Village Hardware has been here for ages. They have a decent selection of everything, from grills to beach chairs to regular household items like plungers. The staff is very friendly. Often, as soon as you walk in, they ask if they can help you find something. They even track down items and bring them to you! Parking on the street can be a challenge, but there is a public lot (time limited, keep an eye on it or you will get a ticket) directly behind the store. Some of the salespeople are fantastic. Others are horrible. I got two keys copied and was wondering where they were after 25 minutes. It was not busy. The salesperson was a nowhere near the key copying machine for 20 minutes, when I asked a cashier how long they paged this guy. When he came around after another few minutes he raised his voice at me and said "I told you it would be a minute!" I said it's been 25 minutes! At which time he began ridiculing me in front of my son and other customers. Finally, he shouted "next time you need keys made go to the Home Depot!!!" And he kept shouting. The last critic must be from a competitor. The prices are very reasonable for the location. I'm not sure where that person is from, but unless he is shopping at Walmart, I don't think that you are going to do much better. I find the staff to be courteaous enough. Help is in abundance. I always find someone to help me or to give me advice. read more

The people who work here are helpful and interested in you getting your project completed. I have been here a dozen times and they usually have what is needed (notable exception: boxes and tape). They are not the cheapest, but it is in prime EH real estate, so you know what to expect. read more

I purchased an audio cable for a friend of mine yesterday and I went to return it today And they refused to refund my money, only issue a store credit. I own a small business that sells product as well and I can't ever imagine refusing to refund a clients money and only offer a store credit if they wanted to return something... over $20 this establishment has lost a costumer forever... sad:( read more

I usually hate hardware stores but I actually enjoy going to village hardware (and I go quite often. I am the least handy person on the planet. Usually hardware stores are disorganized and the inventory is limited. Village is well merchandise and a good selection.The most important aspect is they hire people that are extremely professional and knowledgeable. The are the only show in town, but they don't take advantage of this and rip you off. read more

Well I drove for an hour to have them repair my mosquito magnet. They are the closest authorized service center. Dropped it of reeling them it whorls fine built has a propane leak. Raul called me back in 5 minutes and told me it needed a few items it would be $200 to fix and not worth it. I questioned how he came to this conclusion so rapidly and he said he did a full diagnostic test on it. I questioned him again. He got short with me. So I turned around and picked it up. Plugged it in. Worked fine. It seems like the leak was to o ring on the tank. So he obviously did nothing. What a shame. read more

Although Amazon is great, these guys are better. A well stocked store with knowledgeable employees, this store is always there in a pinch in the middle of a project. From the smallest screw to replacing torn window and door screens, Village Hardware remains your friendly neighborhood hardware store. And really how can one complain about the prices given the rents charged in East Hampton! Sure I could have purchased that $0.50 O-ring I needed to fix my power washer from Amazon for $5 for 225 pieces, but do I really need 225 of them, and to wait several days for it? Another example, I searched for hours to find a part on Amazon to fix a handheld shower head, but hmmm what key words to search for when you do not know exactly what the part is called. Last week, walked in here told them my problem and within a minute I had the part in hand to fix it. The part is called something so generic like "on-off shower valve" I would have never found it and realized it was the correct product online! Lastly I should mention, the gallon of furniture stain I ordered from Amazon, which took 2 weeks because the first shipment was damaged in transit, and then the replacement item finally arrived with the bottom of the can dented on one side by several inches, meaning the can could not sit upright while I was staining furniture, and I had to pour the entire can into another bucket. Wow. I just went on line to get Village Hardwares telephone number and was shocked by these comments. I've been shopping there for 40 years and have always found the staff (including the younger Mr. Kiembock) to be knowledgeable and fairly priced. And on the one occasion I had to return something, my money was promptly returned. Maybe in the summer its gets very busy and weekenders get testy, but even than I've already been treated professionally. read more

We bought merchandise here on our way out of town, only to learn that a piece was broken. When coming back through town, we went to return the broken merchandise, and were told that we could either take store credit or take a replacement item - neither of which help as we're from out of town and our vacation is over. The store is well organized and well stocked. Some of the employees are quite helpful, others are marginal at best. The owner's son is useless and rude. He has no idea how to run a business; if village hardware wasn't the only hardware store in town, he would be out of business. Customers are an inconvenience he is forced to endure. To the extent that we are able, we will shop at revco and riverhead building supply or take the drive to sag or wainscot. read more
