One of my favorite places in the airports we. I travel! Special tastings and Amuse Bouche for loyalty customers....yum!

In vino veritas

Oasis of wine and appetizers in chaotic JFK terminal 8. It's right next to gate 39, which was our gate. Not a huge selection of whites, but something in most categories.

Pizza that has ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR. Eat the box it comes in. It will be much more satisfying. Besides being ridiculously expensive.

Really 3.5 stars. A one-man shop that serves up good food in JFK.

Why why why is the music here so loud? This is a wine bar not a night club. So obnoxiously loud it makes me want to leave.

We stumbled upon Vino Volo after looking for a bar with good beer selection. Apparently, that doesn't exist, so we gave this place a try with no expectations. First, we were gonna get wine by glass, but it doesn't make sense to pay for 3 glasses of wine for the price of a bottle. Even though they seem to have a generous pour here. We got a bottle of Dolcetto, which is a dry red wine with a hint of black cherry and cinnamon from Piedmont area in Italy for $40. We accompanied our wine with two dishes, 5-Piece Salmon Rolls and Brisket Sandwich. Both of them were great. I love those cornichons and caper berries! Why 3 stars then? Well, first of all, the bartender who was supposed to take care of us ended his shift at 4, so nobody paid attention to us afterwards. We were never asked how the food or wine was. Water had never been offered. No 'Thank You' was uttered when we left. Great experience, imho.

Looking over the menu, I saw a brunch of good choice both by the glass and server as flights. I decides to start with a glass of red wine and then ended up ordering a flights. What I specifically loved about this place Is the factura that they included information cards about each wine that included the taste profile as well as a detailed description. I also ended up ordering the cheese plate which was delicious!!!! The bartender was also very nice enough to pour my a glass of sparkling White that he suggested paired well with my plate. He was right because I ended up ordering another glass of that white wine. I spent a little over $50 bucks for the plate and the 2 glasses of wine, along with the wine flight. Definitely worth it and will be coming back if I fly out of this terminal again!

This was my second time dining here, and I thoroughly enjoyed it once again…read more After enjoying a delicious meal paired with a fantastic all-jazz performance, I'm already looking forward to coming back. I ordered the short ribs and the five-onion soup again, and both were excellent. The service was spot-on and impressively quick--my food arrived in under 15 minutes. The owner is also really cool; he personally greets guests and makes a point of chatting with the performers to ensure they're comfortable. This is a wonderfully romantic spot. The beautiful flowers add such a nice touch (as I mentioned in my previous review). While it's not fully upscale, it has an elevated, sophisticated vibe that makes you want to dress up for the occasion. Highly recommended!

Well, at least business was "Blooming" due to Mother's Day reservations…read more All jokes aside, I visited this restaurant yesterday for a Mother's Day brunch with a group of eight others. Our reservation had been confirmed the day before by both our host and the restaurant. When I arrived early, I was surprised to find the place jam-packed and clearly overcrowded. The front-of-house staff, along with the presumed owner, seemed overwhelmed and initially could not locate our 12:00 reservation. There were also guests with 11:30 and later reservations that were still waiting to be seated, along with several other groups scheduled around our time. After waiting nearly 50 minutes, talking with others who were also waiting, and watching two other tables be hastily set up and filled, we were finally seated. The table had been quickly wiped down and set with placemats, but it was missing silverware and several glasses. Most of this was resolved fairly quickly, though two people still never received glasses, with one person asking a few times for one. Our clearly overworked waitress brought us water and eventually took our order after a shorter additional wait. I ordered a $6 cappuccino, which was enjoyable, with a moderate amount of foam and a pleasantly bitter flavor without tasting over-roasted. However, another person's $4.50 iced coffee did not seem worth the price, as it appeared to be no more than a 12-ounce glass and was mostly filled with ice. Outside of coffee, the staff was understandably slow with water, with long waits, and we finally got a pitcher near the end of the meal. For my meal, I chose the $16 Poached Browns, which included two poached eggs, pulled pork, an English muffin, hollandaise sauce, and their Bloom hash. Many minutes later, and I mean many, the eggs were properly poached and were the highlight of the dish. The pulled pork, served without any additional sauce, was dry, and the small amount of hollandaise did little to help. The hash on the side lacked crispiness and vegetables, aside from what might have been a tiny piece of chopped yellow pepper. Overall, it was below average but passable. Two others ordered the Make Your Own Omelette for $19, which comes with a choice of three ingredients, the same hash, and bacon. They made two specific requests, both of which our waitress confirmed: first, that they did not want bacon, and second, that they could substitute fries for the hash--regular fries for one person and sweet potato fries for the other. Despite this, both plates arrived with bacon, as you can see in my first photo, where one of them transferred her bacon to my plate. The other person sent her plate back and ended up receiving her Mother's Day meal well after everyone else. The omelette also looked a bit more like a frittata, which I didn't mind. After waiting a while, including finally getting pitchers of water, we finally left after a long and annoying bunch. If this spot indeed had reservation issues, why on earth were they still allowing walk-ins? Why did they tell people it would take 15-20 minutes to seat when it would clearly take 30+? This entire experience was inept from beginning to end. The food this time is closer to a 2, but our experience as a whole was closer to a 1. I would never go back.

Housed in a landmark Floral Park building, this gem has a warm ambiance with low lighting, leather booths, and quiet background coffee-sleepy-jazz in the background (Though, as a fan, I wish they hadn't messed with the Sly and the Family Stone's "If You Want Me To Stay" :D). There is an inviting large bar, an open kitchen, and a large private room in the back. The menu is American classics made with premium ingredients. Although his place is known for their single malt whiskey, craft beer and signature cocktails, only one at our table had a cocktail: EZ Money made with gin, prosecco, lemon, cucumber and St- Germain Elderflower Liqueur. I will look at their wine list next visit. As for the food, the garlic bread and calamari did not disappoint. Our table ordered a variety of dishes. A unique rotisserie chicken salad sandwich, a salmon bowl, and an order of mussels. Each dish was a win. I chose a great mesclun green salad and had to try the double smash burger, a mouth-watering proprietary blend of prime chuck, brisket and short rib which I'd have to talk myself out of not re ordering with my next visit. From family gatherings and office parties to intimate date nights, The Harrison offers an ambiance and menu designed to satisfy both the casual diner and the most discerning palate.
