My friend and I just got our nails done and we are both extremely disappointed. The nails she received are meant to be baby blue, however, they are highly see-through and are ombre, blue and purple. There is also glue on top of my hand and all over my fingers. Her hands look disgusting, we will not be coming back. We expected great quality nails due to the high ratings on yelp but that was not the case. Moving here from Denver, I was worried I wouldn't have a ton of options. But I love this salon. Paige and Ethan are so fantastic. I just soaked my acrylic nails off after 10 weeks of consistent wear and there are NO dents or damage to my own nails. They are also so considerate and really take the time to get a good grasp of what I'm looking for in shape, color, etc. An excellent experience all around. I'm so glad I found them! Their prices are also very reasonable and they've adhered to all guidelines and made me feel quite comfortable coming in even during covid with a small babe! Regular manicure and pedicure didn't last even a week. The man that did my pedicure cut my toenails too short and they were painful for a couple days. I put neosporin ointment on with bandaids over my toes to make sure they did not get infected. read more

I love Quan he is great with nails and is very creative. He uses medical grade products also. I have been going to VIP for 9 mo and have a standing appointment every two weeks. I love Quan however...... I give VIP three stars maybe two because the owner Paige(Quans sister) is a bully to Quan and is very unprofessional, it's a shame. I also purchased a gift card for one of my employees for her graduation gift. I had it for two weeks and the day of graduation I decided to clean my car and accidentally threw it away!!!!! I realized this at the graduation party, after agonizing over my stupidity I decided not to leave the party to go dumpster diving because I was positive Paige would honor the gift certificate. Well that wasn't the case. Paige said she would not help me out and she didn't keep track, I asked her twice. I didn't want to cause a scene(Paige was with a client) so I left. I own a very popular hair salon in town and would never treat a guest who is loyal with reoccurring appointments or any one that way. I would honor the gift certificate. I was visiting from out of town and wanted nails done with my friend. I've had a thousand pedicures in my life and this was by far the worst. The salon was fine however my technician was terrible. Unfortunately I don't have his name. My friends pedicure started before mine however I was done before her. He rushed though clipping cuticles and nails. Then took 20 minutes rubbing the top of my shins for the leg "massage" portion. I should have asked him WTH. He then followed with the color. And I was done in less than 30 minutes. They charge $27 for basic pedicure maybe he was pacing himself for $1 per minute. While my nails were drying, he was sitting in corner on his phone, so he had nowhere to go, why the rush, dude!? read more

I've been here for about 10 minutes and I can tell you already it's 5 stars. I was greeted and seated immediately, my first time here but with appointment. This massage chair is amazing. Don't forget to recline. And then the young lady comes over and offers me a drink. I chose and she brought me a goes of wine. Then a menu for which scrub scent I'd prefer. Lavender. I like that there is a menu for pedicures as to services and price. I like the option for getting more intense pedi. I'll have to update how it all turns out. 10 min later........ They could use a little more ventilation. -1/2 star. Seriously, maybe it's just the Deluxe, but this is a "I'll Have What She's Having" kind of place. So sorry that in order to post this review I am required to give this place 1 star. Just left VIP Nails in Durango to attend to a burn on my friend's foot after she dipped it in (obviously) untested water. Still assessing the burn to determine if we need to go to Mercy Medical Center ER. Not only was the water so dangerously hot that it burned her foot but the staff stared blankly at her, not having a clue what to do. Not even an "I am so sorry...what can I do to help?" When we asked for a cool water towel, we were met with blank stares. Finally one of our party yelled, "Does anyone here speak English?!?" & one gentleman said "I do. What do you need?" He was the one who brought the cool towel. After cooling the burn for a few minutes, we opted to leave so that we could get her home & assess the burn to determine if an ED doctor needed to assess the burn. As we left, the only people who seemed concerned were the other clients...asking if we were okay & if there was anything they could do. No apologies, no offers to help, just blank stares. We are currently allowing the skin to cool down & waiting to see if blisters appear. And we are writing this review so that hopefully this will never happen to anyone else. As a medical professional, I can say that if this happened to a personal with a compromised vascular system that this one burn could lead to a possible amputation. Why was the water never tested before the client was told to put her foot in? Why did no one spring into action the moment the burn occurred? So many whys. The one thing "I know for sure"...We will never be back & cannot recommend this place for any service. read more

