First time using this company for a move from Roanoke, VA to Tampa, FL. Cost was close to $8k given it was only 1- 26 ft truck with no furniture and mostly odds and ends with lots of storage totes. Types of items matter with pricing I learned. Everything was very smooth and the logistics & price were very good for the quality & convenience of service. A crew of 3 loaded the truck, & with our house having 3 levels I was glad the movers were young and strong guys. On the receiving end they had 2 movers to unload, but it was much easier in Florida with a 1 level home. All in all they were professional & efficient. Any time I move in the future I'll be using Varsity. read more

Virginia Varsity Transfer - The 1 truck used to move our stuff from VA to FL - Movers Near Me - Salem, Virginia

Had two different households to move into a new home, after the first morning, I called the office to request the same moving team for the next house. Chris and the rest of the crew were amazing, constant motion, no breaks, worked as a team. I really was dreading the move, they changed my mind! I don't know where they find their people, especially nowadays... I highly recommend Varsity. read more

They did a great job with our move, polite and very careful with our belongings. The men moving our furniture were careful and respectful of our requests. This is the third time I've used this moving company (for myself and for my parents) and I would hire them again without question. Hard workers! I highly recommend this company! read more

I have submitted photos and additional information that was requested by Virginia Varsity Transfer. I will post here if any sort of refund is provided. Since I already threw away things like broken totes and a bookshelf that was totally smashed, I don't have pictures of all of the items that were damaged. But I've attached some photos just so everyone knows that this is a legit post. read more

This was a great moving experience, very professional, timely, priced as expected (actually a little lower), and everything arrived in great condition. Couldn't be happier, would recommend. read more

John's Team at Virginia Varsity Transfer moved us last Saturday 1/28/2023 from Cave Spring across town to our new house in Vinton. They were on time, professional, quick, responsive and easy to work with! I highly recommend them as a moving company! read more

These guys did a fantastic job with our local move. The admin team was always responsive, professional, and helpful. The estimate was accurate, and the movers arrived on time and were honest and professional. Our furniture arrived at the new place unscathed. We had a scam moving company move us last year so were nervous about moving again, but Virginia Varsity completely renewed our faith in the moving business. 100% recommend them for anyone wanting an honest and straightforward move. read more

Just moved from Roanoke to Richmond. Was getting crazy quotes from different companies, both large and small, national and local, before speaking to VVT. Estimate meeting was simple/easy. Pricing was spot on with what I was expecting (we had just moved from Arlington to Roanoke and weight/distance of this move was going to be similar, so I had a rough # in my head). Move couldn't have been any smoother. Load in day they were on time, efficient, and handled everything so I could clean the house as they finished rooms, expediting my departure from the property. Move in was just as easy: on time and efficient. The gentlemen that moved us out and in were all very respectful and easy to work with. They payed a lot of attention and care as they moved things be sure nothing got damaged (both the house and the moved items). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Virginia Varsity Transfer to anyone in the Roanoke Valley looking for a moving service. Thanks to you all, it was one of the smoothest moves I've ever made! read more

Very happy with service! Personnel were careful with furniture and cost effective. Liz read more

Once again Virginia Varsity Transfer completed a move for me in rockstar fashion!!! They sent 5 very capable and efficient men out to move me to my new home. I have used them before and really won't use anyone else! Absolutely FANTASTIC!! As usual!! read more

I recently moved from a 2nd floor apartment to a 3rd floor apartment so I could be closer to work. 3 movers arrived 15 early and immediately started working. They were fantastic. They took care of my furniture and loaded a 26 ft truck in 90 minutes. After an hour drive (and a lunch break) they got right to work moving everything into my new place. They never complained about the 3rd floor and worked the whole time. They were very polite and hard working during the entire move. I know the team consisted of Jake and I think another was Tim. Forgot the other name. I highly recommend them. Very efficient, polite, and professional. read more

We chose Virginia Varsity for our move from Christiansburg to Williamsburg based on their outstanding Yelp reviews. It turned out to be an excellent decision. Will and his team were courteous, professional, efficient and personable. They took great care with our furnishings and not one item was damaged. We would definitely recommend Virginia Varsity to anyone who values a smooth transition from one home to another--you will be very pleased with their customer service! read more

Virginia Varsity helped us with 2 moves and a weekend of dump, consignment and donation runs. We can't say enough about the teams, hard working, efficient and polite. We highly recommend them for any and all moves. read more

John helped me pick up 400lbs of boxes from the FedEx office in Roanoke and delivered them to my apartment - carrying them ALL inside to my 2nd floor unit. He was on time, fast, personable, clean, and went above and beyond - even unloading my own car that had other boxes and items inside. I'm telling all my friends about him and will certainly call him up again to help haul other items! read more

