The location is visible off Ferrell Parkway in a strip. The store is on the corner of the building. Parking is plentiful and lit clean. This was delivery day so the store had some nice allocated bottles of bourbon. Boxes were on the floor as they rushed product up the best they could. It appeared they were short staffed, who isn't these days. I found what I was looking for in a Knob Creek 12 year and a EH Taylor Small Batch. The manager checked me out and was friendly. She discussed a few things going on with Virginia ABC that was helpful. This is not a regular, but recommend and would happily return.

I was there yesterday , June 19th. It was 6:50 PM, 10 minutes before closing. There was a short…read moreolder guy named Mickey monitoring the door, making sure that everyone was wearing a mask. During the 10 minutes I was in the store I watched this man be very disrespectful to the employees and customers. He was telling the employees to "Just shut up and do what I say." I must've heard him tell the two guys working the registers to "shut up" at least five times.... they weren't even saying anything in the first place! He was also just shouting orders at the customers entering the store. The store was busy because it was 10 minutes before they closed so Mickey was trying to get everyone out of the store so he could close up. Around 6:55 he told the 2 men working the registers , as well as the 4 or 5 people waiting outside that they would be the last customers of the day. A younger black woman that was waiting outside didn't have a mask, so he told her that she couldn't come in. At 6:58 - About 3 minutes after he stated that there would be no other customers, a middle aged white man approached the door and said "All I need is 1 bottle of Jack Daniels" and pretty much begged to be let it in. **THIS GUY DID NOT HAVE A MASK AND MICKEY LET HIM RIGHT IN- NO QUESTIONS ASKED.** As the man entered the store, the younger black woman that Mickey denied entry to made a comment about how she was not let it because she didn't have a mask - just 3 minutes earlier. Mickey reluctantly let her in the store. She told him that what he did was not fair. I agree with her. It seemed blatantly racist. All of the customers in the store also agreed. Once the other customer started to chime in , Mickey started to say , "Oh, here we go again...." That guy literally didn't see anything wrong with what he did. This is ridiculous and needs to be addressed immediately.

The Oceanview shopping center sign is easy to locate and the main entrance is by the sign. Parking is plentiful and the lot clean. The store is pretty small and it's in an older strip. However, it's clean with plenty of natural light. I think most customers can find what they need with a variety of spirits offered. The bourbon area was good size and fully stocked with the truck delivery arriving that morning. I asked the manager Charity about a few hard to find bourbons which they did not have. Since I had the time she did tell me that bourbon was her specialty and pointed out several of her favorites. Her knowledge was great! I left empty handed which does not occur often. However, I liked the store and area. Although it's about 20 minutes from my house I probably will return with excellent customer service.

Their customer service and product knowledge are amazing. I had no idea what the difference was between a barrel whiskey vs. A regular one. My brother wanted a certain type, and I just thought it was a common offering. I learned a lot about how whiskey was aged and what the difference was between the brands on the top and middle shelves other than the prices. HeeHee! The parking lot is huge, the area is well lit, the landscaping is full of flowers right now. You will enjoy the vast amount of variety at the location. The store truck had arrived a few hours earlier and all the boxes with inventory was shelved. Everything was neat and clean, however the bourbon section was not as large as I've seen in other stores. Still a great selection and they were full stocked. This will likely be a store I do not return to due to its proximity from my Virginia Beach home. 3.5 rounding up with great service.

ABC stores are the only retail outlets in Virginia where customers may purchase liquor. This particular location is located in a strip mall next to Food Lion on Godwin Blvd. I am not a big drinker, and especially so when it comes to liquor. I went to ABC to buy some rum for a glaze I was making for Christmas (http://steamykitchen.com/7699-ham-blackberry-rum-glazed.html). My first trip was quick just to pick up the rum, so I decided to stop by again today before I wrote my review. I was surprised to find out that they do not carry beer or wine--just liquor. Since every state has different laws, I didn't realize this about Virginia until today. You have to buy your beer and wine at a grocery store, and then go to ABC to purchase your liquor--at least this one is nearby Food Lion. This ABC store is very clean and organized. It's a medium-sized building but I think you will be able to find what you need there. The staff was extremely professional and courteous--I was impressed. If you need to hit a liquor store in Suffolk -or need lottery tickets- this is your place.