I am so angry I am sitting in the car writing this review. I dropped by for a walk in this morning. I was immediately greeted by a woman yelling at me rudely "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" I was taken aback but told her I wanted a pedicure. She said she only had one for 1:30. I just took it and brushed it off. I came for my pedicure and I had to wait awhile even though I had an appointment. I was sat down by a bald man and he was doing my nails. The entire time he was rough with me, it hurt. And I started to cry because of how rough he was being with me. He never spoke to me or looked at me once since I had gotten here, and didn't notice I was crying. He hurt me by being so aggressive. At one point ripping out my nail and I said "OW!" And he didn't even budge. As soon as he finished, he put my shoes on and pointed to the door. The single worst experience I have ever had. My toes are not even dry. He didn't even let them dry before putting on the second coat either. I had liked this place before. I was done by a man with long hair, he was nice and talked to me. I live in Texas and needed a nail salon in Durango when I visit my family. I am very particular and picky when it comes to my nails. My mom and I would drive to Farmington where there are decent salons, but I was never really happy with them. I decided to give VIP a try and made an appointment. I was placed with Young, and he did a fantastic job! I got a full set with gel polish, and he made the acrylics look like my natural nails, and the polish looks great! He also made the appointment very fun with his funny personality. I highly recommend making an appointment a few days before hand as they were very busy. I got a bad gel manicure here a few months ago and went back the next day to have it removed. The guy who removed them used an e-file instead of soaking them, and he pretty much filed off all of my actual nail. It's been a few months and they're not grown all the way out yet but the same was pretty bad. My nails bled a bit afterward and they've just been extremely weak and bendy since I came here. If you have gel removed, ask to have them soaked off so that your nails don't get super damaged. I will say, the guy who removed them did t charge me since the gel was so bad from the previous night and they were nice about it. I'm just upset that my nails got so badly damaged in the process and maybe should have tried to remove the gel at home. read more

Came in as a walk-in for a basic pedicure, gel manicure and eyebrow wax. They were busier than I thought they'd be on a Thursday mid afternoon(good sign) so luckily they were able to fit me in for everything. They have matching colors in gel and regular polish which was great since I don't do gel on my toes so it was nice to be able to match. The pedicure the leg/foot massage was really nice and my nails look perfect. I also got my eyebrows waxed and am very impressed at how good they look. It is hard finding a great nail salon that is affordable. I had hoped that this would be the one for me. I arrived and it was packed. I thought this was a good sign. It was so packed that it was really hard to move around and get to and from my seat where I got my pedi. The pedi itself was probably the worst I had. He is quite a perfectionist, and my nails reflect that!! I feel that the price was what I'd have paid with any of my favorite salons in California or Nevada. Not 5 stars because it did take a lot longer than expected, but it was really not his fault. My nails were a mess and there was some confusion with names when I arrived so I had to wait almost 20 minutes. Overall excellent experience and will use Young again when I return to Durango. It is never fun when you get the feeling you just don't matter.No interduction from tecnition , no offer of water and no thank you for a $10 tip on a basic Pedicure / maicure. I came with my 10 year old grandaughter who had a very nice gentleman do her pedi /manicure and seemed truely interested in doing a good job... My technician literally may have said 5 words to me. My pedicure was painful as she clipped my nail bed too short.I can see the white nail bed under the polish. My manicure took her 10 minutes if that.My hands were in between nail growth .So asked her to clip them even and file. She put one coat of clear on my nails then pointed to where I could dry them..She made no effort to massage my hands, avoiding my fingers altogether. I figured she didnt want to have to take the lotion off before she polish my nails and could save her time. .What a disappointment.I live here and wont be back.Would pay more in a heart beat to be treated nicely.I'm hoping this person was new and will figure it is nice to smile and maybe even say hello and thank you.. read more

