The store is full of eclectic and vibrant decor that will speak to the hearts of artists everywhere, ranging from clothing, to furniture, to toys and museum quality gifts. It has a variety of quirky finds that I've never seen before. The intention here is almost like a local gallery exalting each stunning piece of art, no matter how small. The pieces ranged from the very tiny porcelain dog, which was about the size of your thumb, to the very large bears, that were furry and taller than me. Colorful, diverse art dotted the walls and were displayed in all different living room themes for all different tastes and styles of home. This was a clever idea. You could picture the decor in your own home. "Buy local" is the intention here and deteriorating properties were bought up by the owner and given a stunning facelift to elevate the community. This was a closed down roller rink. There was also a cinema next door that turned to a gift shop and off beat eatery. The unique history of each is preserved in the original artifacts throughout. Being that this is art focused and unique, don't have the expectation of Walmart prices. Of course you're getting one-of-a-kind quality pieces that will make your heart sing when you see your selected art displayed proudly in your home. Leon & Lulu also will give you a discount for your birthday if you share that information. If you're in Ferndale, Clawson or Detroit, put this store on your must visit list.

If you're looking for something unique, funny, fun, or more of a traditional purchase then this place is for you. We were able to purchase some very cool gifts for friends and family that were tailored to their personality. The shop's staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed them and they were also pretty available when we needed someone even though they were a bit busy. As for the prices I would put them on par for a place that sells the selection that this place has. You can find some items that are cheaper (not cheaply made), and other items that are pretty high (saw a pillow for around $300 ). I will definitely be putting this place on my list of shops to go for the next time I need to shop for friends and family!

The regular priced items in the front of the store were outrageously priced, even damaged items & not small damage, ripped furniture that would be costly to repair & chipped ceramic and glass items that I'm not sure could be repaired. There were also some beautiful pieces, way overpriced beautiful pieces. I can not anyone buying something from this place, you can find the same thing's elsewhere & priced as it should be. I have a house full of it that I love, enjoy, and paid a fair price to the seller/store for. I could never imagine enjoying something bought from ModMart, I would be too busy kicking myself.

Really friendly staff. Adorable dog sometimes wanders the store. Huge 45 section, lots of CDs and DVDs too. The cons: no new arrivals section which means you need to browse the whole store to see all the new stuff. Also, they have a huge .25 cent selection of junk albums. I sometimes like to buy those primarily for the covers for art or display projects. But they write .25 cents in marker on the front of the cover. I have no problem with marking the outer sleeve but do it on the back! It's on Woodward with that really cramped parking. Overall though, it's a great store! Go there!

It's clean, and the displays furnishings are nicely set up so you can stroll through and see little vignettes of chairs/tables/mirrors/lamps/cabinets all set up. I felt like I was wandering a furniture store rather than looking at second hand finds. Lots of treasures here. From large ornate mirrors, lamps, and art to collectibles from all around the world. There was a fair number of Asian collectibles. Sometimes an item was being passed off as "antique" when it looked like it might be more of the Pier1 variety, but I'll let it slide. As far as style, there are a lot of 90 and early 2000's trends represented. I bet Monica or Rachel from Friends would shop here. Haha! Don't expect thrift store cheap prices. It's not necessarily for bargain hunters. But if you want a nice piece of ornate furniture second-hand, I'd recommend you stop here to shop. Park directly in front of the store, or in the overflow parking lot at the motel next door. I am giving it four stars because it's a nice shop and I have almost no complaints. To get 5 stars it would have to really stand out from other shops. Perhaps have some more contemporary styles represented at more enticing price points.
