Here's a breakdown of the work: - Finished construction of an unfinished basement - Herbert guided me through the entire floor plan, explaining the electrical layout, wall placements, and ideal appliance orientation - Built a kitchen from scratch -- excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail - Painted the entire house, including ceilings, walls, floors, and even the garage They completed all of this in just over two weeks, working 7 days a week from 7 AM to 7 PM. The quality of the work was outstanding. Herbert was reliable, responsive, and extremely accommodating. I had multiple change requests during the job, and he handled all of them without hesitation. After getting several quotes, Herbert's pricing was the most competitive. All work was completed to code and with professionalism. If you're looking for a skilled, jack-of-all-trades contractor, Herbert is your guy. He brings in specialists for larger tasks (electrical, plumbing, landscaping, etc.) and manages the project seamlessly. I'll definitely be calling him for future work on my properties and strongly recommend him to others.

We called MyPainter because they are local (we wanted to support local businesses), and because the job wasn't that big so we were looking to work with somebody who could come quickly, do a good job, and who we might have on hand for repairs and touch ups in the future. MyPainter was the perfect match for us. Their sales leader Harrison came within a few days of us requesting a quote and was always available by phone and email. We had a scheduling delay due to basement repairs, and when I called him, he didn't fuss at all about moving the paint job to another day, which I seriously appreciated, as in my experience, moving scheduling can be a big pain. When his team came, they were so sweet, kind, and prompt. They showed up everyday at 8 AM and - seriously bless them - on the first day they waited until 9 AM as not to wake us up. After that I told them I woke up at 6 AM so anytime was fine - especially if it made the job easier : ) This was seriously hard work - 8 hours of taping and spraying in a 5 foot basement. They did it all with smiles and kindness, and in the end, asked me to walk through with them to make sure they hadn't missed anything. I think a lot of people complain when things "aren't right" - but in my experience its only human that things will be missed. What's far more important in my opinion is their willingness to listen and make things right when pointed out (we all are human after all). They did this to an exemplary degree. I am going to be calling them again when I need more touch ups and other jobs around the house.

Communication with the owner was exceptional from start to finish. No long wait times, no back-and-forth delays--just clear, prompt, and professional responses that made coordination effortless. What impressed me most was their ability to perform under extremely challenging conditions. With 25-30 mph wind gusts and a three-story exterior to paint, I fully expected delays. Instead, they performed absolute magic. Their precision, attention to detail, and commitment to getting the job done safely and correctly were remarkable. This project was for one of our premier rentals in Alexandria, and the final result looks fantastic. I would absolutely use JZ Painting again for future projects and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others looking for a reliable, high-quality painting crew. I wanted to write a review of the great work that Hugo and…read more Noel did refinishing our living room, kitchen ceiling and three doorways in November. In the living room, Hugo and Noel replaced our dated wood paneling with drywall, refinished one entry way, the baseboards, shoe molding and the room's bay window trim and sill. In the living room, the drywall work was made more challenging as they had to fit it up against the ceiling beams and a fireplace mantle. In the kitchen, they refinished the ceiling and re-framed two doorways, that had dated louvered doors, into beautiful entryways. All work was meticulous, with perfect fit and finish. One example of the attention to detail and craftsmanship was the bay window sill replacement. Hugo took stock sill molding that was wider than the original molding and cut it to size. The result was a sill replacement looked exactly like the original. He even hand sanded the sill's corners to match the curve of the original sill. In all they did, their care for fine workmanship was evident. Words to describe Hugo, Noel and their work: professional, meticulous, prompt, courteous, friendly. Communications were great. Hugo and Noel always explained the work they were going to do that day and at the end of the day, relayed their work schedule for the next day. Each day, they arrived at the time they said they would be at our house. With all work, they took the time to ask and understand what we, as customers, wanted. Throughout the project, they asked for feedback on their work to make sure they were meeting our expectations. We were very satisfied. We highly recommend Hugo and Noel!