My Mom and I received a gift card so that we had special mom and daughter spa time together. We had an appointment for deluxe pedicures. We sat next to each other and the guy (sorry I did not get his name) that did my pedicure got right to work. It was a wonderful experience for me. On the other hand, the lady that did my mom's pedicure was at the front desk and didn't tend to my mom until I was already 10 minutes into my pedicure. Once she finally got started on my mom's pedicure, she was distracted and on the phone pretty much the entire time. When it came time for the calf massage, she only had one hand available, since the other was on the phone. She said my mom's toenails already looked good, so didn't trim them nor did she smooth the ridges. The polish was also sloppy for a professional job. Mom got home to find chunks of wax still on her calf and heel. This was a horrible experience, a waste of an expensive gift card, and a disappointing way to have quality mother/daughter time. I'm sure VIP Nails does just fine for the average customer who does not speak up and cause "waves", but beware if you do! I have very short nail beds, so I like to get a sheer colored acrylic overlay just to make my hands appear groomed and neat. Just a simple acrylic overlay over short natural nails. That's it. Some salons do not offer colored acrylic, so I called ahead to make sure VIP Nails does. They said they do, so it sounded as if all was well. When I arrived for my fill, which I expected to run $20-25, I had to repeatedly ask for this type of overlay because the man at the front desk, who I'm presuming is the owner, kept pushing for gel nails. When they finally did acquiesce, I was led to a huge basket of acrylic powders and told to pick one even though they had no samples prepared and it's impossible to tell from looking at the container. At one point my stylist Dan told me that he was going to show me a sample of EVERY SINGLE COLOR of the powders on a paper towel and actually began to do so, even though I told him from the beginning all I wanted was a sheer, sparkly pink or peach. I was mortified! Since he had prepped my nails by this time, I gave in and allowed him to use the basic acrylic color he had pushed from the start. I will admit he did do a good job. However, the final straw was when it was time to pay. Mind you, all I needed was a fill. The man at the front desk told me it would be $33! When I questioned this, he interrupted me and said it again, LOUDER! This is the price they have posted for a full set of acrylic tips, not for a simple acrylic overlay ($30) and certainly not for a fill! The expression on his face said it all. I had caused waves, and he was charging me for doing so. I'm giving two stars for the quality of Dan's work, but I will not give VIP Nails my business again. I made an appointment early in the week because we knew we were going to be in the area for the weekend. I entered the facility and waited 10 min before I was greeted or helped. My nail tech started my pedicure then walked away and while still gloved up helped another customer check out, swiped her card and used the pin pad with the same gloves, he came back and tried to continue my pedi with the same gloves, I kindly asked to change his gloves and gave me a look like I was crazy. He didn't ask what type of pedicure I wanted, and he didn't offer me a beverage like the other customers were being offered. The place was dirty and dusty. Terrible experience. I recently had a manicure and pedicure with VIP nails and my 81 year old mother had a pedicure (we had sugar scrub pedis). I was so impressed with the service. Great massages and attention to detail. The technician for my mom pointed out the color and odor of my mom's nails/feet and that we should see a doctor, in case there might be a problem. They also suggested she come more frequently to avoid the ingrown nails that were trimmed with the pedicure. I was so glad that he took the time to let me know something that could affect my mom's health and comfort. SO appreciated!!! Professionals to say the least!!! read more

Had this happen to me a few other times...and no one called to say she was out - which is why I stopped going there. Had someone else do my manicure/pedicure...worst job ever :-( Just didn't seem like he cared...and rushed thru the procedure. Disappointing...I was really looking forward to a nice relaxing time. At checkout - they forgot to "use" my gift certificate and charged me an extra $30 which I wouldn't have known about if I hadn't asked for my receipt... :-( No one in the shop was able to void the transaction and they were not very accommodating about straightening the issue out. I have been going here for over 10 years, I have never had a bad experience until today! I couldn't believe how long it took for a pedicure and a gel manicure. I had made the appointment to include an eyebrow wax and I didn't even get that done, because they were too busy. I am fed up with the wait in there for anything and my gel manicure was less than par. If you don't make an appointment with the "right" people like Paige or Quan, they you get a less than stellar pedicure or manicure.
