It's beautiful... and that's the most appropriate comment I will type. My husband and I met Joseph in August of 2024 to plan our daughter's quinceanera that just took place on May 9th 2026. We went over the contract thoroughly, eventually deciding that we would bring our own vendors (taquero, DJ, photographer, baker, event decorator, and 360 photo booth), as I have known many of these people for years and have an established, trusting relationship with most of them. Joseph said that was perfectly fine, the only service that we had to use from his side was the bartender, which my husband and I understood. During this meeting we also met his assistant Patty and were told that she would also be helping us through this process, but that he was always available, and we would have his complete attention the week of and leading to the day of our daughter's celebration. Part of our contract states that we were able to bring the supplies/decor/spirits to the venue the week of the quince. So, on May 4th, my family and I filled the event room with the decorations et al, that we would be using for the following Saturday, the 9th. Every single day, Monday through Friday that week, my mom and I were at the venue, sorting through boxes, opening packages, putting the cake table pieces together, setting up the candy bar, making sure that when the day of came, everything would be organized and ready for the staff to take out to decorate. Friday afternoon (5/8) we met with Patty to clarify all of this. But first let me elaborate a bit more... My family and I had informed Joseph and Patty that we would be bringing some salads, fruit/vegetable platters, and items for a nacho bar that would need to be set up before we arrived. Joseph explained that he did not have enough staff to help with that (8 people doing various jobs, still unsure of what) and that either myself or a friend/family member would need to come and get this ready because he could not accommodate this. We were so grateful that our BAKER, who is not employed by the venue, was able to help with this since she was also arriving early to bring the desserts for the cake table. More on that in a minute. When we arrived at the venue the day of the quince, it looked beautiful, the tables looked ready, centerpieces, runners, etc. then I started noticing that there was so much more missing, and my guests were already walking into the party space. For starters, I did not see hardly any staff in the party area and Patty was unfortunately running around like a madman. She was feverishly trying to set up the luminaries and LED pillars we had brought for the garden walkway. I also noticed that the fruit/veggie/nacho bar table was not set up. I ended up rushing to the clubhouse where all of this was being stored and took everything out of the refrigerator myself. I encountered a staff member on the way back who said to me, "Oh are you the mom? Oh let me know what you need help with." My mind was absolutely boggled. Did my family and I NOT just spend the entire week here and leave detailed instructions? And then... While carrying said fruit/vegetable trays, I walked by the tables to notice that there were not any "reserved" signs placed. We had asked for two tables to be held for the immediate family. I had mentioned this to one of the staff, I believe Lily (she was very lovely) and said she would get right on it. About 10 minutes later I saw that the signs were there, but what I learned the following week was that one of the tables already had guests sitting at it and they were promptly asked to move to another table. Sigh... And then... Once my husband and I were able to catch our breath, we grabbed a quick drink. Jason was our bartender, very kind and solid drinks. While we were at the bar, Joseph came up to talk to us, telling Jason that someone got sick in the bathroom and that he had to stop serving hard alcohol for an hour. Mind you, the bar has only been open about forty-five minutes, and no one has had any shots or is intoxicated. We all disagreed with this but had to oblige. By this time, we were falling behind schedule and had to do the main entrance. Then I realized that I had not seen my daughter in almost two hours, the sun was starting to set, and we did not take any pictures with her in this beautiful space because we had to do the jobs that we had hired this venue for. In the end: No pictures with our daughter in this space that cost half our budget Staff enjoyed our taquero without checking to make sure all of our guests had eaten Saw photos of Joseph and his staff enjoying our 360 photo booth Learned that 80% of my vendors experienced an unpleasant encounter with Joseph My guests were unsatisfied with parking/golf cart availability Not enough restroom signage Reports from vendors state as of 2pm, tablecloths weren't even on the tables. read more

The hacienda is hidden and serene. The peaceful grounds with the stunning pond filled with koi and turtles, many statues and totems throughout the exterior and the interior furnishings and handcrafted art work are incredibly beautiful. We were given a tour of the wine cellar. VH has a large variety of their own wines at an affordable price. Rhonda, gave us the tour and shared the history of the estate. She also answered many questions about our stay and offered future reservation tips and places to eat. There was an error with a double booking that Rhonda graciously adjusted for us, thank you!! We had our perfect wedding at Vineyard Hacienda and a large part of that is due to Joseph and his staff (Laura, Joy, Patti, and Lily). Joseph served as our day of coordinator and killed it! First of all, Joseph was so communicative and easily reachable, whether it be email, text or a