Definitely not intentional as they deserve every bit of praise. We've been coming here for about eight years and we absolutely love it. The suites feel like your own condo. Private entrances and garage, patio, fireplace, jetted tub, and completely unobstructed views of Snow Canyons cliffs. The property is a private, gated club with a guard who checks you in during your stay. Amenities include a pool, hot tub, spa, gym, yoga, pilates, onsite dining, kitchenette, tennis, pickleball, volleyball, basketball courts, 18-hole golf course, and beautiful walking paths. The entire neighborhood is gorgeous and is impeccably maintained. It's located in Ivins, about eight miles from downtown St. George and just five miles from Snow Canyon State Park. There's also a great grocery store named Harmon's about two miles away, perfect for stocking your fridge. With just over 60 rooms, the resort feels more like a boutique retreat than a commercial hotel. Every visit inspires me to stay off my phone and that's always a good thing. This place has become home away from home and I look forward to every visit. Bonus: returning guests get 20% off.

But most importantly, it's also my daughter's 20th birthday. We decided to get away from the freezing temperatures if Salt Lake City yesterday. With this much planning, you're not gone to get a room without paying through the nose for it. Since I'm cheap, we booked a room here, at the St. George Inn & Suites. We paid $475 for two nights. They're normally $89. This is what $475 got us. Two Queen beds. A 32" LG tv, a fridge, a microwave, teal everywhere outside, and two palm-looking paintings on the wall. I feel like I have stepped into the 70's. I'm not sure what theme these guys are going for. When you go into the bathroom you feel claustrophobic. Not to mention, I've never seen a toilet shaped like that. I shudder to think how old it is. When you sit on the bed, you can feel the springs and you hit the box springs when you sit in the edge of the bed. The room looks run down. Floor plastic molding is coming off the wall, the door is banged up, the paint on the door molding is chipped, and someone took a sign off the door years ago and didn't bother to clean off the sticky residue. You can tell it's been a long time since it is brown now. Check in is at 3pm. We arrived in St. George at 1pm so we called the front desk to ask if we could check in early. They said the room was ready but they would have to charge $25. What??? I'm dreading the night. I'm hoping that I don't get cooties tonight. $489 and they didn't even have maid service. We don't have clean towels in the room. I'm making sure in plan better next time and hope I never end up here again!

This is an experience you won't soon forget, and one that anybody can do! What are you waiting for? Booking our reservations was painless. I made a phone call and spoke with Patty, who gave me a few options of times for our ride. We had a group of three-two adults and a teenager. (On the day of the ride, we we met another group of three that joined us.) She gave me instructions on where to go on the day of our ride, and sent them again via text with GPS coordinates so we could easily meet our guide. Mike, our guide, was fantastic. He was friendly, took some time up front to give us a quick orientation and then asked each of us about our horse riding experience so he could match us up with an appropriate horse. He was patient with us, as some of us had very little experience. The trail itself was not all the way flat, but not so challenging that a novice rider would struggle. There are a few areas where we went up hill and then a few where we went down. Mike advised us on proper posture to make it easier on the horse as we navigated some of that hilly terrain. At one point, he recognized that the teen in the group was getting a little frustrated with his horse. He gave him some instruction and then engaged him in conversation about music-something they had in common. I appreciated that Mike was able to include everyone in the group in some way. He's a good dude. After the ride, we were given some carrots to feed our horses. I loved that part! I think the horses appreciated it too. This may not be an activity that we will do every time we visit St. George, but it will definitely be on that we remember forever and bring along some friends to show them the beauty of Snow Canyon from a different perspective.

Located on St. George Blvd, a main drag, it is a modest two story building, with a small but functional parking lot, though a little challenging to get into from the freeway (probably best to make a U-turn once you pass it). Nothing fancy on the outside, but attractive. The woman in the office was nice enough and we were checked in quickly. Happily, we're had an upstairs room over the office and set back from the street. No elevator but the staircase was easy to negotiate. Our room was nice and clean. We had two queens, which we like when traveling. The bathroom and shower were small but the water was hot and the pressure was good. The bathroom fan worked well. The beds were not super comfortable, but good for one night. The AC was great.
