Hiltl is popular for being the world's oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world. Here's information I will share that I wish was available before planning to come here. You must make a reservation for lunch/ dinner because that's when they're busy. Breakfast is for walk-ins and they don't do reservations. Hop on their website and be sure you're on the right location because they have several within a 2-mile radius...some on the same street. I went here to try their breakfast buffet. I wasn't sure how busy they got for breakfast so, I got here at 6:30am because I got the wrong information online! They open at 7am. Different locations have different hours. Check their website for actual hours and don't trust review site information because it's wrong! They're not busy for breakfast at all. There's 2 ways to do their buffet. You can pay a fixed price and fill your plate multiple times or go and fill your plate once and pay based on the weight of your food - you get free bread. I did the pay-by-weight option. I have a whole day of eating planned so, I wasn't about to fill up for breakfast. When they opened at 7am, they were still putting the food out one by one. By 7:20, all the food was out which was fine. I was in no rush. The spread includes fresh fruits, cheeses, butter, margarine, cheesecake, chocolate mousse, mango mousse, mango chia pudding, banana chocolate brownie crumble, a pear dessert (with cream, vanilla and orange), rosti, scrambled eggs, potato salad, tomato and mozzarella salad, beets, chickpeas, olives, couscous, corn salad, olives, asparagus, green peas, feta cheese, hardboiled eggs, curry salad, dolmades, broccoli and edamame, artichoke salad, bulgur salad, tabbouleh, orecchiette tofu salad, Thai salad, hummus, guacamole, muhammara, etc. They have 6 types of bread. Slice a piece and toast it yourself. Vegan and vegetarian food tend to taste strongly of coconut/ coconut milk and I don't like that. My favorites from the buffet include chocolate mousse, mango mousse, banana chocolate brownie crumble, dolmades, asparagus, orecchiette tofu salad, and Thai salad. I got a mango lassi to drink which I didn't like. It had curry powder. Service was pleasant. The restaurant was clean.

We were only able to sample the food, and the kitchen was closed, so we decided to grab a few drinks instead. The drinks are a bit pricey, but they're definitely worth it. I had a passion fruit martini, and my husband had a Moscow mule, and both were fantastic. The restaurant offers a panoramic view of Central Zürich, and it's worth stopping by both day and night. Super convenient location, and exactly what you want when you're looking for something fresh, quick, and satisfying. The setup is casual and cafeteria-style, but in the best way--lots of great options like pizzas, salads, and sandwiches, all made fresh right in front of you. It's easy, efficient, and actually kind of fun to walk through and pick exactly what you're in the mood for. I went with the fungi pizza and a salad, and both were absolutely delicious. The pizza was perfectly cooked with great flavor, and the salad was crisp and super fresh--exactly what I was hoping for. We grabbed a table outside and enjoyed everything alfresco, which made the whole experience even better. Great vibe, relaxed atmosphere, and perfect for people-watching while you eat. Service was quick, prices were very reasonable (especially for Zurich), and the quality really exceeded expectations for a casual spot. You're handed a buzzer and off you go to find your own table (it's a free for all). When your buzzer goes off you proceed to go get your food and then you eat. No table service, no nothing. You pay on your way out, and of course they ask you for a tip... they literally did nothing! You already are paying for the food! The food - both my daughter and I had pizza. It was ok, I mean it's pizza... only two beers to choose from, a Pilsner on tap and bottled wheat beer. Again, very busy place, so clearly the locals seem to like it. Would I return? Doubtful, but you be the judge... Prost!

There is always a roster of events posted on a sandwich board on the pavement out front letting one know what's on at the Treff. You can't miss it. They also serve food, during the nicer months, in a side garden that over looks a field with grazing sheep. It's a very idyllic scene. Best of all, the kitchen is open Sundays and, if I'm not mistaken, serves until five pm. My only quibble with Q.H. is that the coffee is barely palatable. Wash it down with a pastry and it's less unsavory. :) The place is, after all, very visually inviting.

Kind of homey and cozy, painted in an assortment of colors, and I suppose a perfect setting for a cupcake decorating class. Outside our room, there was a coat rack to hang up our coats and a sink for easy hand washing. The toilets were actually downstairs, and it was nice to note that the restrooms and sinks were modernized. :)

The location in the Sihlcity Shopping Complex is super convenient to reach by bus, by tram or by train. We often meet here for dinner and then everyone can get home easily from here. The beef and prawns are grilled and put on top of a bed of leafy salad accompanied with grilled fresh vegetables such as eggplants, yellow and red bell peppers. The whole thing is topped with sliced parmesan and their own house made mustard salad dressing which really makes this salad a home run. I am craving it right now just from writing about it! At Fr. 24.90, it's definitely not cheap, but worth it to me. The pizzas on the other hand, are less than stellar. I've tried a couple of different ones, they're just ok, nothing spectacular and really on the salty side. The pastas are very nice, house made and fresh with savory sauces. The desserts are also all house made. Comes in two sizes, mostly delectable. A great finish to an enjoyable meal. Most of the dishes are prepared in front of you in a speedy fashion. Servers are friendly. There are a lot of seating space on the second level than the ground level. The only drawback is the Monday to Friday lunch rush. The place gets packed to the gills from all the office employees in nearby buildings you can hardly find a table upstairs or downstairs or outside. Best to arrive before noon or after 1pm if you like to have conversation over a nice meal without having to yell at each other.
