We all know this classic Concord pizza joint changed hands (maybe even more than once?) But from my most recent experience, the new owner has brought the classic taste and ambiance very close to the OG... which makes me so happy bc I grew up on Vinnie's pizza. I can also say that our most recent experience ordering subs was fabulous! They were just as amazing as the pizza. Lastly, we usually take out, but this night we were in a rush; we told them the time we needed to leave by and they made it happen effortlessly. This is not the Vinnie's Pizzeria of yesteryear. Vinnie's Pizzeria has new owners, and gone is the New York style, thin-crust pizza, it is replaced by pizza that tastes like a cross between Greek pizza and Costco pizza, and it is greasy. We ordered slices, and the guy at the register must have forgotten about our order; 12 minutes after we placed our order, he finally got around to throwing our slices into a tiny, electric oven, to heat the cold slices up (and he did just about nothing, over those 12 minutes). The napkins in the restaurant - - never before have we experienced anything like them, they feel like sandpaper. The restaurant is clean. Terrible times now not the same as it used to be now they suck! First sign of issue was The girl at the front taking the order, she seemed like she had no idea what she was doing and I asked for a receipt she rang me out and walked off without providing me with it...after a few more minor issues we got our food after waiting about a half hour for two subs (a meatball and a large turkey club) now let's get to the good stuff - we get back to the job site from lunch late.... Bite into the sandwich only to find out it has 1 small piece of turkey in a large turkey club . So I call and speak with the guy who says he's the manager pretty much denies it and says bring it back then and sarcastically says thanks good luck and hangs up . Poor customer service . read more

I just have to say the calzone was delicious. I live nowhere near Vinnie's and this saddens me as I know I'll never have another calzone from here. If you haven't tried it, do it! The meat and cheese was so fresh and so tasty. The fresh crust was perfect, crusty on the outside and nice and tender inside. We got the large big mistake as it was ginormous. I had not been to Vinnie's in almost 10 years, mainly because we moved near Checkmate and then Sal's came to town. Lately I was discouraged by reviews of the new ownership. This week I tried 2 cheese slices for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by how good they were. Not quite as thick as the old Vinnie's (which is good), same terrific sauce and the right amount of cheese. But what nailed it was the perfect crispy-ness. Also the very reasonable price of $5 for two large slices was great. Although I miss the museum of photos that was old Vinnie's, the place is much cleaner and nicely finished. I remember a few decades ago, if you asked someone on the street who had the best pizza in Concord 90 percent of the time the answer would be, "Vinnie's". After visiting there tonight for the first time in probably 15 years I am happy to opine that things haven't changed. Service was polite, quick and friendly and the "Vinnie's Special" pizza was just as I remembered... huge, fresh, and delicious! Not cheap but a good value in view of the size and the amount of toppings. Only disappointment were the onion rings... greasy and a very small portion for the $10 price. A rather old school establishment in an ancient building, do not come here looking for ambiance or "atmosphere" ( although they do offer table service.) But for a delicious pizza... you can't go wrong at Vinnie's! read more

Vinnie's is one of the better pizza shops in Concord. This place has been a Concord institution since 1958 serving great Italian style pizza. The shop is very old school with an open pizza kitchen and tables for dining in. The walls are plastered with old framed sports photos, mostly boxing and there's also a TV too. Vinnie's is the pizza of choice of several of my coworkers. I've had the pizza several times, which has been very good with a good firm crust, a bit on the greasy side. I enjoy the sausage pizza from Vinnie's. Besides pizza, they also make Italian grinders, salads, gondolas (split Italian roll topped with sauce, cheese, and choice of topping), and cold beverages(Coke products). Bottled beer and wine coolers are served here. On another note, Vinnie's advertises they use real brick ovens, but I've seen the pizzas are baked in conventional metal pizza ovens, "no brick ovens" presently in the kitchen. read more

This is a tale of two pizzarias. The first one is of an old school legendary pizza maker and his family that made a pie worthy of a journey. Totally legit and memorable. One slice of the old Vinnie's Special would/could fill you up. You would reminisce for a few days about how good it was. But the old Vinnie's is gone now... The second pizzeria is a good pizza place in its own right. Definitely a decent pie. Fresh and well made. Does it compare to the old Vinnie's? Nope. Nada. Not even close. Should've changed the name and created their own reputation if they weren't going to keep Vinnie's recipes. On it's own might be a 4 star. read more

The only thing original about Vinnie's is the name. The restaurant was sold and I understand they were trying to keep the same pizza as the original owners. They did not succeed. After about 6 straight days of seafood, my boyfriend and I visiting from CO needed a change. We were staying on the coast, but I'd wanted to see the capital so we did a Yelp search for pizza. A few other came up, but Vinnie's seemed to have the best review. We ordered a salad, whole pie and beer of course. The salad was made fresh and for less than $5 was more than the 2 of us could eat. It was perfect while we waited 20 minutes for them to cook our pie. We were not the least bit disappointed in our pie. The crust was great, sauce had good flavor and the sausage had a kick. Looking to grab a quick bite to eat before meeting up with a large group of friends, my friend and I decided to stop here and get some pizza. From the outside, the smell lured us in and we were excited to get our nosh on. Upon walking in, you definitely get the old fashioned feel with an open concept kitchen and some table seating. We were quickly greeted by one of the workers who took our order. We ended up ordering a pepperoni pizza, however, they have an extensive list of specialty pizzas, sandwiches, pastas, etc., all of which seem appropriately priced given the portions. When we got our pizza, it was incredibly hot, which was great. So we let it cool down a bit before digging in. Unfortunately, the pizza dough was stretched so incredibly thin that it couldn't hold onto the sauce, cheese and pepperoni. Every slice just seemed to fall apart, and it didn't help that there was a layer of wetness that made the pizza even more flimsy and broken. The taste was "meh." Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing to ride home about. Would I come back? Not unless friends really, really wanted to go here. I went in Vinnie's Pizza a year ago and found it on the higher priced pizza places but it was good. I went back yesterday and got a medium pizza with pepperoni, Hamburg and onions. It was $22.45. They must of put 2 lbs of Hamburg on it and a little onions. I could not see or taste and pizza sauce on it. All I could taste was Hamburg. The pizza had no taste to it at all. The appearance of the restaurant needed work. I don't think they know what a mop is because the titled floor was very dirty. I would not recommend this pizza place to anyone. read more

There are three salads on the menu: I ordered the garden salad and was happy with the size but it was all iceberg lettuce with a few onions, peppers and tomatoes(all diced). We were hoping to order an appetizer but there are none. However the pizza is awesome. Definitely will return. I'd recommend take out. I'm a lifelong Concord resident and remember Vinnie Sr. Behind the counter. I've had countless Hamburger, pepper and onion pizza's over the decades. Since they sold the business... the recipes might be the same, but the pizza is NOT. My wife and I decided to give it another try tonight and it was a huge disappointment. Rather then fresh burger added raw and cooked on the pizza, it had been scrambled before hand and spread like sawdust over the barest amount of cheese, with tasteless sauce and equally tasteless/dry crust.
