I stopped here on a road trip traveling from Wisconsin to Maine. The coffee was exceptional- great taste, smooth, and the cafe was cute and had a nice vibe. The reason I'm giving a 2-star review is because there is a wood bench on the side of the building by the parking lot. I went to sit on the bench and it flipped up in the air like a teeter totter and it was scary! I could have seriously been injured but I was able to jump off right away. I also had my 10 pound dog with me when it happened. I went inside and told a gentleman behind the counter what happened. He was nice and came outside with me and explained that the bench often gets backed into by cars in the parking lot and then it gets moved out of place. I have no idea why, if this is clearly a known issue, that the bench is not stabilized for safety reasons. If this happens next time to a child or an elderly person, this could end in consequences or someone getting seriously hurt. read more

Took my family here and we all got seasonal drinks -- the sugar cookie latte here FAR exceeds that of Starbucks & I wish they'd have it all year! While visiting Vermont we stopped into this little coffee shop for some Hazelnut Cappuccino's! The cappuccino's were great! Knocking a few stars due to my experience here at the coffee shop. I walk in and the ladies working did not greet me. No hello. No welcome. There was a man standing off to the side in a conversation with an older gentleman. Suddenly, one of the barista's by the name of Sky suddenly snapped at the older man saying "get over here and pay for your drink" in such a rude and disrespectful tone, I couldn't even believe my ears! I was next to place my order and Sky, the barista, was continual unkind. I hope whoever owns this business has a nice talking to with Sky. You don't treat people like that and certainly not elderly people. Sky, learn some kindness! read more

Absolute wonderful experience here. My husband and I stopped in while on vacation to get a bottle of wine and a bottle of champagne to celebrate NY together and were pleasantly surprised. I love the wood floors and the cozy feeling when you walk in. They have a good selection and the owner takes the time to make great recommendations. He shared with us some of his travel experiences into Argentina to experience and learn about Malbecs himself and even went into the explanation behind the different types of champagne. It was a fun experience and I wish we could have taken this little shop home with us. read more

My boyfriend and I ordered an iced coffee and an iced latte and they gave us both iced coffee. We told them only one of us got an iced coffee but they went back to making other coffees without checking or correcting my drink. They charged us for an iced latte that we never received. For this part of the world, pretty damn find wine selection. Part of the roll of the dice in deciding to stop is is whether there's a wine tasting going on. Always willing to try some. Just so y'all know, I first came in here after a particularly hard day, looking to get some emotional soothing from a mocha latte. Caffeine, chocolate, and coffee takes that, "JFC!! I'm about to f***ing die!" edge off. They have a little sign telling you how to prep your order so things go smoother. To go, not to go. How large? What kind of coffee? What kind of dairy? So I proudly step up to the counter and chant my little ditty, "To go, 12 oz mocha latte, 2 percent, extra shot." "Whipped cream?" "Why the hell not?" Looking around, it's a little Mom and Pop kinda place. Besides the walls of wine, lots of little edible treats. Corkboard with local info. Rack of postcards. Little cafe tables. Nice. Then the mocha arrives. Mound of whipped cream with drizzles of chocolate. Hmmm. This looks promising. One sip and the... what are those opiate-like drugs that your body releases in times of bliss. Yeah, those. Absolutely the best mocha latte ever. (didn't Train sing about this?) it's the only thing I ever order. I have been known, on a bad day, or even a bad afternoon, to get in the car and drive the 20 minutes to get here. Then I discovered their baked goods. The one I will rave about is the savory scone, pear and some spice. Granted, it's not like a scone from the old country. Wish they would call them different names. But is amazing. If you don't need your tastebuds smacked with the equivalent of a gustatory baseball bat. The pound cake is also crazy good. read more

Village wine and coffee: the perfect little shop! Fueling my morning caffeine and carrying a diverse array of wines and a special shout out to their amazing wine tastings! Nestled in the heart of Shelburne center, this is defiantly the local favorite. The rustic feel and charm when you walk in is inviting and cozy. The baristas are always friendly, asking all the questions I forget need to be answered before crafting drinks. I highly recommended any of the pastries at the counter, especially the scones! My most recent love for Village Wine and Coffee has been their Friday night wine tastings. The first night we went I was blown away by the wine selection, the ability that our server was able to articulate the different wines, regions and flavors as well as parings (or what not to eat so as to truly experience the wines). We also queued in that the tastings are 'bring your own food' as groups streamed in throughout the night with bowls of him made pasta, cheese plates, even take out pizza. Needless to say, we stepped up our game after that. Truly a hidden gem, being just beyond the Burlington boundary. Looking forward to next week's tasting! Pro tip: parking can get a little crazy. If it's looking super busy you can park just a little ways always at the plaza next door and walk. You will be glad you did! read more