Our move from Roanoke to Richmond was truly so much easier than I expected. It was truly a stress free three and a half days. Everyone at Virginia Varsity was helpful, conscientious and respectful of our needs. Just love the young men that packed our many boxes, emptied each room and loaded and unloaded the trucks. They were incredible. IVirginia Varsity was the best! Thanks for all you did. read more

Virginia Varsity has helped me and my husband move twice now, they are hands down the best movers! We are in an apartment right now so when we get a house we will definitely be using them again read more

Now that we are settled into our temporary apartment, we wanted to take a moment to thank the VVT Team for our smooth transition from Smith Mountain Lake to Winchester, VA VVT met and exceeded our expectations. The courtesy, responsiveness and professionalism of Tony and his crew were well received. Everything went smoothly and ahead of schedule and made a stressful situation much easier than it might have been. We look forward to seeing the VVT Team again when we move into our new home. We were very please with our Virginia Varsity experience. We requested a quote and were promptly visited. At that time we anticipated Virginia Varsity would do a lot of the packing of our goods to move to the new house but since we had access to tour new house and it was only 4 miles away we actually packed and moved a great deal of our clothes and small items ourselves. We alerted VV and they came and did a requote for a much lower price and had no issue with the change. The day of the move the movers came and they were professional, quick, and careful and nothing was damaged. A supervisor checked in on them during the day to make sure all was going according to plan. In the end it was a perfect move and we were very happy with our choice of Virginia Varsity read more

We had a complicated move that involved moving things to and from three different locations over a 4 day period. Probably 5 by the time the crew got back to Roanoke. One of the locations was New York City! We were rather nervous about it, but as soon as Virginia Varsity arrived and took over, we felt at ease. It took the guys nearly 5 hours to get everything to the 40th floor and they never took a break. They would not leave until they were sure everything was in the exact spot that we wanted it. The price was very reasonable and was even less than their original quote. I hope I never have to do anything like this again, but if I do I'll call Virginia Varsity. read more

This company was great. My husband and I just just completed an interstate move from Virginia to Indiana, and it want seamlessly. It's worth it to go with this company. I had a crate full of crystal, glass vases, and glass windowed furniture. We've since unpacked everything, and nothing was broken. Also, the guys that helped with our move were professional and thorough. We were pleased to find that they had not only assembled our furniture, but had properly set-up our washer and dryer for us without asking. I don't often take the time to write reviews, but we had such a difficult time finding a mover. Finally, we were given a recommendation from a friend to go with Virginia Varsity. We're glad we did so. With so many other disreputable companies, it's nice to be able to say that there is an honest, reliable vendor out there. read more

Helped me move from Blacksburg to Roanoke. Movers arrived on time, were extremely polite and professional. Handled my stuff with care. And kept me informed about where they were during the journey. They went an hour over the estimated time, but were definitely not lagging around. Happy I chose VVT for my move! read more

I selected Virginia Varsity Transfer to move my household items from a storage facility in Southern Maryland to my new home in Roanoke. Two trucks and 4 young men arrived on time and after assessing the contents of the two storage facilities promptly started loading up the two trucks. With a impending Mid March Winter storm just hours away, the crew from Varsity took about 2 hours to load up and secure what took me months to fill up the storage units. The next day Varsity showed up at my new home and unloaded the contents of the two trucks. With the same enthusiasm and professionalism all of my items were unloaded and placed exactly were I needed them. I have inboxed but a small amount of my items but the ones marked fragile or the furniture, I have noticed no damage. I would highly recommend this company for any of my moving needs and I hope you consider it as well. read more

After seeing these 5 star ratings for Virginia Varsity Transfer, I felt compelled to write my experience even though it was a few years ago. We had furniture moved from our home to redo our hardwood floors. They sent out 2 young kids to do the moving. No supervisor. When they removed my refrigerator, they did not have it strapped down and it took a tumble down my front porch steps. My refrigerator was still in great shape and running beautifully. They would only allow me $300.00 to replace it. Ha! It cost me $2500.00 to replace it. I did get the $300.00 credit toward my moving. Big deal! I will never use them again and discourage people from doing so. My interaction with the supervisor after the incident was not pleasant. He had no empathy at all. And John Lugar seemed to concerned but later showed he wasn't either. Better discuss replacement value with them in advance. If you have something expensive to you, think again! Karen M. read more

I'm not sure how I feel about these guys. I've been shopping my move around, and these guys seem a little shady. My estimates from other companies have all been coming back around 2700 lbs. When I got my Varsity estimate, it was around 4300 lbs. The price was also almost double. They have a minimum set of hours, which seem a bit high, considering they're local to me, and they kind of evaded the question when I asked if I'd be billed for a full hour if my move went a few minutes into the next hour. Overall, I feel very uncomfortable with Varsity just from speaking with them. I'm definitely going to keep looking for other movers to help me. read more
