I have asked for a training session for my dog, and one of the staff came to train me and the dog…read more The training and the content was mediocre and as expected was hoping for practical tips to control the dog. And secondly, I have booked for dog walking sessions 3 weeks ago and was informed that they would contact me in Jan 26 first week, but so far no one contacted.

We've talked with Dan, Liam, and Monica mostly and they just love dogs and are really nice people - you can't say anything bad about people who are good to animals. They made me feel very safe with leaving her in their care. We started Roggy, our Great Pyrenees x Maremma here when she was about 4 months. We were looking for people who could help us get the recall down early as GPs are notoriously bad for recall. We wanted a dog we could take to the dog park and trust off-leash. She is 8 months now and has perfect recall. I'm not saying she has good recall, I am saying she has PERFECT recall. I attribute this all to The Leash Team. Especially over the winter where I was working a lot and they were the only ones taking her to the dog park. Basically what happens is they pick your dog up in a van with a bunch of other dogs and they all go to the park. They use whistle training, which we did too, but honestly Roggy doesn't need it anymore. When Roggy started, she was just a baby, so they let her go with the smaller dogs at first. They keep the puppies on a leash so they don't go too far. Now she can go where she wants, but at the start they keep them close. They also have GPS on their collars so if they do get lost, they can easily be found! I'll be using this service for the long term! I think the costs are reasonable. It's about $35 for a walk, but they go for like 2 hours sometimes longer. I think that's pretty good for an afternoon at the dog park! They also offer boarding - but it's actually boarding at their house. Dan, the owner, will take your dog to his house and look after them. I like that so much more than putting her in a kennel. We booked her a little vacation at their house while we get married. I'm sure she will have fun!

My family employed Melissa for nearly two years. Initially we were very satisfied with her…read moreservices, she asked many questions about our dog and seemed to interact well with him on first meeting. She allowed for last minute bookings too which was helpful with our hectic schedule. Once when our dog had diarrhea in his kennel she cleaned it up and placed the soiled blankets outside so they wouldnt stink up the house which was very thoughtful. After nearly a year I began having suspicions she wasnt coming when she said, as I noticed the leash we left out was remaining untouched some days we booked walks. Sometimes I would ask her how the walk went that day and she just wouldnt reply, but I didnt want to call her out and risk appearing rude. I transferred her bulk sums on money every few months to use for walks, and she never alerted me to anything like missing a walk/that i had an extra walk paid for that I hadnt used. The dog started to seem pent up some days when he was supposed to have gone on a walk. Multiple red flags culminated in us buying a security camera to notice she missed two walks in a row. Upon confronting her she admitted she forgot to put that month's walks in her calendar but that she'd never missed a walk before this. Not believing her, and trust being broken, I professionally dismissed her services and asked for our money back. It took multiple attempts to followup as she stopped replying to my texts after, and she eventually said she needed a few weeks to return the money (also invoking the cancellation policy and keeping two weeks of pay, despite her being in the wrong.) Once those weeks passed I had to again contact her multiple times before finally having money transferred back to me (partially.) Later I followed up with out neighbours about the incident and was informed that though they often saw Melissa entering our house, they never saw her leave the house with our dog. I know she took the dog out at least sometimes, but based on another review stating Melissa attended their house but did not take the dogs on a walk, I assume this was sometimes the case with us as well. Melissa seems like a nice person, but is not running an organized or professional business. Her sudden lack of contact when asked for money back was disheartening. When it comes to the care of someone's animals, the utmost care and attention needs to be used. Knowing now that our dog was locked in his kennel for sometimes 10+ hours a day without getting the break/exercise he needed breaks my heart. I wish we had trusted our gut from the beginning.

I had the displeasure of contracting Duck and Dog for their dog walking services. Three things lead…read moreto me cancelling her services, and I wanted to warn others that Melissa is running a bad business. a) I made my first email transfer of funds for 6 dog walks. Was unable to get a hold of Melissa for the next ~5 days. I texted multiple times and left voice messages. I was quite worried at that time the business was a front for scam. Thankfully I did hear from her, but very poor communication with clients! b) She tried to charge me for walks that had already been paid for. At this point, I had paid for 9 walks, and she was carrying out the ninth walk, but contacted me asking for additional payment for that walk. When I replied with photo evidence of the walk calendar (I had her initial every time she came), indicating I had paid for the walk, she did not reply. Hopefully it was a simple mistake, which would indicate bad record keeping, but at worse it could have been a purposeful attempt to defraud me - which may have worked if I hadn't myself implemented the calendar record keeping. c) At that point I decided I did not think the way she interacted with me as a client was professional - from poor communication to poor record keeping. It led me to believe I was allowing access to my house and belongings to someone not completely trustworthy (despite her claim of being bonded and insured). I asked her to return my house keys. I was unable to get a hold of her again, leaving multiple messages, texts and emails trying to make some arrangements for the return of my keys. On two occasions she said she would drop them off, and subsequently didn't, with no communication about why or what other arrangements she would make. It took a week of doggedly pursuing her to receive my keys back. I should not have to hound a business owner for the return of my house keys. Unfortunately things went from bad to worse with Melissa, and I'm suggesting dog owners steer clear of Duck and Dog.

My experience with Westbrook Vet Clinic started out great - initially…read more Staff was really friendly and they were all excited about her, as they had never seen her breed before; a Black Russian Terrier. I then booked an appt. for her required second set of shots. (note: I spent quite awhile at that first visit, as what dog lover doesn't love to talk about their dog? LOL. I felt they were a bit 'heavy handed' about the insurance. But take it or leave it right? As it turned out - to get insurance for my dog; with a $250. deductible it would have cost me ONLY $500. plus per month. I just about fell on the floor. I was stunned that anyone could say that with a straight face. Seriously?!?! Obscenely ridiculous. I don't know anyone - with or without tons of money who would EVER consider paying such extortion-like prices.) However, the part that left me VERY UNIMPRESSED was that when I went in for my appt. (you know; pre-booked for that specific service?) The vet was friendly and examined her in a small exam room. He gave her the kennel cough nasal dosing and then proceeded to tell me that they 'were out' of vaccines. Sooooo NOT COOL!! But stuff happens and although I wasn't thrilled to have to return again; it was not the end of the world. Right? So, I return when the vaccines 'came in' and I was stunned to have a 'woman from the front counter' (what were her credentials? was she a vet tech? She didn't clarify anything) She just took her leash from me and promptly WALKED AWAY WITH MY DOG (not inviting me, the owner to follow or otherwise) she went into one of the exam rooms and passed thru the rear door (closing it behind her) I, of course followed, thinking 'what the heck are you doing lady?!?!' I open the rear door to their back room - where I said "Um, I want to be WITH my dog and SEE the vaccination" and there she was giving her the injection! Of course she may well have been a trained vet assistant but I'll never know! She was quite arrogant about the whole thing and acted like I was making a big deal out of nothing. I PAID for a physical exam and expected the VET to give her the injection. (I can go to G & E Pharmacy and obtain my own vaccinations for about $9 bucks. *** I have owned dogs forever and done this countless times in the past; when my pets were in great physical condition (you cannot do rabies yourself, but I had never taken any of my dogs out in the bush or forested areas so I never had rabies shots done) Needless to say, the 'in-stock' preparedness was a big FAIL but the 'woman-at-the-counter-walking-away-with-my-dog' (without explanation) was ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE. I have dealt with vet techs and have no problem. But in this case who knows what her training was? The ONLY reason I go to a vet is for 'THE VET'!!!! Never again. - TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR ANYONE - VERY POOR COMMUNICATION SKILLS They blew it, period.
