After frustration with another well-known taxi service, I searched online and happened upon Active Limo and Taxi and then called the owner, Russ. Instantly, I knew I was going to be helped with my dilemma of needing a ride that would require 3 stops and a good deal of time at the first stop. Immediately, Russ called another driver (Clem) who lived very close to my St. Pete Beach home. Clem called me right away and after explaining my needs (which included a tight timeline for the afternoon) -- he was almost instantly at my door! Thanks to Russ and Clem, I was able to achieve my stressful goals for the day; what as more, with some humor and ease -- HUGE SMILE! Both Russ and Clem have "other" very interesting professional backgrounds and this made for the "added bonus" of interesting conversation along the way, as well. In the beginning the communication was good and we confirmed the ride the day before. The morning of the pickup we were already outside with luggage, wedding dress at 4am. Eight minutes past our pickup time I texted and called with no answer or reply. I called 3 more times between 4:08 and 4:23 with no answer. We were forced to call an uber that was 30 min away. With a very long travel day ahead of us and the added stress of making it to the airport in time was not how we wanted to start our day. One and half hours later i finally received several calls from Joseph. 12 calls back to back. I texted him back and told him we were in a Uber and had nothing to say to him. I had to tell him twice to stop calling me. He said he had an emergency with his daughter and didn't have his phone with him. He did offer to pay for our uber and give us a free ride when we returned but after this first experience we are not willing to give Tuffys a second chance. Plus, uber was cheaper.

That has not always been the case with the competition, but Lino has NEVER done me wrong. One instance in particular when I had to make an emergency trip home to see one of my children who had been admitted into the Children's ICU. Lino met me and my bags at the airport and rushed me to the hospital...then took my bags home. I gave him the key to my house and when I got home the key was under the mat and my bags were inside. There are VERY few people I would trust enough to give my house key to, but Lino is one of them. You just don't know who you can trust any more with anything. After being unhappy with EVERY other company that I had tried, for more than a year & a half, I was thrilled to finally have a company that cared about me as a client! These guys are ALWAYS on time, friendly, & a pleasure to be transported by. Their vehicles are very clean & they obviously take care of them very well (maintenance is done so we don't get stuck on the side of the road). I have never had a bad experience with this company, & that's saying A LOT! Until I found this company, I had never felt safe being transported by someone else. All of the other companies either had bad equipment, bad attitudes, or both. The other guys would talk on the phone, text while driving, leave me stranded & waiting for a ride back home (while my cold groceries melted) & many of their drivers were just nasty people... Literally, some of them even smelled bad. Some of the drivers even cursed @ me or talked down to me because I'm handicapped. I've also been stuck sitting on the side of the highway too because their vehicle broke down & once I was with a company that actually had a flat tire with NO SPARE. Sedan was clean and smooth ride…read more HOWEVER---Cab driver had to TEXT to dispatcher constantly during the trip(no dispatcher radio). Dangerous distracted driving. Cab driver took wrong exit off of I-275 due to texting distraction. Driver used passengers iPhone GPS driving directions next. Got to airport on time. Driver informs passengers it is "CASH ONLY" today ($119 flat rate) because company will not take credit cards yet. Driver offered to go with passenger in Airport ATM to get cash. Fortunately, I had the cash and paid $140 including tip. I do not recommend ANY taxi that has no radio to dispatcher and relies on TEXTING down the highway. Nor do most folks like "CASH ONLY" companies. Not recommended. Will not use TAXI TAXI again.
