Bookmarked for future trips near Malibu! Stopped in for lunch and ordered the wings and the Wagyu double burger, and both were outstanding. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, while the wings were equally satisfying and crispy (they were able to make me some with no sauce). It was exactly the kind of meal I was hoping for after a full day at the beach and on the road. The location has plenty of parking, which is always a plus in this area, and there is a nice outdoor dining space in front where you can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air while you eat. What really stood out was the customer service. One of the employees working near the deli area, I didn't catch his name, but I remember his distinctive earring and tattoos, provided exceptional service. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care that customers had a great experience. The entire store was clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. Even the restrooms were spotless, which says a lot about how well the business is managed. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. 3.5 on 5 Low quality grocery items. Burnt coffee. Bottom of the barrel selection at Erewhon prices. Imagine a Whole Foods and Walmart had a baby, a not so thriving baby. Now imagine it costs twice as much as Whole Foods. Boom. The only reason why it's 3.5 on 5 is the exceptional customer service. Really really nice and down to earth staff. You'd only go there if you are a tourist or a local who doesn't want to drive to a decent grocery store. Everything is mediocre. Ingredients are not clean. There's a lot of variety, from cut fruits to breakfast burritos, baguettes to bagels, sandwiches to poke. Many of the wraps and sandwiches looked sad and dry. $12 for cut papayas and $19 for small cut mixed fruits (if you are thinking organic, nada conventional). It's still decent to pickup overpriced staples in a rush, convenience, but not for stocking up your kitchen. Will we be back, probably, since any other store in western Malibu is a minimum half hour commute. read more

Given the location and reviews, I expected Vintage Grocers to be fancifully luxurious and stock full of artisanal and locally sourced goods. Sadly, it is nothing more than a very expensive Ralph's with less selection. I was camping nearby and was hoping to pick up some good bread or cheese, but alas, Vintage is a little lacking in these departments. The most interesting thing Vintage Grocers offered was a cold bar (hot bar) dedicated to sushi rolls. I guess that's pretty fun though not that practical. Sandwiches look good. TASTY BREAKFAST BURRITO STOP w/ a BREAKFAST BUFFET! Yes, you heard that correctly! Vintage Grocers has incredible breakfast burritos (all-meat, veggie). The store also has a breakfast buffet with waffles, eggs, sausage, and SO much more. These folks up in Malibu have it GOOD lolol. Vintage Grocers is a trendy market with essential grocery items like milk, bakery items, etc. I even spotted a COFEE BAR INSIDE called Swaggy P's. The dude at the register told us we could pay for burritos at his coffee bar register but all other items (breakfast buffet, etc.) need to be checked out at the main registers located at the front of the store. He was the friendliest of the store's crew. Everyone else was a bit shifty and a little stuck-up. The store no longer allows customers to use the restrooms, we tried to use them but alas it wasn't meant to be and I was kind of disappointed. Quality worse than Vons at Erewhon prices. Love that this is a local business and i wish i could support it, but the quality just sucks. At least Erewhon puts soul into their overpriced food. Vintage is bland, boring, low quality. What annoyed me most today is the taco section. The picture they had for taco looked completely different than what the guy made for me. The picture showed an obviously grilled tortilla, with charred chicken, melted cheese, grilled onion, etc. The taco that was made was an ungrilled tortilla, wet chicken from a bucket, unmelted grated cheese -- I mean it basically felt like he spooned a salad onto a tortilla. It was a completely different taco than what was pictured, and that wet chicken was already soaking through the tortilla by the time he gave it to me. I used to think Vintage was probably trying their best and had good intentions, but just had bland taste. This showed me that Vintage actually has bad intentions, showing a completely different product than what is sold -- $20 trio of tacos by the way. Nice grocery store in an upscale shopping area next to Christie's and Malibu brewing Company. I enjoyed eating from the hot bar; they also have a poke bar. The steak and chicken were a little tough likely overcooked, but I enjoyed the veggies and the ziti. They have a nice seating area outside where you can bring your dog. Groceries a bit on the expensive side, but well worth the nice clean interior service and the shopping experience and the location most of all. Very disappointed. Bought a pre cut mixed fruit for my kid from their grab n go, found mold all over the raspberries and she accidentally ate one. They offered for me to trade it, no refund, only for me to discover some of the fruit had been sitting there for over 5 days. The date prepared stickers were from days ago, with nothing being freshly packed that day. If you are going to compete with Erewhon, this is unacceptable. I live nearby and have been coming here for years. Never buying the fruit again! Sad, never had that happen in 10 years until now. read more

