    My new wig
    Carrie G.

Mary is very sweet & patient with her customers. Her selection is very good. I know everything has doubled in price but I wish it wasn't so expensive. I would purchase more.

Grandma's new wig is a little fluffy from her rocking chair, but she is so happy!

Yesterday was my grandma's 89th birthday, and when I came to visit her in Concord, I asked her if there was anything she wanted to or anyplace she wanted to go. She said she'd been thinking about visiting a wig shop since her hair is now very thin, but the only place she knew about was by appointment only. I looked up local wig shops, and VIP Wigs popped up, so I called and asked if they were open for walk ins, and the owner Mary said to come on by. My grandma's never done anything like this, and her hearing and vision (especially) is impaired, but Mary was very patient and walked us through the process. She spoke nice and loud, and was very hands on at color matching and describing the step by step process of the options she had. Despite my grandma's age, the hair she has is gray and brown. Mary brought two options out that were synthetic and heat tolerant. It costs $5 for a hair stocking to try on wigs, but Grandma tried on 2 without additional cost, and the price of the wigs were outlined very clearly before she ever tried one on. The first was a lot longer than my grandma's ever had, and she wasn't in love with it. The second one was a lot shorter, and very full. My grandma has never had very thick hair, but she liked the style and color a lot, so Mary thinned out the bangs to make it more suitable to Grandma's style. She said that shampooing the wig might help with some of the floof if it was still too full for Grandma's liking, but she also offered to thin it out free of charge if Grandma decided she wanted to reduce the volume. Grandma opted to wait until she got used to her new look, and Mary said it's a standing offer. We got all the required accessories for starting out, and Mary also cut my grandma's natural hair and eyebrows so that it would work with the wig. There was no second guessing after that! I was very impressed by the level of detail and care that VIP Wigs paid to my Grandma. Mary was very accommodating and informative, and my grandma walked out of the store feeling better about her appearance than she has in a long time. I highly recommend them to anyone who has been considering natural or synthetic hair.

From the moment I walked in, I felt listened to and not rushed. The stylist took the time to understand exactly what I was looking for, explained the different options clearly, and helped me choose a wig that suited my face shape and lifestyle. The quality of the hair is excellent...soft, natural-looking, and very easy to maintain. I've worn wigs before, and this one stands out in terms of how comfortable and realistic it looks. I've received so many compliments, and most people don't even realize it's a wig unless I tell them. Every business can't please everyone, but my experience was professional, honest, and well worth it. I would absolutely recommend Perfect Locks to anyone looking for quality hair and knowledgeable service.

The cuticles are misaligned, ends are split, and the hair is impossible to brush to the point where it feels like doll hair. I was only offered 20% off ONE pack, which doesn't begin to fix the problem. For this price and as a longterm client, I expected much better quality and customer service. I cannot recommend this product.

The person who helped me was the front desk clerk, not an experienced fitter. She didn't measure me, which I expected after other bra purchasing experiences where that's the first thing the fitter does. She just asked me what size I wore, but I was unsure because I've lost weight recently, so she brought in a couple sizes for me to try on. I asked her to find a tape measure and measure me for the band width to make sure I got the correct size. She seemed very inexperienced, uncaring and blasé about the whole process. After I tried on the garments I told her which one I chose. She took it, wordlessly left the dressing room and returned to the front desk. When I returned to the front desk she said the store would file a claim with my insurance, but I had to pay up front and hope for reimbursement from my insurance company. The whole experience was cold and impersonal at a time when I and others with my diagnosis are anxious, scared and in need of some compassion. When I returned home, I searched online for the garment I purchased and discovered that Marzel's charged 50% more than the online price. I'm sorry I patronized this place.

The owner is very gracious and patient. She gives you the time you need to browse wigs and then will help you fit the wigs gently, giving plenty of space to get a feel for them. Since the days I've blew a bag at her store were when I was able to try on wigs. And I have seen her scare off some customers by not letting them try on wigs, but I see why she'd hesitate to let 7 teenagers in a pack wander in at once to try a lot of wigs they may not buy.... a gamble though, what if they all spent their allowance to buy one and became customers? (I think her "pay 2 to 5 bucks for wig caps for hygiene reasons" works well, and I've never had an issue with that. Sometimes she'll bend the new rules a bit about 'no wig trying on', I remember I once almost swore from coming back when a rich date I had was told he couldn't try on a 100$ wig, {she didn't know his income, and figured he was just a straight dude playing around and not a fancy actor trying to expand his look seriously,} but he was charming, so next thing you know he was trying them on and balling out. I'm just saying.) But I like her store. I remember the first time I ever came into her store, she was shocked to see how I somehow fit my medium sized box braids under a bob wig like it was nothing. Always fun at her store, I like to come here and get a new wig whenever I want an uplift. She always reminds me that they're not everyday wigs, and little does she know the wig quality holds up amazingly. The colorful wigs are like 29 bucks lowest (plus 3 bucks tax) and the more pricey colorful ones are like 50 bucks. And i turn HEADS, like full on stopped in the street 7 times in a night to get complimented because of how realistic and iconic the wigs here are, high quality and really nice colors! And people think it's my real hair, I like wearing these more than my natural hair colored Outre wigs. I wear them so often, its a blast. So if you want starburst pink Sabrina Carpenter tresses, periwinkle blue swishy bobs, a Smores platinum blonde bob reminiscent of Xtina Aguilera meets Britney Spears, long red Ariel-like flowy siren hair, or anything, come here. Sue is so sweet. I hope if you've had a tricky experience here, you can give her a second chance. Since funny enough, the place used to be a VHS and DVD store named "Alameda Wigs" with maybe 10 wigs in a small corner of the two room sized store FILLED to the brim with blu-rays, and I remember I came in like a year or so ago like "Hello! Is it okay if I try on a wig?", and she was so baffled and shook that someone wanted a wig. Like, amazingly hilariously baffled, as if I was a biblical angel delivering a prophecy that her wig shop should, yknow, sell wigs. I think people just never stopped by before, since it was a DVD shop in 2024 labelled a wig shop, and so it just was a new concept to her to expand into that territory, yknow? And next time I came in a month later, bet your ass all the tapes were gone and it was ALL WIGS and she had a huge smile on her face. And a lot of new customers! Amen! She seems new to selling wigs specifically and just seems to want to have a high quality hygienic reputation, but I promise it's worth it even to gamble on a wig that seems like it'd be a good fit for you. Even my big HUGE head can fit the wigs, and maybe she'll let you try on a wig if you come in consistently and are polite. (And maybe ask to double cap and reassure you're serious.)
