Went to this store, as my youngest daughter is a newly minted vinyl record collector. She was not disappointed! Great selection and the clerk was so very helpful and kind. He even gave her three stickers on her way out. He cleaned the records and said that they could be returned if they don't play or if they are scratched. We ended up with two albums and will definitely be back! read more

Love this place! Came here for the 1st time last week as we are brand new to the record world. Great selection and awesome vibes! You can tell they know their stuff and the service is great! Paul was extremely friendly & helpful and we bought 3 records. After arriving home we noticed that on of the records had damage on the packaging, and after pulling out the record there was a small crack. I called and left a message after hours and the next day they apologized and made it right with no questions asked. The words were " we want you to have a great experience here" and we definitely did! The true definition of a good business is how they handle issues, and they nailed it! A really cool record shop with an eclectic selection. First thing I noticed walking in the was the friendly staff. Two guys were talking with other customers, and not the usual CS banter. These guys were really engaged in some fun discussions about artists, presses, and recommendations. There was a lot packed into a small store. One staff member (maybe the owner) told me about a box of collector items they keep behind the counter along with a few boxes of hard to find 7s. He was nice enough to leave them out for me to dig through. I probably could (should) have bought 2-3 records but bought just one which was one I'd never seen in the wild. It was priced at $60 but the other staff member at the register offered me $5 off. I'm never one to decline a discount. Incredibly cool and unexpected gesture. It's always a bonus when a shop has free parking and since VS is in a strip mall, free spots abounded. I'll be sure to add VS to my must go to list the next time I'm in OC. read more

See also: Hunter S. Thompson. I could try to explain where this place is located. The only way to find it is to go over The Edge though. This store is found only in the beating heart of a man known as DRAK. I was footling, digging, and rooting around in Vinyl Solution. DRAK asked me a question or two about records. We started to talk music/films. Somewhere in the conversation DRAK mentioned the film BLUE VELVET. Then the whole day tilted quite heavily. I happen to know a detail or two about Blue Velvet. So did DRAK. The conversation lasted for an hour plus and culminated in both of us raving about PABST BLUE RIBBON. Apparently, there was a moment in DRAK's life where he only had one or two VHS films to watch. He told me he played Blue Velvet until the tape became unusable. (The song "Blue Velvet" by Bobby Vinton is worth a spin too, obviously.) Towards the end of DRAK's talk on Blue Velvet he mentioned a film called BARFLY! This reference made the whole day go absolutely sideways. DRAK and I talked Bukowski, Alice Cooper, The Sex Pistols, The Fall, The Big Lebowski, Richard Pryor, Whitney Houston, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, and The Egyptian Lover for probably about 90 minutes. DRAK is a man possessed of much conversation, and yesterday was the day he met a man who can gab a tad about the arts himself. DRAK is a practiced DJ too. Plays his records as well as he knows them. He has a show where he expounds or explains the details or history surrounding each track before spinning. What is more: DRAK has never ever dropped the same track twice. So asking him for a vinyl solution after a slow workday is probably a very, very wise idea. I ended up leaving the vinyl solution with quite the haul. My favorite find was probably a 7" of Kenny Rogers and The First Edition - Just Dropped In. I paid a quarter for it. The prices alone are worth the trip here. DRAK's customer service is just the icing on the frosting on the cake. read more

First time in this store. I could have spent hours in there. Awesome selection, especially in classic rock. It's all there! Service by Kevin was great and he was fun to chat with. Out of the three other record stores I checked out recently, this appears to be the smallest one. It's not limited to any specific genre of music but I did find lot of bands I used to listen to in the 80s. Price seemed fair on most items although there were some that were in the $30 range for classic Van Halen and Judas Priest albums. I'm kind of new to vinyl shopping so I'm not sure how those prices compare to other places that carry similar titles in similar conditions. Because this place carries mostly used items, it will be a hit or a miss depending on when you come here. I did see several albums I like for just $5 so it's four stars for now. On my first visit I got an album by The Cars and Pat Benatar, each for $5. read more

I still can't fully get over the name of this record store. On one hand I appreciate their dedication to keeping vinyl alive and a fantastic selection of Rock, punk and metal T-shirts, but on the other hand, the Germanic font and colors of the sign out front hint at white nationalist aesthetics. Upon entering we were greeted immediately and throughout the visit felt at ease and detected no bad vibes. Nor, I am happy to declare, was any overt or even covert literature masking intolerance to be seen. Perhaps the pun in the name is an unfortunate play on words? Prices for older, collectable early pressings ranged from $20-40 on average, but as high as $60-80 for less common titles (e.g. Slayer's "South of Heaven" from 1988 with original shrink wrap and hype sticker). Fortunately, I secured my copy years ago before the trend increased prices ten-fold. They have some vintage punk and hardcore/crossover records too. The only bummer was an old copy of the Ramones' "Rocket to Russia", that while reasonably priced at $20, also had a sharpie penned note stating there was "surface noise". That's the kiss of death for this collector and I really appreciated the transparency. I did find a few jazz and blues titles but otherwise practice the patience-to-frequency ratio that the hobby demands. The clerk was friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. Yes, I'd come back to see if anything worthwhile drifted in between visits. However, I'd place it in a loop of record stores rather than a sole destination. read more

