I had an outstanding experience at VIP Repairs, recently. Not only did they quickly and accurately diagnose the problem, but they went further to ensure there weren't any other problems with my battery-powered lawn mower. The initial problem was structural but Mohammad conducted a comprehensive analysis to ensure the mower was cutting correctly, the charger was working properly and the battery was holding a charge (it wasn't). I was so impressed, I brought over my son's gas mower and they fixed it on the spot. I was expecting to pay quite a bit for the repair of both mowers. However, the bill I received, for what they did, left me feeling I should be paying more. It was just an incredible value. Great service from start to finish! At a price that I'm sure no other service place can match. I used Yelp to find the best rated place for my lawnmower and VIP Repairs came out on top of the list. So I took my lawnmower for service here. And in spite of the age of my Toro, they still managed to make it work like new! We tested the mower at the shop before I loaded it on the car...fired up with no issues. And it was so clean...I never knew it had shiny red paint on the body! I actually thought it was brand new! I see why this place has 5-STARS!!! I'd been having trouble with my relatively new lawnmower (for the 2nd time), and decided to look for local repair places. I'd bought my lawnmower from SEARS originally and have it serviced their the first time. And when I had the same issue I decided to take it back, and with a years times from they stopped doing in-house service....at the "Parts & Service" dept.....anyways their loss is VIP Repairs gain. I was calling around several places I'd bookmarked on yelp, get get their hours of business, to tell them the problem, and to try to get a rough repair cost. I was told was a carburetor issue (which is what I thought it might be again) would be $65 for full-service and I'd have my lawnmower back in about 5-7 days. This was the best news I could have heard, especially when at SEARS the last time they needed 4-5 WEEKS. So I brought in my lawnmower the next day, and VIP Repairs is located only a couple of miles from where I work (Down from Watt Ave, and in the same area at 5.11 Tactical). I talked to Kadeem who seemed really cool, told him of the issue, and he told me it would be no problem to take care of, and if anything unusual come up he'd call to let me know. I was in an out in probably less than 30 minutes. And I get a call later on that I missed and it ended up being Kedeem to tell me my lawnmower was FIXED and READY! I dropped it off at 12:30 in the afternoon and it was ready less than 6 hours later. Talk about a fast turn around. I just went back in this afternoon to pick it up, and Kadeem brought it out for me. He mentioned that something was off with the carburetor after the last service, but it was fixed and the lawnmower was given a turn-up. As we closing out my work order, I asking him if the owner had been in the military. Because I notice military plates on the car out front, to which he replied yes. And I told him that was interesting because I was in the Army too. And Kadeem said if he'd known that I would have been given the military discount; well I know for next time, lol. Save you time and money . Looked at the reviews on line and drove 20 minutes from Elk Grove .... Short version as to not write a novel . Was told at the location pay up front Wait 10 days etc . I expressed how I wasn't comfortable with that and how yelp is a powerful tool and started to hand the lady my debit card . When out of left field a younger guy starts in on me in a extra loud voice about yelp and why they charge up front . I stoped him and introduce my self and asked him to lower his voice he said he is not yelling etc the other lady to my shock said it's his nationality. I just have to ask my self when is it ever alright to talk to another person in this manner NO MATTER WHERE YOU COME FROM . Back to the story this same guy who must be some sort of boss " said to me " your going to be a problem I see and don't want to help you !!!!!!!! Wow !!! PS IN THE END THEY MADE UP EXCUSES ABOUT WHY THEY CHARGE UP FRONT . Update my brother sprayed some cleaner in the carburetor and it worked less than 5 minutes . Saved me $50.-$80 look at pictures and video. I see the owner responded back in typical fashion that I would expect . Reference to cartoons in response to a business just lets me know your world and mine are different. And for your saying I am getting in your employee face with my hands " I give you permission to use your security film of me while I was in your place . I needed service on my aging golf cart and searched around for a service shop. I read the good reviews and the bad reviews and ultimately called up VIP and spoke with Farah. Nice on the phone, gave me all the info I needed and I decided to take my cart in. Service took a bit longer than expected because of a back ordered part for my old cart, but she and Mohammed went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. Initially frustrated at the timeline, I ended up being very pleased with their level of customer service and impressed with their desire to retain me as a customer. Ok, my bad, but this review is WAAAAAY long overdue. Please forgive me Farrah & Mohammad!!! =) I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful young couple back at the beginning of June, when I was in a panic to get my ever-failing lawnmower fixed. I had another guy I had been taking it to for a few years, but when his 'repairs' seemed to never fully fix the issue, I had to check out other options. Of course, I turned to my fellow Yelpers to find a good place. I gave VIP a call & spoke to Farrah, the wife & co-owner. I let Farrah know the issues I was having: mower wouldn't start & seemed to be leaking gasoline near/into the air filter. She confirmed the hours listed on Yelp (10a-7p M-F) were accurate, which created a problem for me since the only time I ever had was weekends since I worked out in Roseville 9a-6p--there was close to no chance I would be able to get my mower to them. Farrah was such a sweetheart & understanding my schedule issues, offered to come by my house to take a look & see if they could fix it on the spot. "Really" I thought? "A house call? That would be awesome!" So, we made the arrangements for them to come by my home on a late Friday afternoon, saying they'd stop by on their way to Davis for another obligation. When they arrived, I showed them our fairly new Toro mower. Mohammad was willing to get to it right away, with some assistance from Farrah. I watched them as both worked in my open garage, dismantling & dissecting the mower to see what needed to be done. Mohammad was able to quickly determine what to do to stop the gas leak & while he began to put it all back together, during conversation he heard me mention it wasn't starting. I said I assumed it wasn't starting because of the leak, but what do I know about mowers? NOTHING! So, he began opening it up again to check other stuff out. Long story short, he fixed it. He REALLY fixed it. I was so thankful & so appreciative for them making a house call! Of course, I still wasn't completely sold, but only because of my past experience with my last repair guy.....who would tell me it's fixed but it would stop working after 1 use. Mohammad & Farrah understood my inhibitions, & said I can call if I have any more issues, but they were pretty confident that there wouldn't be. I told them, only time will tell. That said, I was super happy I was able to mow my lawn the next day, as I was beginning to be embarrassed by the reverse mohawk lawn I had been displaying for the past week due to the mower failing mid-mow the Sunday prior. I couldn't stop praising them for fixing it, & doing it in my garage no less! It was also one of the hottest days of the year, so I felt bad that they couldn't cool down w/a glass of water I offered, due to their religious Ramadan obligations that had just begun. But, they were very pleasant & VERY deserving of this review. In fact, my mower is still functioning as it should as of this past weekend. I'm telling you, every time I pull the mower cord, I'm always hesitant that it won't start. But every time since VIP Repairs has fixed it, I haven't had the issue & am quite pleased that I'm able to keep my yards looking nice. If you're looking for a reliable place for your mower repairs, then look no further than VIP. Their family-owned & provide excellent customer service. First and most importantly I found this place from Yelp. So I felt like I'd like to pay it forward and write a review. I went in with my mower that had been sitting for over a year and had been making black smoke the last time I used it sooooo.... I was not expecting the best news. I was originally charged $75 or so for a general Tune up which really seemed like a lot of things that were gonna happen for the money so I was glad to drop the $75 expecting to hear the worst. It took about ten days to hear back and when I heard from the guy who worked on my mower he said that is was full of rust that he had to clean it out and really put a lot of work in to get my service done. As I picked it up he was actually there so we talked and he showed me what my parts had looked like and it does seem like he must have put some major elbow grease into making it happen for the original tune up price. I asked him what the cost would be if I had to replace the parts he spent so much time fixing and he said it would have cost $70 dollars (He probably spent more than $70 of his time going above and beyond on it). He said that he just try's to save customers money where he can. I was almost expecting to pay the extra money and the fact that they do go above and beyond to help their customers is awesome. The people working in there are younger people that are really trying hard and they provide good customer service and go above and beyond!! read more

The owner told me someone would be in all day so I could pick up my lawnmower. When I got there the door was locked and there was a sign that said only open on Saturdays, 11-2. So I went home and called the number. No one answered. Later I got a call from the owner who said they were open all day. When I told her the door was locked when I got there, she said someone had tried to break into the business three times the night before so the employee has to lock the door when he goes to the bathroom and that I should have waited. She also said I should have called from there but when I told her I didn't own a cell phone, she scoffed at me. And since no one answered when I called from home, I still would have left if i had called from the business. She thought it was unreasonable for the employee to put a sign up saying, "Back in 5 minutes." read more

Add me to the list of satisfied customers! I found them via Yelp last season, but never got my mower over to them. I live in Elk Grove, and was just putting off the task, owing to their location. Determined to do so this year, I loaded up my mower and drove it over to VIP. They promised the mower back in 10 days to 2 weeks. After reading other Yelp reviews, I was fairly certain that I would have it back much more quickly, though, given the time of year, I thought it might take that long. I received a call in just under a week, advising me that my mower was ready. My mower is clean, and runs like it did when it was new. It's been a couple of weeks now since my Dyson vacuum was tuned up by these guys. It's ruining like new again. It picks up three times as fast as it used to. Over time, we didn't notice how sluggish it had gotten. For $80, it's we'll worth it. They saved me from having to buy a new vacuum. On the service side is where these guys shine. Place was clean, friendly, and (imho) prices were fair. They're normally close on weekends, but the owner was very accommodating, he offered to meet me at the shop on a Sat. I'm sure I could have gone to a place in Elk Grove to get what I needed done, but it's worth driving the extra 15 minutes to come here for the customer service. I haven't had a chance to pick my lawn mower up yet to see how well it runs (so possibly more updates to come), but I can certainly review this business based on the customer service I've received thus far. I brought my lawn mower here because the place in Elk Grove (Elk Grove Power Equipment or something like that) is an absolute rip off it comes