My favorite place to eat in Malibu? I always find myself at Vintage Market. I usually see what's at the hot bar. Sometimes I will pickup a breakfast burrito. Most of the time, I am in the mood for poke at the self-serve poke bar. Usually I will go to the prepared foods counter and ask for a kale salad as a side with my fish. Along with the hot bar, I will usually pickup pasta as they have interesting dry pasta from Italy. The craft beer selection is curated and better than your average grocery store -- better than Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Bristol Farms. It kind of reminds me of Handy's Market in Burbank. The craft coffee section is great too. I love to walk the aisles and see what they have in stock. The produce seems more expensive. They carry Harry's Berries in the summertime, but they're quite expensive at $24.99 a container. Also, I usually pick up a whole pie to bring back home or gift to family. The prices have increased so I haven't been buying pie as often as I did before. I also use this grocery store as a stop for a restroom break as the beach across the street doesn't have restrooms. I usually pick some things up after using their restroom. There's seating on their patio if you don't want to eat in your car or at the beach. The people watching is good here. All kinds of people visit from the locals to construction workers and in-the-know visitors for the day in Malibu. Parking is never an issue. There's a brewery there with food in the same shopping center and a Starbucks. read more

I enjoy shopping at Vintage Grocers when I visit Zuma. I look forward to their hot breakfast bar and fresh poke bar. The store has very high quality products and shopping experience. However, I stepped on a landmine in the form of a cookie. Near the checkout, I grabbed an unpriced cookie locally baked by Alchemy. It was called a "campfire" cookie and looked delicious. After checkout, I glanced at the receipt. My breakfast bar was $11 but the cookie was $10! I asked the clerk to verify the pricing, which he confirmed that cookie was $9.99. Don't get me wrong, the cookie was delicious, but it wasn't $9.99 worth of delicious. Especially when it's near the checkout and I'm used to grabbing a chocolate chip at Whole Foods for $2.50. It's irresponsible and borderline criminal for Vintage to stock a single cookie for $10. The ingredients for that cookie are a $1.50 at most. Beware of Alchemy baked goods and think twice about tossing one into your basket. read more

This grocery store is one of my favorites in Malibu. Tried their poke for the first time and it was really good. A bit pricey as it is $20-21 a pound. I tried the spicy tuna (delicious) and the aloha tuna (fresh). Didn't really like the salmon though. Yummy seaweed salad. I honestly stop by here for their hot food bar all the time whenever I go to the beach. Overall pretty good and nice workers. read more

We've always stopped at Vintage when down in Malibu but today will be the last day. We picked up some Zuma chicken sausages from the meat counter as we have many times before but today they were disgusting. My husband even had to spit out a bite that had hard pieces in it. He called the store and the person that answered was friendly and concerned but connected him with the guy in the meat department who couldn't have cared less. We wanted to support a Malibu shop, especially after the fires but also learned the store is owned by a Walmart heiress so we don't need to worry about Vintage Grocer - they obviously don't hire employees that care about customers so we won't be stopping here again. Just had a bad experience here. Went to get some food at the hot bar and didn't see a sign that the Poke bar was a diff. Price. I took one little scoop of kimchi and the guy at the reg told me I have to get another container to put the kimchi in and the. He would have to weigh that separately. I said forget it. This lady walked away, Who may have been the boss, and the reg guy looked at me and said I'm so sorry. I said I'm sorry too. I didn't see the sign that the Poké bar was different price. I just took a little scoop of kimchi. so this place would rather waste a whole dish of food that somebody made at the hot bar than charge a little bit extra. If you've been here, you know how huge the containers are for their hot lunch bar so why would you waste a whole Nother container just to put three pieces of cabbage in? The wealthy do some ridiculous things. I give this store 4 stars. We were camping and it was the closest grocery store to us, and we needed a few things. We wanted a quick meal so grabbed a couple of sandwiches and some water for our lunch on the Beach. Two stocking clerks were buzzing around putting items on shelves and were in the same isles as we were a few times and both were rude, reaching right in front of us or next to us to shelve things, one of them practically bumping into us as he moved through the areas we were browsing in, like we didn't exist. No "excuse me" or "hello. Sorry, just need to place these quickly" or whatever they could have said to be polite. It made us feel unwelcome. Now about the sandwiches. We each got different ones-a Turkey on "Whole Wheat" with Cheese was my choice, and the other person bought one of the others (I forget which at the moment). Anyway, the "Whole Wheat" bread was very spongy if not soggy and was not Whole Wheat at all. It had some Whole Wheat Berries in it but that's the only Whole Wheat defining ingredient. Not only that, the lettuce in both sandwiches were completely limp and oxidized, so gross we took it out. The Turkey was dried out on the edges too. I ended up just having a few bites and throwing the rest away. Next time, we will go to the deli counter or try another store. The ambience is nice though and I loved all the organic selections. I got a little thrill too knowing that Ozzy Osbourne shopped there a few times while being filmed for The Osbournes, when staying in their Malibu Beach house. : ) read more