My last two interactions in this store have left me regretting visiting this record store. Previously, I had been told that they would only take $10 of the cash I had, despite it all being perfectly legal tender, and today, a staff member attempted to remove my belongings from my hands as I was peacefully flipping through records, then had the nerve to say "I'm not trying to steal your stuff." as I told him I would rather just leave (because I don't appreciate my belongings being touched by strangers.) There are better record stores with friendlier staff (who are always more than happy when I come up to the counter and pay for a record), and there are record stores with much better selections. Save yourself a headache and shop elsewhere. I much prefer online resellers compared to this place, especially when they treat their customers this way. read more

I found this store to be very disappointing. The quality of the records on average was at best, VG with most carrying $20-$25 prices. I saw many records with higher prices that didn't seem justified. Overall, I would say the stock is "tired". With so many other shops in the area I would not make the trip back. read more

Everything a record shop should be! Lots of used gems, plenty to dig through, then a ton of $0.99 stuff that is not completely shot. Collection is slanted toward rock/punk/metal but that's also good news for jazz and blues fans as the section has lots of beautiful original pressings. I found some old school hardcore, tango, lounge, ska/punk, 80s and jazz, all in one shop - perfect! The owner Drac and staff are super friendly. They even went so far as to clean the dust of one of my $1 gems (the Les Paul + Mary Ford) and at home it plays so sweet, hardly even a single tick! Not the place to go for brand new records but if you want to walk out with something unique for your collection and support a store that's been around for 30 years - this is the spot. Stopped in here last night on a whim, spent a few hours looking around and talking to the owner. What a great experience it was! If you're a record shopper, you know the typical store experience. There's no one there, or just a few, the owner's behind the counter busily doing whatever, totally detached from their customers and the last thing they want is to actually talk to, or interact with the very people who provide their income. This place is completely the opposite. I don't remember the owners name, but he was very helpful and totally and completely in love with music, records, and the whole enchilada. Easy to talk to, didn't look down his nose at you, etc. This is what you should expect when you actually go in to a store to buy a record, rather than click a few keystrokes and wait for it. PLEASE DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO KEEP THESE GUYS IN BUSINESS!! THEY'VE DEDICATED THEIR LIVES TO THIS, THE LEAST WE CAN DO IS SUPPORT THEM!! read more

I recently started my vinyl collection, and I wandered my way into this place with the help of Yelp. Wow! What a find. What I liked about this place: 1. They have quite a fun collection off pop and rock music. LOTS of classic rock stuff for anyone who is a fan. 2. Quinn, the young man who was manning the store was a genuine guy, which I can't say is the case for most of these places. They're either snobbish (because I'm an old lady who isn't going to buy a lot of the expensive records, or even the "hip" ones) or superficial (just there to sell me something). Quinn was neither. He was genuinely helpful, professional and nice. I was especially appreciative of Quinn because his other buddy wasn't so great and they're about the same age (19-21??). More on that later. 3. I didn't think their prices were outrageous. I wouldn't pay that much for certain albums, but I'm a cheapskate. And I still managed to find things I really wanted! 4. They let you hear anything you want before buying. Quinn set me up with a turntable in the back (OMG, what a great setup they have - I'm super envious of their speakers!!!), and I listened to all 10 vinyls I bought, plus two I decided not to get after listening. That really sold me as a newbie in this whole vinyl scene. It was so great to see what I'm going to get before I got it. What I didn't care about this place: 5. I don't know who was the guy that Quinn was working with, but his language was FILTHY. He said some stuff that was borderline racist (against Asians, of all people - I'm Asian-American). I don't know if he was just a friend hanging out or he was an employee, but his behavior and language was disgusting. He talked about drugs, homeless people (used very degrading language for this demographic), hookers... it was just....I'm just really glad my kids weren't with me. I get the fact that that's how some young people talk. But I don't think it's appropriate in a professional setting (he seemed to be an employee since he was sitting with Quinn behind the counter. Quinn, on the other hand, never returned the banter and conversation in a vulgar form, though his peer was straight out of some 90s punk movie. In a way, that made me like Quinn even more. 6. Wow, this place was NOT easy to find. I really wish I took a picture of what the entire shopping center looked like so people can find it better from Yelp but my phone died. I will do that the next time I go in. Despite #5, I will definitely come back to this place to look through the $1 bins and see what else they have! I have had a few visits where I was about to drop some pretty coin on a stack of vinyl ans then hear from the register "want to hear something awesome?" ... then hear a track from some band I have never heard of that is so awesome that I am compelled to get that album and spend more THAT DAY. read more

Came here on the hunt for some Bad Religion vinyls - and the owner of this shop was a super rad dude. He knows his punk and was a blast to talk to, we spent some time taking about old shows and I appreciated his time and history lessons on some of my favorite bands. You don't get customer service like that online, just saying. Worth every penny. I'll definitely be coming back here to complete my collection, and to support my local vinyl shop. read more

This place is right next to my work. I was just taking a walk on my break during this corona Quarantine, and saw this place a couple doors down. Nice and cozy amazing selection and a very nice man behind the desk. It's not just records but also CDs and tapes and pins and badges. I picked up a sealed original press copy of prince 1999, limp Bizkit's first album on CD, tales of the topographical ocean on vinyl by Yes, and my favorite, special beat service by the English beat on vinyl. I recommend it to all in the area looking to get some good black licorice! read more