phone call. He never left me hanging and was on top of everything. Anything we needed, he made it happen. I may have gotten carried away the night before at the rehearsal dinner, and guess what! Joseph was there providing me with Gatorade, Alka seltzer, checking up on me, etc. While my bride was busy getting ready, he made sure I recovered quickly for my wedding. And his staff was incrediblely helpful. They are the sweetest ladies ever and made sure we had everything we needed for both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day. Second, the venue is gorgeous! We received lots of compliments from our guests on how stunning the scenery was and how well decorated everything was. It was also really nice that we had the WHOLE property to ourselves. Whereas other wedding venues may have multiple events or weddings happening in the same day, we didn't. It was nice knowing that we and our guests had privacy without any onlookers. We also had all 7 hotel rooms included in our package, which was a really nice perk! In addition to full use of the pool house and pool area, which is where we had our after party! Lastly, even though we were running behind schedule, Joseph didn't try to rush us. He made it clear that it was our day and he was there to support and make sure we were happy and had a good time. I can't stress enough how awesome Joseph and his staff were. We truly had an amazing wedding and if we could go back in time, we'd pick Vineyard Hacidena over and over again! That said, just want to say that Joseph is a super cool guy too! He's really the type of guy you could just go grab a beer with and talk about anything. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Vineyard Hacienda! I first hosted my daughter Isabella's Sweet 16 here back in 2021, and the experience was so incredible that I knew without a doubt I had to come back for my youngest daughter Valentina's Sweet 16 this past weekend (September 6, 2025). From the very start, Joseph (the owner) was amazing. Professional, attentive, and always in communication with me throughout the planning process. We had our wedding at this venue on 5/2/2026 with over 130 guests. The price included everything except the dress, suit and the cake. My husband and I are not event planners by any means. I cannot tell you how much Joseph (the owner) helped us throughout the process. We initially met with him a few months prior to the wedding and he guided us through our event. Detail by detail. The venue included 7 rooms. We were able to book the Friday before for rehearsal and use of the property. This made things so much easier to prep for the next day event. Joseph was available throughout the entire event. His staff was very hands on from decorating to cleaning to catering to guests. We received compliments on the staff friendliness and helpfulness. The property itself is beautiful and you would never know it's there. It was very easy to get to. The caterer (which was included with the package) was amazing. The food was delicious and he was also very attentive. Dj services were provided. They met with us during our initial meeting with Joseph. They reached out prior to the wedding to coordinate music for the event. Honestly I could go on about this venue, but if you're looking for an affordable but beautiful rustic location, this is your place. We stayed until Sunday afternoon. The property is lovely and has an enriching history towards it. However, when I booked a tour of the venue my meeting didn't start until after an entire hour had already went by. I was looking into venues as I am getting married this year and I was very disappointed with their time management. I found this place on theknot.com and messaged them through the website. They got back to me fairly quickly and I booked a tour for the place on the understanding that both parties would be available. When my fiancé and I got there we were confused on where to check in so we called the number and eventually Patty came to assist us. She invited us to go sit down outside near the pool and let us know that Joe was in meeting that was going be ending soon. So we sat and waited and waited and waited! Joe came out a couple of times and apologized for the delay. He told his workers, Patty, to give us the tour while he finished up his meeting and by the time we were done with the tour my fiancé and I were STILL waiting for his meeting with other clients to finish! When he finally got to us, he apologized again for the delay and invited us into his office. Our meeting with him started OVER AN HOUR from the time we agreed to via email. The only reason we didn't leave was because it is a very beautiful venue and we wanted to see through the mishap. Our meeting was fairly short and we did not feel well informed as he asked us what questions we had as opposed to him telling us about the venue. Booked on Expedia. This is a NOT a hotel. This is a family estate home trying to pass itself off as a hospitality business. I drove onto a bumpy, narrow, unlit dirt road as I entered off the highway. At first, I thought it was the first house I passed as it had a somewhat grand entrance. I drove up to the front door, but it was surrounded by trucks and large equipment parked all around the perimeter of the grounds. A small dog behind a gate barked at me. I went back in my car and kept driving further in. I approached the next house a few hundred yards away and saw a wedding party going on outside. Okay, right place. I parked on the rocky dirt road and asked someone who looked like staff where to check in as there was no signage on the property. He told me he had no clue - he might've been the DJ. I asked another guy who directed me to the unmarked entrance around the