have a plan to try and taste as many taco trucks that you can because the lines are huge. I tried to micheladas and they were both good, a bit watered down but good. The performances were good as they portrayed all generations! One thing that I was upset about was the women bathrooms....I know when people drink they may get tipsy and using the bathroom a lot but these stalls were terrible. I feel bad for the staff that had to clean them. I'm glad Fresno continues to do events like this though!

Recently attended Taco Truck Throw Down! My thoughts on the…read morepark- I first have to start with saying the park really was on top of security. We were all wanded with a metal detector and they had a clear bag policy. The event was held on the field and they put down flooring on top of the field which was really nice. The concert stage was located in center field and trucks were positions around the perimeter of the field. The bathrooms could definitely use more attention throughout the event but overall they weren't the worst. My thoughts on the event- Honestly it's a great concept. Lots of tacos and some friendly competition. You do need to wear comfy shoes and prepare to wait in some very long lines. I will say some of the competitors handled their lines very swiftly. I don't think you could hit every truck even if you tried just because of the wait times. There was one truck in particular that was trying to trade votes for entry into a raffle which was entirely ridiculous in my opinion. I do have to mention Harry's Mex Grill as being my absolute favorite of the 7 trucks I tried. They earned my vote and I can't wait to find them out at other event! Overall, I think this is an event everyone has to try once! I highly recommend purchasing the VIP tickets because they're a great value. Overall, a huge shoutout to Chukchansi park and Fresno street eats for putting on a huge community event year after year!

It's rare for the youth of today to have some decent outdoor facilities. Tulare, despite needing…read moresome desperate infrastructure upgrades in general, seems to have gotten something right when it comes to this sprawling complex complete with at least six ball fields. I usually come to watch my wife's nephews. It's a great joy to see these once-little tykes grow into their bats and start knocking them toward the fences. As a spectator, you can usually find some shade beneath the trees lining the fences, but be sure to bring your own seating as the actual bleachers fill up. Here, more than most places, it seems like people come out in droves to watch the kids, which really shows some great community support. There are some improvements that can be made to the field and it can be quite distracting when the train rolls through every hour or so, but overall these kids have it made. Baseball is alive and well in Tulare.

Parking isn't great and is particularly horrible if you have a game at the North end of the park. Lots of homeless people around. The league doesn't help coaches find decent practice spots. 2022 charge to play for 10-12 y/o was $150 for registration + $17 for your kid to get a drink/snowcone after their game + an estimated $20/$30 for an end-of-season trophy and pizza party, + each child is required to have an adult work two separate 2-hour sessions at the concession stands. Try not to deal with the board members as they are entitled pricks and pick-n-choose which rules they want to enforce. At the end of the day, my kids have fun out there playing ball with the other kids and every now and then you get some great coaches who volunteer their time.

Crazy! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hEtAe4sTl769tOxWn_CDnQ?select=Zmyjho7UUTkITxhYATYIDA We arrived around 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 22nd. The qualifying was Saturday and the finals were Sunday. The entrance fee was $15 per day or $20 for both days. Parking was free. They didn't allow glass containers in the park but said we could pour our beers into plastic cups. They also let us bring in food, chairs, and our rolling ice chest. And there are quite a few shade trees to sit under for shade. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hEtAe4sTl769tOxWn_CDnQ?select=1Ydp8p3gqGJpIb_ffwZOzg We could hear (and feel!) the teams warming up their boats. Even though it was a short race track of a quarter mile, the boats would get up to speeds of 150 mph or more. And Lake Ming doesn't really have a beach - the grass goes straight to the waters edge, so we were very close to the boats. Everyone kept telling me to never turn my back to the boats racing because they've been known to skid out of control and up onto the grass. Yikes. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hEtAe4sTl769tOxWn_CDnQ?select=YU-MbjfMsgWCsrdW4jPAZA There were t-shirts for sale for $20 each and they let you choose the size and color and then silkscreened them right there. The food was calorific. One of our friends had a deep-fried hot dog and called it The Gut Bomb. The bomb went off on the ride home, unfortunately. I have to admit that I liked the bigger, faster, louder boats the best. My adrenaline was pumping just from watching the boats fly across the water. And the team names and boat names were funny and clever too - F-Bomb, Wake Up Call, Comfortably Numb... It was a fun new adventure!