This is one of our stops on the way to the beach. They have really good options for yummy foods. We usually get sandwiches (BYO) and poke and sushi, etc. The sandwiches come with a pickle and side of choice (potato salad, Mac salad, pesto penne salad, etc). We got Turkey on ciabatta (toasted first) with lettuce, tomato, sprouts, avocado, Muenster cheese, and mayo....it was delicious! So was the pesto penne salad. We also got a side of potato salad (flavor was good but some of the potatoes were under cooked). Sergio was behind the deli counter and helped us. He was nice and made a great sandwich! :-) (I forgot to take a pic of the sandwich this time) We also got spicy tuna poke and a spicy salmon roll sushi and Chica's tortilla chips (really good if you haven't tried the...and the go great with poke) and the vegan (broccoli) krunch salad (also yummy). It's nice that they have a bunch of condiments to go with the food... packets of mayo, soy sauce, mustard, Tapatio, Sriracha sauce, ranch, honey mustard, chili flakes, salt, pepper, etc.) and cutlery is given at checkout by the cashier (you have to ask). I don't know what it is, but there seems be something in the water here in Malibu. With it's 21 (not 27 miles) of scenic beauty... (Look this one up, it's got interesting history) With all of the Rich & Famous literally living their best lives... And with every Malibu resident always smiling, looking cool & relaxed with no care in the world; It makes me want to drink the water too. So naturally, with every upscale city, there needs to be an upscale place to do the grocery shopping and let me tell you, Malibu's Vintage Grocers knows what's up. Not only is it an upscale grocery store, but it's a cool grocery store too and there's definitely nothin' wrong with that. Every aisle you walk down is absolutely immaculate. The produce department looks like a museum with nothing out of place and the butcher (meat and seafood department) always looks picture perfect. Vintage Grocers literally reminds me of how in the movie Titanic, Rose describes her recollection of the Ship as she begins to tell her story... "It's been 84 years, and I can still smell the fresh paint. The china had never been used. The sheets had never been slept in. Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was." It's like me saying... It's been 7 years (when Vintage Grocers opened), and I can still see the paint drying. The fruit has never been touched. The butcher block has never been used. After she saw the veteran hat that I was wearing, she asked if I usually get a discount. I replied that I sometimes get a veteran discount at some places. Vintage Grocers is a splurge of a grocery store but I am 100% here for it. Any grocery store that has its own logo merch is bougie in the best way possible LOL. Located off the PCH in Malibu it's an easy grocer to access and they have their own parking lot shared with the other little boutiques. The store was bigger then I expected and easy to navigate. It was clean and welcoming. Well, as welcoming as a grocery store could be (maybe some free samples next time and I'd say SUPER welcoming). Anyways, it's a "fancy" type grocery store were buying a couple items will easily run you $50. I grabbed some yogurt, dips, and non alcoholic drinks which easily ran up a tab. It's pricy but again, it's about the quality and the uniqueness of the items they sell that make this spot worth it. The staff were very friendly and check out was a breeze. The reason for a docked star is it's just a bit pricey for my taste and I found the hot/cold bar and fresh items harder to navigate as that area was more squished and long lines forming to get items. I also think since covid I prefer the hot/fresh bars to have items pre packaged. I really wanted to try their poke but I didn't like the idea that it was siting out while in a busy congested area of the market with everyone standing by it. I'm not normally so OCD but the food was looking exposed to the elements lol. Also I came right after Christmas so that could be why some of the items were out of stock. There was some canned fish and sauces I was looking for but they were sold out on the shelf and it was only like 1pm. I give Grace though because I'm imagining it's better stocked not after a holiday rush. This place legit has everything you could need for a beach day and everything your local grocery store at home doesn't. We stopped by on the way to the beach. Parking lot is small it if you're patient you can easily snag a spot. Huge selection of hot food, poke, sandwiches. baked goods, juice bar, all the perfect beach snacks you could ask for. I know it sounds weird but I heard this place has the best muffins and it's not a lie. We grabbed a banana nut and lemon poppy seed and they were so enjoyable. Traveling PCH often, coming from Ventura to LA, we stop at the Vintage Grocers. Upon a great selection of fine grocery items and produce, we head straight for the deli section. The freshly made sandwiches are perfect for a picnic lunch at the beach. The coffee shop inside the store serves up fantastic cappuccino and delicious sweet treats. They recently switched out their meat vendor and the quality of what they replaced it with is not only terrible, but it's more expensive. Gone from spending $300/week in JUST meat---to $0. The market has food and we were looking for lunch, the one thing we didn't expect was the deli and hot food section of this market. To say I was impressed would be abn understatement. Not only did they have fresh deli sandwiches crafted before your eyes, but they also made fresh pizzas to order and there was a huge selection of hot food items and desserts too. The managers and HR here are horrible people. They verbally hurrass, use obscenities towards, overwork, and under pay their employees. They also encourage hostility between coworkers. The way low income and homeless people are treated at this store is disgusting. Most of the "fresh food" is dry, bland, and over priced. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. read more

We discovered this market when we drove to Malibu yesterday. Very interesting wine department with the most expensive $2,400 wine bottle I've ever seen in a supermarket. They also carry my fave sake, Wakatake Daijingo for $45.99! The service deli didn't look fresh so we didn't actually buy anything but it's a cool market in a new strip mall on PCH so I give them a 3.5 stars for the location and interior wine and spirits section. Employees weren't very engaging or friendly which is why I'm not giving 4 stars. If I lived in Trancas, I would probably shop here for specialty items and produce. read more

Looks like a nice store but it's not. For the prices the employees should have knowledge. We tried to order sliced ham and the young man behind the counter couldn't find the ham. Then he sliced more than we asked and just grabbed it w his hands and then walked away leaving the ham on the scale !