corner. There were Amazon packages by the door, so I hesitated to enter and knocked first as I entered, a bit unsure if I'd be breaking & entering. I couldn't locate where to check in as there is no reception when you enter. I wandered around the dark unlit hallways and called out "hello?" a few times. Finally, I saw a woman sitting on a bench at the end of the corridor talking to someone. She took me to her office, asked for an ID and promptly took a photo of it. I did not appreciate my drivers license stored on her iPhone and asked for her to delete it. She said it was mandatory but didn't offer to remove it. She then walked me to my room and offered me a glass of wine. I asked for white, but she gave me red. No big deal. Then she went back to the kitchen located across my room to continue prepping food for the wedding party. I saw no one else in the kitchen except her which was odd. I thought, she must be incredibly competent to cater this alone. It felt like I was intruding on a private party as an uninvited guest since it was just the three of us inside; the woman who checked me in, the same one in the kitchen prepping food, the man she was speaking to initially when I arrived, and myself. He was the only one who made any attempt at hospitality, assuring me the wedding party would end at 10, helping me with my luggage, and letting me know to ask if I needed anything. Other than that, not a soul around. As for security, I was given two keys, one key to enter the main house; the other for my bedroom. I could lock/unlock my door from inside the room by simply twisting the little tab on the door knob either up or sideways, like the kind you'd buy at Lowe's. Even I could pick that lock. I felt a little uneasy the whole night so I propped up a chair against the door and kept the TV on all night for company. I felt more secure with the wedding party right outside my window and was hoping they'd stick around much longer past 10. The next morning, I could hear people coming in and out of the house. One guy wearing a headset was getting a drink from the water dispenser from the fridge in the kitchen. I heard someone playing a few measures on the piano in the parlor. I passed an old man with a cane standing by the kitchen on my way out who didn't look like a guest. I will say it is a unique property in a very pretty setting. Mediterranean style, dark wood walls, Spanish tiles, gorgeous pool with tiny hints of Hearst Castle. I do see the potential with the location, the vibe of the house, etc. The estate itself makes sense as a wedding venue, but they were not equipped to run it as a hotel. On a side note, the paintings surrounding the bed in my room eerily reminded me of portraits of the Habsburg royal family, notorious for extreme inbreeding. The art was a bit comical, but it also added to the creepiness of the whole experience. The song Hotel California kept playing inside my head, but ultimately I did manage to leave! read more

I honestly don't know what to say.. I definitely feel like i was catfished by this place. So many glowing reviews, gorgeous pictures, the whole works. Yet to say I was disappointed doesn't even cover it. We arrived at about 730pm, it was already dark. The entrance is not easy to find since the road is unmarked, no light, no sign. We eventually made it down the driveway and up to the front of the hotel. The whole front was dark except for a big tree with lights wrapped around the trunk. I wandered around the overhang until I found a closed door with a sign saying to call to check in. I called and was told that I could let myself in. I walked through the door into a dark and empty hallway and followed a voice through more dark hallways until I found an office and a woman to check us in. She led us through more DARK hallways and up a very steep and again, very dark set of stairs down more dark maze like hallways to our room. We had hot water the evening before check out, but the next morning we had no hot water at all even after letting it run for five or more minutes. I had booked a king bed online but when I checked in, the woman told me that she had kindly given my nice big room to a group of ladies whose room was too small and that she had changed us to a different room upstairs. OK fine. But the room we were given had an oddly small queen size bed. Even though the blanket on the bed was black, it looked really dirty. The decorations were odd and not fitting to the hacienda feel of the rest of the place (more like big lots purchases). The room smelled faintly of cigarettes and there was no smoke detector (just a bracket of where one should be). There was also no deadbolt on the door. We left to have dinner and returned. More wandering through pitch black mazes back to the room. Luckily phones have decent flashlights now. Took several minutes to get the door unlocked because the knob is old and needs to be repaired or replaced. Absolutely an insane experience and I am just flabbergasted by the amount of positive reviews. The two stars given are for the exterior. The pool area looks lovely and the building probably has a lot of charm that we didn't get to see. read more

