Below I'll give context and positives too but if ya don't want to read here's a summary of the not good things, assume the good ones too! The people are good!
- most often no water
- or cleaner for poles and sometimes mats in the past, dirty rags
- floors can dirty your feet sometimes
- Classes canceled way too often
- They can choose to cancel if attendence is low and or you show up too close to class start
- Membership you sign up for may not include all class types you wanted later in membership
- Classes can be basic or beginner or sloppy with not much progression, just minimal upkeep to basic skills (speaking on dance, fitness classes good mostly but sometimes same choreo goes too many weeks)
- Not enough actual dance classes or they cost extra as workshops
- Some teachers aren't skilled in teaching quality or prepare much or are just going through the motions or not motivational (but mostly good and some are great.)
- Owner abruptly ended membership without consultation or communication concerning a perceived issue I feel as adults could be easily made clear and remedied. Effectively only taking in one data source, not all. (Like if you were fired by one input without them asking YOU yours and reviewing the camera footage.) This would be fine but for it being the only option locally. It could also be viewed as retaliatory, given no space for resolve. But doubtful.
- Pole class days limited to only three days forcing us trying to progress to stagnate or be overworked where classes are doubled in schedule. I believe it also limits attendance and access and though teachers seemed open to space them out, it was never offered nor was a reason against it offered.
A loving but realistic review of this studio. It's a mountain town studio, not a city. You'll get what you get and they are not comfortable with suggestions or input it seems. It has a small town community vibe too, mostly warm, people can seem closed off sometimes or afraid to speak up in such a small community. So when I did and also echoed sentiments repeated to me from other classmates I was usually met with non answers. What you should know is prices rival more professional studios, I suppose supply and demand. When I first started the owner would do most the classes and be worn out and do things half energy so you had to rely on yourself to be self motivated and be safe, that has gotten much better by taking on other teachers and communicating safe stances. What you sign up for may not be what you get months later as her teachers come and go and don't always get replaced or quickly replaced. I was with them almost a year and you won't get far with ballroom stuff as it's only catered to beginners, I only once got to practice above that level and went often. It also may not be what you get that day as cancels are too often imo. I've had 4-5 cancels in one week. Though it's often only one or so but often the reasons for cancels were the worst. Pole classes aren't spread out so you get worn doing double or limited access. I had more context but space is limited here. Tried to give a rating realistic and not personal, it would be less if personal. They're doing a standard job here I suppose. But some stuff is inexcusable too. read more
