Emma Dake is my gal. I'm a bit older with aging hair, so it's proven difficult to get just right…read more But Emma helped me start growing it out again. I wanted even more length, asked her to leave it as long as possible but to shape it up. She proceeded to elegantly raise her scissors... and just so, cut each section 1/4 inch. Her performance alone was extraordinary, like a cross between an angel and a goddess, slowly trimming the beast with such offhand beauty. Totally focused on the task, her movements were almost dance-like. When she was done, I swear she made my hair look LONGER than when I came in. Once you've had the best, just leave the rest!

I was able to book an appt. on line and Nicole sent an acknowledgement and directions. The salon was easy to find and had parking right in front. Nicole and her dog, Rosy greeted me with a warm welcome. It is clean and quiet, which I like. She made observations and recommendations about my hair and listened to what I wanted done. Since I have naturally curly hair, but have colored it for years, it has lost its curl and healthy shine. So a part of the cut and style I requested is to help bring back my curls. She did this and more! As an added bonus Nicole is friendly, open-minded, funny, intuitive, and is very easy to talk to...using an analogy, she is like wearing pair of your favorite shoes. She makes you feel good from start to finish. I didn't want to leave, and am looking forward to my next appointment! For these reasons, I recommend Nicole whether you are coming to town for a visit and need a trim or fresh style, or you live here and want a good hairdresser without the attitude and pretense that so called high-end salons give you.

She got it close, so very close. If I was to be in CO longer, or if I ever visit and need a haircut, I will definitely try to get an appt with Ellie's Place. It usually takes a few cuts to really get a feel for my type of hair (thick and coarse and bleached). Then, on a previous visit, she repaired a very bad cut from a different vendor there in town. I think I've decided that most women wear their hair long in Durango, so cute short cuts are not very common. Ellie did a wonderful job evening up the disaster I was left with, and I'm forever thankful for that! See you next time Ellie!

I went in for a Brazilian, under arms, and half leg, I was in and out in 40 minutes. While I appreciate and love a speedy service, everything felt a little sloppy. My Brazilian has lots of hairs left in very obvious spots. It seems like the back strip wasn't done at all. And I've been getting this done long enough that my skin is use to it.
