The owners went out of their way to make my daughter feel welcome and she has progressed tremendously. There are two performances each year and are a joy to watch. After seeing how 2 other studios operate there is a night and day difference in how this studio is ran. All the instructors are highly skilled and accomplished in their styles of dance. Keri, our instructor, was able to tailor the lesson to his pace, and build his confidence up- we we both had a lot of fun and felt great about the outcome of the lesson. Keri even offered to professionally mix 2 versions of the song we chose (at my dad's request) for a small extra fee. It was wonderful we could get that taken care of at State of the Arts- one less thing to worry about! So glad we scheduled with Keri, and I would recommend this lesson to any one with special event coming up.

They started off with classes and this last year did competitive and both have been so much fun and they've grown so much in dance and as people! He has been through a great deal in the past two years. Not only did the instructor not check in with him once during the entire class (as I watched it on the monitor) but also made no efforts to clue him in to the current routine. She did not engage with the kids whatsoever and was facing the mirror the entire time. As expected, my son left disinterested and we will be looking elsewhere. There was not even a follow up call to check in with us .

This dance school is adorable and one of the only schools in Boulder dedicated to teaching only…read morechildren. They have everything from hip-hop and ballet, to movement classes like Nia and Pilates. This is a good thing because movement classes can help a growing dancer by keeping them strong and limber without overtaxing dancing muscles and tendons. Their pricing structure makes a lot of sense, pay for a semester that would follow the local schools schedule. You can also pay monthly and annually, but they don't follow the class schedule. I thought the expression classes would be something great for any child, dressing up as characters and trying to express them through movement. What fun.

So I think this is gonna be one of those experiences that you either love or hate. Personally, I…read morefound it charming and quaint in a nostalgic kind of way. My 4-year-old got a little bored towards the end as it's kind of a longer show and it's very low tech- think the kind of circus that your grandparents would've gone to, minus the, sad exotic animals, which is a good thing. I purchased our tickets early and was able to get them for a lower rate which was also nice. The only thing I would say is that we bought their $10 popcorn, which wouldn't have been a huge deal if it was good, but it definitely tasted a bit stale and I wish that we had brought our own popcorn in bags or just waited and gotten something better at the festival afterwards.

Flabbergasting. Also the gymnasts using their legs to flip and throw their partners' bodies like juggling. The trapeze guy swinging and twisting in the air up at the top of the tent completely balanced on his head. Wild. Horse acrobatics, check. More aerial work, check. Endearing slapstick from young family performers. This is the traditional circus experience I want. Better perhaps because there aren't any elephants/tigers that make you wonder about treatment. 9 year old fully engaged. 6 year old's interest did flit around a bit. Second what another said about the popcorn being a bit stale. We sat on the bleacher seats and, you know what, I love 'em--just classic popup circus experience. They were really smart to raise the tent sides at some point for cooling air flow. I want more horseback riding while jumping through flaming hoops. I want the strongman show.

There was a live orchestra whose score was smooth, lively, and perfect accompaniment to the actors performance. There is a magic in live music and performance and I definitely felt it. The actors were beautiful singers, had great stage presence and really sold the story. I think my favorite part was the costumes though. They were so beautiful era pieces/modern recreations. The cast had to change so many times throughout the performance and I am sure the complexity of their outfits didn't help. The costuming and casting was so good my party and I were arguing if the child and the captain were actually college aged as they accurately looked their characters intended age. Ps. The doggos were the real stars who are we even kidding anyways :).
