Best table snacks, the morsels of asiago cheese, ring-shaped crackers/ tarallini (a traditional…read moresnack in Puglia), and mortadella, served straight up in a cute mini chest. Lunch service began at 12pm, so our arrival at 11:30am turned into a short aperitivo hour where I ordered a [very] light Limoncello, poured pre-mixed from a bottle. Eventually, after viewing the menu through an app (which offered *some* translations), we ordered directly with a server. The Polpette di manzo/ beef meatballs in tomato sauce were actually quite delicious, the natural acidity from the fresh tomatoes lending much to the flavor. Unfortunately, while the half sleeve pasta shells on their own were quite bouncy and enjoyable, the carbonara ingredients for the Mezze maniche alla carbonara made the dish SO salty. Similarly, my friend's mezze maniche in a tomato sauce (al sugo di pomodoro) was just as salty. Maybe the sharp pecorino cheese is just too strong for us or there was a serious error in the amount added. We were let down a bit since our Airbnb host hyped up this place for pasta to a great extent! I'm just glad I at least was able to enjoy my meatballs and the table snacks which were of top quality!

It must be the best Taglieri, Picada or Charcuterie plate I had in my life…read more The quality of the meat and cheeses is extraordinary. Just by thinking of it I get cravings. Mouth watering affettati from prosciutto to soppressata and asiago to caprino everything is delicious. We had the 3 meat and 3 cheese affettati. The selection we made, and the one I would every single time, was Speck, Prosciutto di Parma and Bresaola and for the cheese selection Asiago, Grana Padano and Brie. The waitress gave us a taste of the Caprino which I love the creaminess of it. The bread basket was amazing too of course. The bread here in Italy is just spectacular. You can't go wrong with any panini, sandwich or piadina in Milano. All the charcuterie and cold cuts are incredible and the bread too so order with confidence. The tartine are very good too, super fresh and with a lot of flavor. We had the crab, the salmon and the cotto. Really nice tartina! I prefer though the degustazione of affettati because even the bread was superior. The grissini is a trip back to childhood. What it stroked me the most was the neighborhood. The whole Brera area is lovely and the street where La Tartina is located is something out of a romantic movie. It's so quiet, beautiful and welcoming. I instantly went into relaxation mode. Also, our waitress was so nice with us. She helped us with the selection and recommended a few cuts and even gave us the Caprino to try. She was this beautiful woman like all Italians (including men too) that made our lunch so magic just with her smile. All the staff is super friendly and helpful. Would go back anytime anytime. In fact I'll go back right now! At least in my mind...

This was the only time on my 3.5 week trip I wasn't given an itemized receipt. If I wasn't ripped off, the place is still a rip off. The tartines look pretty but barely have any toppings compared to the amount of bland bread they're put on. It's like sushi at an all you can eat place where they put the thinnest slice of fish possible on okay rice to make it look pretty, but there's barely any substance. The only customers there were tourists. Locals seem to know better.

The sea bass was light and flaky. Not overly seasoned or sauced. Service - Really amazing. I watched the staff interact and it was flawless. The manger was running a tight ship. Ambiance - Very chill and not a bit pretentious. It was a relaxed and perfect place for lunch after walking for 2-3 hours. I will return on my next trip to Milan.

Thanks Yelpies for the nice photos. We opted to sit at the patio by the street. They made it little better by putting a facade between the street and the sidewalk. No smokers but that didn't last long. In Italy, outside seating means someone will be smoking next to you. Guaranteed. When we got here, thr waiter started shaking his head when I said no reservation. After conferring with another waiter, we got seated and things started rolling. Bread was brought out and asked for bottled water. To my surprise, cuperto was free and Pellagrino was only €3.50 Chilled vino bianco was delicious with the two items we shared. I got the grilled octopus served on top of the mashed potatoes. (POLPO CROCCANTE Purè, pomodorini semi dry, paté di olive nere) It was a large serving and grilled to perfection. The fish soup (ZUPPA DI PESCE Pomodoro, calamari, polipetti, seppie, gamberi, cozze, vongole, crostini di pane) had flavor that I wasn't use to. Salty, thick soup base? Definitely better to dip with scarpetta. Wasn't happy that one clam and one mussels didn't open up. Our waiter were on top of everything till we were ready to go. Guy next to us rolled a cigarette and started smoking and I was ready to roll out of there. Took while to get the bill after repeatedly asking for it. Overall, we only scratched the surface and love to come back and spend exploring other items like raw fish platers. Inside!