to find out. Being the only business in Elk Grove I guess they can just charge whatever they want, because I had my lawn mower taken there once and just couldn't believe the price. Brought it to VIP and the pricing is just night and day difference. VIP Repairs charges FAIR pricing and offers customer service that just blows the place in Elk Grove out of the water (hence why I decided to make the drive all the way out to Arden area). The staff here is super friendly and I took my lawnmower in on Saturday only to have someone call me the SAME day to let me know it was ready for pick up. My lawnmower was not running when I brought it in so I decided to just go with the full service and when they were done it is now running without any additional parts needed. Now I understand this will not always be the case, but it was nice having some good news for a change. It seems like now days places will just find something they can replace just to increase the average ticket price. So I would highly recommend VIP Repairs. I hope when I pick up my lawnmower today it will run great, but up until this point everyone has been amazing here and for once an establishment that can make a profit without gouging their customers. Several weeks ago, I decided to take apart my old Kitchenaid stand mixer and re-grease it, which I heard was a good thing to do periodically. It's got a Hobart engine, which is apparently good, and worth upkeeping. I forgot, until it was too late, that I have absolutely no mechanical skills and, despite the clear simplicity of the task, quickly turned the whole project into a dog's breakfast of the first water. I patched it back together but had clearly misaligned something, or several somethings. I did a search for "small appliance repair" and stumbled upon VIP Repairs. Despite the fact that their website makes it look like they mostly do stuff like lawn mowers and chainsaws, Mohammed expressed confidence when I called so I decided to take it down there. It took a few days, as he said it would, because they seem to be busy. But he fixed my Kitchenaid, cleaned it up all purdy, put on a new (grounded) cord, and it now runs like a top. On top of all that, he charged me his minimum and was extremely friendly to boot. I like to see enterprising people running small businesses with integrity and cheerfulness. My golf cart would not run. I tried for two days to fix it with no success. Mohammad came out and tested every system and when he couldn't find a problem, he checked the motor and found the brushes had been frozen due to rust. Some repair people wood have just sold me a new motor to make a profit and take the old motor, clean it up to sell. He fixed the problem and after running it for a minute while it was up on a jack he said, the differential sounded like it wasn't getting enough oil so he pulled the inspection plug and found the oil level was very low. He went to his truck, pulled out a bottle of gear oil and filled it to the right level. Saving me a possible large expensive repair bill in the future. Mohammed was not only fast, he was very honorable. I would highly recommend him for repairs. Mohammed is quick, knowledgeable, thorough, honest and reasonable. We also met Fayrah (his wife). Hey Yelp: I live in Sacramento, not San Francisco! Meanwhile, excellent price of $75 for a lawnmower tune-up that included sharpening the blade, oil change, rebuilding the carburetor and other routine checks. My lawnmower had a dull blade and wouldn't continue to run, always cutting off unless I pumped the primer. I considered junking my age 15 years/used 8 years lawnmower; because, a competing shop on Arden Avenue had quoted me a price years before for a tune-up in excess of $100. It took about 10 days instead of the estimated 7, but, totally worth it. I highly recommend this shop; and, I'll be there again in a year or two depending on whether I water the lawn (not). read more

I can't help but question the validity of all these other reviews. Are these real people? Did the owner have his friends post for him? Or perhaps there's 2 VIP Repairs and I was unlucky enough to go the bad one? I needed to have my vacuum repaired and went to VIP repair because of how highly rated they were here on Yelp. Now I wish I had just purchased a new vacuum instead. I had my vacuum dropped off for service on a Thursday and was told it would be ready the following Monday or Tuesday. It was a bit longer than I was hoping for but ok. Tuesday comes and goes, we haven't heard anything so we call on Wednesday to check and apparently my Wal-Mart vacuum needed additional work so it's going to take another day. Seems that there should have been a phone call there to let me know. They promise to call us back by noon the next day. Guess what didn't happen? It's now been a week since my vacuum was dropped off and and a couple days past the expected pick up date and not once during any of this time did we receive a call from them. I called in to express my frustration with the lack of customer service and instead of an apology or a solution I get excuses and told I need to take better care of my vacuum. I thought that was the point of taking it in to be repaired? Bottom line, terrible customer service and whatever "work" they did in all that time, my vacuum still isn't working. In the future I'd save my $40 to avoid them and get a new vacuum instead. read more

I am so glad to find this shop! I have a hand planer with a fussy screw I couldn't get out to change the blade. Mohammad took a look at it right away. Not only did he fix it really fast, he changed both blades and altered the screws so I would be able to use a flathead on them( instead of a hex key)in the future. I just got my planer home, gave it a try, and it works like new! Not only was the service great, he was very friendly and informative. I will be coming here whenever I need help with a tool. I dropped off my blower for repair on April 17th. to repair an issue that they had fixed just two months prior. Anthony was no longer there. The gal couldn't find my history on this item. She made me pay$120 up front for the same work I paid $75 for prior.(it took less than two weeks). It is June 2nd as I write this. I can't even get an update on my item.
