I was in a panic and searched the internet for a service to help me. I choose Travisa in Atlanta, GA. I made a mistake in my initial fedex mail to Travisa, sending them my passport and the Travisa Brazil Visa Order order form that I signed instead of the actual Official Brazilian Visa Request Form from the Brazilian Consulate that one links to in part 2 of the visa process on the Travisa web sight. . Terry, Assistant Manager of the Atlanta Branch, walked me through the process and looked at my passport to give me my date of issue, as that date is needed on the visa form, and was not on my record with Travisa. Only my passport # and expiry date was. Warning: Do not use an IPAD to complete the official visa request form! Use a regular computer. Once you fill out the form, fill in the security code, and hit Submit, a number for your visa application appears with a link to print the one page form that you attach your passport photo to, sign, and mail to Travisa, along with your passport and other required information, such as Travisa Order Form, proof of flights, bank statement, etc. The other information that you fill out, such as parents' names, address, hotel in Brazil, etc, does not print out. That is just kept in the Brazilian Consulate system. Only the one page form to sign, attach your photo to and send to Travisa prints out. You do not need to fill in the Nome Do Contato and Telephone lines at the bottom of the form. Just sign in the box at the bottom of the page. Terry first alerted me to the fact that I was missing the necessary form the night she received my passport and other information. She sent me an email that same evening about it. We communicated a couple times by email and then I called her direct number that was in her email. She answered right away and called me back as I filled out the form. Make sure you have a 2x2 passport style photo printed on photo paper. 4. Save $$$ and bring a money order for payment. You will certainly pay to sale your currency back, but at least you re-coop some of your money. On a recent trip to Mexico we bought pesos at the rate of $12.95 pesos to the USD and ended up bringing back a few pesos. After going to my bank Wells Fargo I referred to Altour; which was luckily located next door to my office so it is very nice to just have to walk over this morning and sale the pesos. After an $8 service charge and their exchange rate of $1 USD to $14.86 pesos I only took a loss of $23.21 USD. Not bad considering it will probably be a while before I return to Mexico, so I got a little bit of my money back. Also, I should mention if you are selling your currency back to Altour AMEX is that they do not buy coins; only bills. I've now got $36 pesos in coins as souvenirs to remind me of my trip to Mexico.