This place has zero customer service. They are struggling for money so much that they will fraudulently charge your card. Then when you call them, the operator will be mean and pretend to not have an idea about anything you're talking about. You can report them everywhere and they will still try to charge your card. Do not Book reservations at this ghetto facility. The operator will refuse to give you his name because he knows you will complain. Do you love a Vintage feel? This place would be wonderful for you especially if you pick the Champagne room. Gorgeous grounds with water fountains all over & unique touches too. It sounded like the couple there was renting it out for their wedding as I was checking in. You don't have to stay here to have an event though as The Create your phase showed. It was amazing to enjoy this place while doing yoga, sound healing, live art group event, individual paint pours, watching fire dancing too! Who knew! This property is the worse I had ever been into. Book this through booking.com as we want to stay in a place to relax and enjoy the nature. However it was totally disappointed. There was no service what so ever. No front desk for checking in. Need to call their number and a lady came out to show us the room. A lot of steps and lighting was not enough to show the way. My husband took me on a staycation at this lovely hacienda with so much old time charm! Our stay was a whole experience and felt like I was stepping into a time warp of a vintage, romantic Spanish era. Loved how spacious and quiet the property was it felt as if we had the entire place to ourselves. We took advantage of the gorgeous pool area and loved the hot tub. The game room had everything from pool, to air hockey and chess. My favorite part of our visit was the wine cellar where we selected our bottle for the evening. Truly reminded me of a scene out of a poetry book. If you live in San Diego and are looking for a memorable get away in your own backyard, I would 100% recommend visiting this hidden gem! read more

The Mrs. and I just got back from a two night stay at the Vineyard Hacienda and we Weill definitely be back. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon. The sun was out, there was a slight breeze, birds were chirping, and not another human being in sight. I guess you could say it was Shangri La. Once we arrived, we called the number to check-in and Paris came out to greet us. She gave us a tour of the hacienda and it is a sight to behold. Adobe brick, Spanish tile floors, wrought iron light fixtures, and dark wood paneling lined the interior. You definitely feel like you've stepped back in time....or a Disney Zorro movie. I was expecting Don Diego de la Vega(aka Zorro) to step out on the veranda and welcome us. The grounds are beautiful. There is a small vineyard on the property as well as a Koi pond. A veranda surrounds the hacienda and there are tables and chairs for you to sit and admire the view. A pool and game room are also available. We stayed in the Wedgwood room and a beautiful room it was. tastefully decorated with antique furniture and pictures, dark wood paneling like the rest of the hacienda, and a queen sized bed. The bathroom was pretty large with a walking in shower. The water pressure was kind of weak, but that is to be expected in a older home. The one thing I think might be good is to have a nightlight of some kind in the bathroom. Believe me, with dark wood in the room, you are in pitch black darkness and at night the whole hacienda can be pretty dark on the inside. The Vineyard Hacienda makes there own wine, which Paris gave us a glass of once we settled into our room. I think it was a Merlot and it was very good. There is a wine cellar on the premises which, sadly, we didn't get to see. Locating the Vineyard Hacienda can be a little tricky. There is no sign off of hwy 94 directing you to it. Once you do find the turn off from the road, you drive to the end of this short road to a circular driveway with a giant oak in the center of it. I took too long to write a review on this hidden gem, located in Rancho San Diego. I'm a local and never knew this place existed. Now that I found it it'll be my new staycation location. With an amazing property, small occupancy (7 themed rooms) , a full kitchen available for use by the guests, fantastic decor and unbelievable staff, this place is truly a hidden paradise with the luxury of a top notch villa, but the coziness of a winter cabin. Weddings, gatherings, any celebration...this is the spot. Did I mentionthe vineyard? Well , you'll get offered a glass of their vino when you walk thru the door. One night stay... scratch that, wonderful two night stay There is nice, and then there is nice. We originally booked one night, and we booked another back-to-back - once we got into bed. The Hacienda is great for relaxation and activities. We stayed for a getaway but the Hacienda is so much more as it can cater to events as well. Check-in: Messaging via text to check-in. At the time of booking clear instructions will get you into the Hacienda. An email should arrive to get you where you need to be shortly after booking. You have access to the pool, jacuzzi, pool clubhouse, and the grounds. The seating surfaces of the pool and jacuzzi had a comfort that's unmatched in other establishments that we've visited. We loved the pool clubhouse and the grounds. And the decor caught my fiancé's attention right away. She was loving it. The staff was capital "A" Attentive. -Gene for exceptional service - assisted with hospitality procuring some items that we requested. - Melissa - assisted on phone. I recommend to text any inquires or requests because sometimes phone can cutout as phone reception might not be adequate -Paris - gave us the grand tour from the moment at check-in at front entrance. There is a contact number that is posted. - Joe - awesome vibe relaxed someone you feel welcomed to stay with Grounds are beautifully maintained. Times are different during COVID protocols, and we felt very safe with the precautions that are taken at the Hacienda. There is ample parking if you're booking a room. Only thing I think could improve is needs a better cleaning. Went into a "freshly" cleaned rom but the shower had big pile of hair and was slimy. Also room was a bit dusty