This cafe is a combination coffee house and wine shop. I am not sure which came first, but the presence of all of the valuable wines throughout the place make it somewhat less comfortable to just enjoy your coffee without having to talk to a wine salesperson or feel like you might be in the way of one of the wine salesman selling to another customer. This concern aside, the help was courteous efficient and fast. We had iced coffee and tea and cannot comment specifically on hot beverages. The iced coffee we had was somewhat strong and bitter, perhaps what would be desirable for an espresso, but not great for thirst quenching. Our iced teas were freshly brewed but unfortunately also tasted bitter as if hot teas had been used rather than custom blends for iced tea. While it was fresh brewed and used high quality ingredients, we did not sense that they had paid enough attention to their cold brewed beverages. read more

Coffee is great, staff is courteous with the exception of the weird guy in the back who's dog freaks out for no reason and probably shouldn't be in the shop in the first place... if you own a business that is dog friendly and you act like your unsociable dog is not the problem when it freaks out, you are in a different reality. read more

I go here so often. The hot chocolate is amazing tasting. It is very thick and milky. They make their own whipped cream which is the best whipped I have ever had in my life. I don't drink coffee so I don't know much about what the coffee tastes like. They have flavor filled muffins and scones that are a great pick me up. They are also dog friendly which is nice to know. We were enjoying a cup of coffee a few days ago when the owner came out and yelled into the coffee shop about some cars that were parked on a small strip of grass. There was not enough parking so people were parked slightly on a lawn. The person who's car it was said "yes that's my car" and he proceeded to YELL at them at the top of his lungs. It was rude, unprofessional, and embarrassing. We felt bad not for the people being shamed, but for the owner himself. What a sad state of affairs. The owner of a local business actually yelling at his own customers, who had spent money in his establishment. PS. the cappuccino was bitter and not prepared correctly. I can't remember what the name of the drink we got here was... something like the Ultimate latte... but it had maple syrup in it and I think heavy cream? In any case, it was AMAZING (but not a health food). I usually hate sugar in my coffee drinks but the flavors went so well together in this one and sweet was really not the predominant flavor. The common theme here that the service is bringing down this cafe is %100 correct. My partner and I trekked South from Burlington early this morning excited to finally try the place out. Within 30 seconds of arriving we were served by an abrasively rude barista, very clearly annoyed by, I guess, the audacity we had in placing our order with her - I'm not kidding. Now, to be honest, as I've seen in other reviews, the treats we ordered and the coffee were actually quite good. The service though - so rude (but only to those they didn't know, my partner and I definitely observed) we scarfed our treats, abandoned our drinks 2 sips in, and we're back out the door five minutes after we had arrived. I really love the coffee they serve here. I don't go often, but when I go I always get an excellent brew. Also, there is a good selection of cookies, pastries and other baked goods. It is a comfortable place to sit and hang-out, lots of sun in the morning. Not a ton of parking nearby, but it is an easy walk to where there is a lot of parking. The staff were friendly and full of compliments, which helps in the morning. Since there are a lot of shops to check out in the vicinity, this makes for a good stop. Excellent atmosphere, baked goods, and coffee drinks. I have spent about 4 hrs/ day here this week while waiting for my kid to get out of two different short kids' programs (one early am, the other late pm). The mix of patrons is nice-- tourists, grandparents with kids, families, people doing some business. Service is fine. Some of the baked goods come from O Bakery at Shelburne Farms. They are all good! Not sure why others are bothered by the fact that this is a wine and coffee shop. It is clearly named as such. Sure, if you happen to come during a wine tasting on a weekend it will be more crowded. But in my experience over the past 3 yrs, the folks here are happy to have customers interested in either side of the business. I've popped in and out to get a drink or a snack here quite often, as this shop is on the road to my in-laws. This week is the first time i've really spent a lot of time sitting here and it has been a delight. read more

If you need to stop for coffee (because this is the ONLY coffee shop in town) make sure to get your coffee to go. The atmosphere the owner and staff has created is unfriendly (unless they already know you). Check the signs in the bathroom asking you not to use their parking lot (a parking lot for customers) if you are staying and not to stay too long anyway. One of the best coffee shops outside of Burlington. Because I live in South Burlington, it is usually a huge hassle to go into downtown, find parking, and go to a coffee shop. This place is pretty far down on Shelburne rd, located at the downtown intersection, but it is not too bad of a drive and there's ample parking here though it could get busy sometimes. The espresso based drinks, perhaps not as good as those at Maglianero, are decent and very well priced. You can get a 16oz double shot Capuccino for a little over four dollars. The wifi here is free and pretty fast. I would highly recommend this place if you are sick of the college-y downtown cafe scene. Also, they regularly have wine tasting sessions that seem pretty awesome. Anyone who can't stand trust-fund / yuppy vibe should stay away from here... read more
