The space feels so serene between the "jungle wall" of the pole room, well-equipped locker room, and plants everywhere. The only class I've taken (a few times) is Pole 4 with Estee. I've had her as an instructor at a few other pole studios, so it was nice to have some level of familiarity with her teaching style. The weird details I like about Sankalpa are the microphone headset worn by the instructor and the water refill station next to the front desk. I've made a few friends at the studio who come here more often than I do. It's a little far of a drive for me (plus traffic) because of where I live, but if you can, definitely check out their variety of yoga, dance, and pole classes. Unfortunately, I would not take Peter M's class again as something was said that was very off-putting during the class. While he is very talented and skilled, I did not come to a dance class to be chastised. We are grown adults and did not deserve to be talked to the way he talked to us. Dance class should be a safe space. There was a moment in the class that we were unable to hear the directions he was giving us as he was talking over the music. We began to dance the choreo we learned, but apparently, he advised us to simply watch him at that time. After we were done performing our 2 minute choreo, he chastised us for not listening to him. We were simply unable to hear...and it honestly made me regret taking his class and making the drive down there during my very limited free time.

Colorado New Style is a dance studio just outside of downtown Denver. It is located near industrial…read morebuildings so it is a bit secluded but don't let that deter you from coming. CNS offers free intro to Salsa and Bachata lessons. Yes, that's right. I said FREE! The classes run on a 10 week program. Each week builds off of one another so it is important that you take classes from the beginning if you are a beginner. Classes for each style are offered twice a week. Salsa is on Tuesdays at 6pm and Thursdays at 7pm. While, Bachata is on Tuesdays at 8:30pm and Fridays at 8pm. It is not necessary to attend both classes every week because they cover the same thing but it is offered so you can get some extra practice in. I would recommend going to their website to make sure you are starting at the beginning of the 10 week program so you don't get lost :) I have only just begun taking lessons and love it so far. I have also gone along with friends who dance Salsa and Bachata regularly (some competitively) and they only have positive things to say about it. It is great for dancers of all levels to go to hone and refresh your skills. On top of the free classes, they charge packages for higher level dancers. More information about that is available on their website. The instructors are very skilled, attentive, and give individualized attention to everyone even in large classes! If they see common mistakes among their pupils, they are quick to correct it which I find extremely important. They are also bilingual and are willing to instruct the class in both languages if there are any language barriers. I highly recommend these classes for anyone interested in learning Salsa or Bachata - or even if you want to get some extra practice in without the awkwardness or pressure of social dancing!

I gotta say, good customer service and genuine friendliness at someone's place of work is not easy to find these days. There's a lot of bitter folks out there that should not be engaging members/customers as they give the business a bad name. Not this place, they were so friendly and while there are parts of the club that look a bit older this place is exactly what I would expect from a tennis club. It has a great tennis pro shop with a good amount of merchandise, the gym is a little above average and decently well equipped, especially for a tennis club. Many of the places I've belonged to that were more tennis oriented didn't have great gym facilities so it's nice that they have a good amount of equipment. Even being a member of 2 different country clubs, both very nice, neither of them had great gym facilities. The paddle ball courts are very nice and they have a few outdoor tennis courts that are well maintained along with 7, I believe, indoor courts with good lighting (important!). The men's locker room could definitely use some love as it's very old and outdated but it does have a hot tub in it that's decent sized and lockers and honestly it's about the same as any other tennis club I've been in. Can't wait to start plugging into the community of members and play some folks with equal skill level. I'm huge on how I am treated the moment I walk in the door (so incredibly important for businesses to give a good first impression), and so many places fail this test by either acting like you're bothering them by asking them to do their job or at least be somewhat kind and respectful to someone paying money to be a member at the place they work at, which is crazy to me I have to say this. I don't care how nice a place is if their staff is rude or they treat people differently based on how they look (in my case a lot of tattoos, which isn't a usual thing to see at country clubs and tennis clubs) then I'll not be joining. Point being, I was immediately won over by the lady at the desk who treated me as I would imagine she treats everyone that walks through those doors, with kindness and respect. It's weird that I even have to say this, but so many places just don't do well on this anymore. Overall, 5 stars for the staff doing a great job answering my questions and spending time to give me the low down on the club and definitely what I would expect, equipment and amenities wise, from a tennis club! Look forward to getting to know the folks here.