too. I was happy anyway. My son and daughter-in-Love just got married last weekend here at Vineyard Hacienda! The venue is beautiful, peaceful, very well run and close enough yet feels far away! The vendors they chose were outstanding. Being an all inclusive venue made it simple, practical and very well organized. Joe, the owner, was very approachable, pleasant and easy to talk to. The whole organization has great communication. The day of the wedding was magnificent and the lighting was very magical. Overall, this was a first rate, top notch, five star wedding (venue). If you are looking for the perfect place you'd be a fool to pass this place up. I would recommend it to everyone. My experience was above and beyond from what I had imagined this hacienda is a true paradise the energy that flows there is so majestic so many beautiful trees and plants an amazing place for true zen and relaxation and a perfect venue for a special event it has it all! The boutique hotel has a Spanish rustic feel to it the attention to detail and art is eclectic so rich in history. Was invited to a wine tasting and what a unexpected surprise. It was easy to find but the parking was a bit tight. I was escorted to the wine tasting cellar. The layout is very nice and it had a rustic feeling with the cutouts for the sun to shine in. Joseph the director was very attentive. read more

For my 40th birthday, I wanted to go big. I wanted to rent a place locally to have all my friends come over, and have a worthy celebration that I would always remember. After trying to book a place forever, either the price wasn't right, or the owners were anal, or they had heavy noise ordinances that were way too early and strict for me to be comfortable, or it was too fancy, to common, etc.. Then a close friend mentioned Vineyard Hacienda and showed me pictures... This was a unique place unlike any other and looked like it would match with my vision perfectly. She said they had such a good time there, and the owners and staff were incredible, so I called up Joseph. He was super genuine and ultra friendly, so I knew it was a match immediately. Now, this place is out of the ordinary, and won't be for anyone looking for anything normal like a Motel 6, or fancy like a Ritz Carlton. It's an old vineyard hacienda from the 1930s, and that is exactly what gives it so much flavor and good energy. We rented out the 7 rooms they had, and Joseph was incredible in showing us the place and letting me feel right at home... The grounds are beautiful, unique, and have history. There's so many random pieces of art, carvings, statues, furniture, and items, some I'm sure have been collected (and left over from all the guests) throughout the past 50+ years. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Patti and the rest of the staff were accomodating and worked around the clock to ensure we had a great time. As far as the party, it was an exceptional success. The 45 or so guests, some of whom flew in for the occasion from all over, had a phenomenal time, from my friends with kids who came early, to the late night partiers that stayed till the nest day. I was left with outstanding memories for life. We space to enjoy an intimate party, we played our music till an agreed time, and we hopped in the very hot "hot tub" and pool late at night. On top of that, we had plenty of time to wake up and enjoy the property the next day without being rushed off. Vineyard Hacienda is ideal not only for gatherings, but for yoga and spiritual retreats, weddings, and other events. It feels like a remote location, but is right in San Diego. I could not thank Joseph and his staff enough for their incredible hospitality. If you are looking for a different and unique place to stay unlike any other hotel, motel, or AirBNB, this is your place. We will definitely be planning another event there with our friends in the future. read more

I really don't want to write a review of Vineyard Hacienda because once the word get's out I may never be able to get back in. My first time visiting the San Diego area and after Hawaii this is the most hospitable place in the USA. Vineyard Hacienda is an event space/hotel that is located in one of the most serene locations in California. The rooms are beautiful, the grounds are spectacular, and the guest's were very friendly. Joe (general manager) and his staff are amazing and will do whatever you need to make your day special in a budget that works for you. please read review in its entirety. One of the most remarkable places I have ever stayed. This hidden treasure in San Diego county truly is Gold. From the uniqueness of each room to the entire landscaping. There are no 2 rooms alike, with private balconies. Beautiful architecture and scenery like no other. The Spanish era style hotel is truly one of its kind. wine cellar in the basement with unique crying walls. There is so much more than just the feel! The staff is very warm and welcoming, you get a guided tour of the entire property. When I first arrived I had a tour by Ms Rhonda. She took me on a walk around the property, large swimming pool, spa, pool room great for events, was given fresh picked fruit from the property and even feed the coi fish!!!! It has been one of the best experiences in hospitality ever. Ms Laura was amazing as well. The owner wow blown away by his humbleness. Don't just visit this amazing place, experience it! I too would like to thank Vineyard Hacienda. Rhonda was extremely helpful last Sunday evening when I rolled in seeking refuge from my time at Comic con. The welcoming wine, the magnificent pool, sunset in the jacuzzi, and the level pool table were great but, best of all, was the peace and quiet as I slept in bucolic surroundings.
